Installed backsplash. Installation was timely and it looks great! |My wife and I are very happy with how the project turned out. I did not give the cost of service because I believe that is between the service provider and myself. Chris has also painted and screened our upper deck/porch as well as painted the exterior of our entire home. We will most definitely use his services again as well as recommend him to others.

Chris was to do my needed construction in two parts. He has completed the first part and will do the second part later this month. He screened in my front porch and did a great job. He laid stone for a path and they look great. I will give him and overall rating once the total job has been completed. So far we are happy with Chris's work quality, suggestions personal interaction with us.

He is good. We used him 2 summers ago to install toilets and he was great then, but he was unresponsive this time.

We moved across country from CA to Murphy returning to our childhood home state of North Carolina July of this year. The home we purchased is beautiful but needed some outside work due to all the rains thru the summer and a fenced yard for our rat terrier. We found Chris on Angie's list and liked him right away. He was friendly, knowledgeable and overall professional. We immediately hired him to build the fence and stairs leading into the enclosed yard and add gates to the other two entrances on the porch. Due to his busy summer schedule the work was to begin first week of September. While waiting for the work to begin my husband and I decided we could paint the porch and rails ourselves. As we began choosing colors we realized our color scheme would need to be completed on the trim of the house so contacted Chris again for a second job. We got lucky due to his schedule and the painting job was added to the schedule for the week after he completed the fence. Chis showed up on time the day of scheduled work even though his helpers were finishing up a previous job and started breaking ground on the fence. A few days later his assistant, Bill, was on the job. Bill, too, is friendly, knowledgeable and exceptional with woodwork. A great addition to Chris's team! Everything was going well until it came time to paint the trim on the Chalet side of the home. I should point out here that the back Chalet porch was an addition added on by the previous owners. Chris discovered that the beam supporting the roof was not strong enough and was bending severely. In essence the porch was separating from the house and pulling the roof with it. It would not have taken much more then a good solid storm to cause it to collapse. Chris' good eye may have litterally saved our lives. Chris came up with a plan to stop the sliding and secure the porch but ran into yet another issue, the support wood on the outside of the home was rotten due to water damage. Without concern for his busy schedule, Chris went to work immedately on building a steel plate to attach a large horizontal beam directly to the home and another steel support plate to the outside as well as replacing the bad vertical beam. A few days later the job was completed, the trim painted and we are exceptionally happy with both Chris and Bill. We have more projects coming up next year as we get settled in . . . A bathroom that needs remodeling, kitchen issues, and other smaller jobs around the home. We will be calling on Chris again when the time comes. Great job! We picked out the colors and he did the rest. The house and porch turned out beautiful. He even provided us with pictures of the job as it progressed since we were out of town at the time.

I just bought this home and had several projects I wanted completed. The contractor came in to fix my leaking toilet and right after he left, the toilet started leaking again. I called him and he said he would get there as soon as he finished another job. 3 days later he came to fix the leak. He couldn't finish the list of projects because of the other job he was working on. He came back days later late in the afternoon to hang a ceiling light and a 46and quot; TV. It was raining and he and his helper walked thru the mud and water right on my area rug. They cut wire, chain and moved furniture. When they finished, he asked for payment of parts he bought for the other project I wanted done. He and his helper left, they didn't clean up and I haven't heard from him in the past 3 weeks. He never returned to do what I hired him to do, and left me with parts that I had to return to get my money back. I will never use this contractor again.

Well, if you want it done properly, Chris is the guy. He not only designed the work, he professionally fulfilled his plans. The work was completed on time, with little disruption in our home. Even though he is one of those transplants from Florida, he is a true craftsman. Our dogs even liked him. Next project is his if he likes.

The job was completed on time, at the quoted price, and it's exactly as expected. We will definitely use Chris Tomczak for any future renovations.

They were very thorough and friendly.

Removed fake supports to open the area, routed edges of supports to enhance appearance, fixed screen door that was not hanging properly. Put in horizontal thick board to be able to be used as a shelf and re-painted areas that needed it, Cleaned up any mess made and was on his way. Chris also fixed a closet door that I was having a problem with. Over-all great experience.

After checking Angie's List references thoroughly (reading every comment) I understood that if I wanted the best, it might take a while. I called and Mickey (Chris's wife) scheduled Chris to view the work and give me an estimate Friday of that week. He was about 30 minutes late for that appointment, but did call which I appreciated. He was knowledgeable about the possible longterm solutions to the issues we were having w/mildew forming on our prowl ceiling, which is faced w/white pine. Since building our house in 2005-6, we have had to clean and reseal w/clear poly three times. I received a formal estimate of $1500 plus materials with 50% due up front in order to secure a date on his schedule. I was reluctant at first as I make a practice of NOT doing that. However, again, based on his reviews here my husband and I decided we would. We were scheduled four weeks out. Chris arrived Monday, @12:30 p.m. and worked until 5:00, again on Tuesday from 10:30 until 5:00 and finished up on Wednesday. Previously we had extensive plumbing work done and the drywall in two rooms had large sections removed. The drywall repair was nothing short of miraculous! You can not tell it had ever been cut into! He even used the original drywall. How I wish I had taken and quot;beforeand quot; pics. I will post the and quot;aftersand quot; though. Perfection! The prowl ceiling was pressure cleaned (even took the initiative to clean my outdoor table top) damage from carpenter bees was repaired, a strip was put along the center line per my husband's request, and we decided to go w/an opaque stain which Chris had matched to the color of our window and door trim.... perfect! Lastly, Chris installed two Sears garage door openers and keypads. There was already electric out there at each bay. Again, perfect! A problem with a cross beam on the deck was discovered. It is clad in vinyl siding and water is getting in there. We will schedule another appointment to have that repaired as well. I appreciate the fact that Chris stays on schedule (weather cooperating) and does not leave the job until the work is finished. Getting on his schedule was definitely worth the wait. Also, Chris' wife, Mickey gave excellent customer service!

