I hired Edmonds Contracting to repair some deck railings, add new stair railings to my deck and replace some rotted trim around two pillars in the front of my house. He came to my house totally unprepared for any carpentry, using an angle grinder to cut the wood. This left the tops of the posts uneven so the top rail did not fit flush.Previous to his coming I cut the top rails of the deck that are 1x6 and had mitered them myself for a tight fit. Unfortunately I was at work when he did his work. The rails were not centered on the posts, there were large gaps between the mitered boards I had cut. HIs solution, fill them in with wood putty! He also appeared to run out of wood for the stairs so he used a piece of non-pressure treated wood I had in the basement for another project. Additionally, the trim pieces in the front needed to be mitered. Again he used an angle grinder and the seams were no where near tight iwith some corners sticking proud. Again his solution was to use large amounts of putty to fill the gaps. He offers a one year guarantee but after fully inspecting everything I called him and he never returned my call. I ended up having to rip apart a lot of his work and redo it myself. When we interviewed him during the estimate he gave us a detailed idea of how he would do the work and his wife supposedly wrote it all down. However what was said and what we received were not near the same. When I asked him about it when I came home from work he said "Well'i'm not a carpenter" I paid him for the deck work because of the suppoosed guarantee but did not pay him for the work on the pillars. Do not hire this company for any carpentry!
