The work was done efficiently and professionally. They cleaned up all the mess and were very quick at it. James was very knowledgeable about what needed to be done and also helped save my favorite tree that I thought I would have to remove.

Two of my neighbors and I took Mr. Roberts to Small Claims court where we won everything we asked for. Judge even stated that she had better never see Mr. Roberts before her again because she was disgusted enough that she wanted to give him jail time. Regardless, we have never seen a dime from Mr. Roberts even though he was order to make payment to us. You can't get money from someone who lies and cheats in order to get your money in the first place so use Mr. Roberts at your own risk. Hopefully, someone will get mad enough that they will once again file suit against him and this time, he'll get jail time.
Description of Work: My neighbors and I hired Mr. Roberts to do tree work in our three yards. All of us were bullied into paying him before he finished the job (shame on us) and he never came back to finish leaving us all with huge messes and destruction to our property.

In May 2011 I hired Mr. Roberts to do an extensive tree removal and tree trimming job worth several thousand dollars. I advanced him a substantial deposit, but during the course of the project he insisted on getting paid the balance before he completed the job. I did advance him some of the money to pay his crew, which left a small balance (which I later paid), but also reminded him that in the business world jobs are expected to be completed before the balance is paid in full. Mr. Roberts became very rude, disrespectful and insulting. He said that I treated him like a criminal and don't trust him. He later apologized after I told him I would not recommend him. I also witnessed him treating his crew with disdain and observed one crew member saying that he was going to quit . Since he had apologized to me I hired him to do another job, which he performed totally unsatisfactory. He left the burnpile without carting away debris, left ruts all over my property and destroyed the grass. He promised to come back and repair it as well as dig out/make deeper my small creek for which I advanced him $400 to rent a backhoe. Since May 2011 he has made numerous promises and excuses regarding finishing the job. He, to this day, has not shown up to finish the job nor has he returned the $400 I advanced him after numerous requests. I expect to be reimbursed via small claims court for my $400, court expenses, plus traveling expenses to and from court since the proceedings will have to be held in Marion. Two of my neighbors had similar experiences with Mr. Roberts and are also pursuing a claim against him.

This experience has been a most agonizing tale of unprofessional, unethical, and unfinished business. Since the job is still unfinished, after repeated excuses and no-shows, our last resort is to take Mr. Roberts to Small Claims Court. Mr. Roberts' came on 7/22/2011 to remove the tree he was was ordered to do on 7/6/2011 (we knew he wouldn't do the work on that day). His crew (hard-working and polite) removed the limbs of the tree but were unable to finish the job and Mr. Roberts promised to return the following Monday to finish the job. Sadly, he convinced my husband to pay him stating that he needed to pay his crew and "didn't we trust him". My husband is much more trusting than I. Our children's playground is currently littered with the branches of the half-finished job. The main body of the tree stands bare of it's limbs with Mr. Roberts' rope hanging down across our playground. The slide of the swing set is crushed under branches. Mr. Roberts is short of temper and uses explicit language in conversation (calls back immediately, speaking politely and making promises to finish the work but has yet to follow-through). Today is 27 days since the work was ordered and 12 days since the job has been left unfinished all over my yard. I am about to file my first legal claim against someone.
Description of Work: Mr. Roberts' services were ordered on 7/6/2011. He was hired to take down a tree and other hanging limbs and "chip-up" the remains. He came on 7/22/2011 to do the job.