Absolutely 100% satisfied. Chris is a professional who can tackle just about any job and complete that job on time within budget. The quality of his work is exceptional. I would highly recommend Chris to anyone who wants a professional job.

Chris has done many jobs for me in the past. Decking, exterior painting, fencing, gates, etc. I am not a full time resident so I trust Chris to take care of my house while I am gone. Recently during a wind storm a tree had come down and destroyed my outdoor fireplace. Chris went to the house to check on it and discovered the damage. he took care of the downed tree and removed the debris from the fireplace. He will be rebuilding the fireplace for me. I also have him check on my plumbing while I am gone and he maintains the driveway and keeps it clear from tree limbs and leaves. I will continue to have Chris doing Handyman work in the future. I think of him more like family than a hired professional.

I was out of town, just called him and he took care of the problem as usual did a great job.

Chris quoted the project, providing us with details on what would be done and what we would be responsible for (materials). He started the project a few days late due to bad weather, but kept us posted each day. As we were not able to view the progress of the project personally (out of state), Chris provided progress emails, pictures and called with any issues / or to obtain approval for additional materials. During the week of the project, we requested he take a look at a leak we discovered from one of the bathrooms. He took the time to locate the exact problem, and repaired the pipe, and ceiling where the leak had appeared. Chris made suggestions (that we had not thought of) along the way. He completed the project in the expected time frame, even staying late everyday to keep on schedule. We are very pleased with the completed look of the home. We plan on using Chris again in the near future for more projects.

I paid them extra because they did a nice job. I got to know about them through an add and then I read a lot of reviews about them and found that they are good. The work they did was good, but he was supposed to come back and I never heard from him. There were some plumbing problems and several different things and he never got in touch with me. I called him about four weeks and he said he will stop by in a few weeks and he has not come. I don't think he is a man of his word. His price was good. He did some work under the sink and it was leaking. He repaired and it continued to leak a little bit.

Tomczak estimating includes the tasks that they will do for the money they quote. There were no surprises.

From the time Chris first came out to do a site survey for the estimate until the job was completed my experience with Chris was just outstanding. and quot;Handymanand quot; does not do justice to the quality of the services and work he provides. Chris is a true professional who cares about doing the job right and providing complete customer satisfaction as a result. Chris took ample time to protect all items on the outside of the house that were not going to be painted. He removed all lighting fixtures, ceiling fans on the back porch and other yard lights and taped and covered all windows and doors before starting the job. His pressure washing of the house and roof improved our home immensely althought this was not the end product--it just speaks to the level of preparation Chris goes to before starting to paint. It took only two days for he and his helper to complete the entire outside painting. He removed screening on our big back porch that had been stapled to the house and re-built all the framing around the screen door so that it matched the style of the house and porch. Then he professionally installed screens that could be removed in sections if they every got a hole in them. He also removed plastic, decorative shutters from our windows outside and constructed real wood shutters that added character and value to our home. The range of his abilities and talents appeared to be endless and again I cannot stress how high the quality of his work is. The quality of his painting and repairs is simply first class all the way and you can trust that whatever Chris does will be done professionally and will be done to your complete satisfaction. Chris is one of those rare individuals today who gets much of his satisfaction from your satisfaction and delight in the jobs he does. I can't recommend Chris highly enough and not only does he work professionally and deliver quality, professional services he is a personal delight as well. I enjoyed every minute of his time on the job and sought his advice in many areas as he worked. Thanks to Chris our experience was simply first class and I can say without hesitation that Chris exceeded my expectations with everything he did.

I have not had one drop of water in my house since the project. I would highly recommend this man for any type of home project because he knows what he's talking about. If he's willing to stand behind his work, that's all you can ask for. He looked around and determined that water was coming because the level of the ground next to the house was low. The water would run towards the house instead of away from the house. He installed two french drains and raised the ground so the water now runs away the house.

Our overall experience with Chris Tomczak Handyman was excellent. He started the project when promised and competed all work on time. Chris was there everyday just before 8am and never left until well after 5pm. Chris was careful to protect all the landscaping, windows and light fixtures even before starting. His price quote was well worth the work we paid for. This house will not need to be painted again for another 8-10 years. We have a cabin in the woods made of cedar siding which was beginning to turn to that weathered look, grayish in color on 3 well exposed sides. Chris took his time to pressure wash the outside, fix any spots that may have needed attention, then paint around the windows and doors. Chris actually painted around the windows with a color that matched out front door, then my wife called him to ask if he would repaint around all those windows again a different color. Chris did as my wife asked without increasing the price he quoted. In less than2 weeks Chris transformed our home back to a beautiful chalet in the mountains.
