He put up the gutter guards on my mother's house. Did quite a bit of damage to the shingles and was 100% unresponsive when we tried to contact him afterwards to discuss the problem with the shingles

Jimmy Overlin from Carolina Paint Group is a crook and swindled $1500 from us. He lied about everything from actually being on site to paint with his crew of five, tarping the ground and furniture, the time his worker would arrive at the house, when he was buying the paint. He never painted nor came on site to supervise the few days of work that was conducted. He only sent 1 worker to paint and he was never there at 8:30 as Jimmy always promised as his arrival time. He never caulked or did any preparation of the wall cracks/holes for the job. Some days, he didn't respond to our voicemail messages nor text messages. When my wife asked Jimmy about the color that his worker was painting and how it wasn't matching the window trim, Jimmy got huffy and pulled the worker off the job early. Then he wanted to overcharge me to paint the window trim to match. The work was sloppy, slow and nothing was completed as Jimmy promised. He used 2 days of rain as his excuse why they had not completed the work. They ignored our repeated requests to use tarps. As a result, there were paint drips on the ground, on the 1 month old roof shingles as well as the 2 week old gutters installed on the home. After weeks of no progress on the house and the passing of the completion date, we decided to cancel the contract to avoid any further disaster. We asked for $1000 of the $1500 back and asked for an amicable parting of ways, but Jimmy refused. He went further to tell us that we owed him another $700 for paint and that he would put a lien on our home. He actually only paid $417 for the paint which we would have been willing to pay for if he showed interest in resolving it like adults. In the final show of Jimmy's true character, he came to pick up his ladders and proceeded to egg the front of our house and splattered more paint drops on our walkway. What a true crook!DO NOT GO ANYWHERE NEAR THIS "PAINTER". He is a liar, a vandal, and a crook!
Description of Work: Jimmy Overlin, owner of Carolina Paint Group, was hired to paint the exterior of our home including wood trim and stucco. Upon signing the agreement on 6/7/12, Jimmy wanted $1500 upfront which was 1/3 of the total job price of $5600. This was never discussed during our interview with him and he explained that that is how he does business. He pressured my wife to give him the check so that he could pick up the paint. Despite better judgement, my wife wrote him a check for $1500 which he cashed immediately. We discussed tarping the ground and patio furniture and included that in the agreement. Jimmy also said that HE and his crew of 5 would paint together and finish the job in 5 days. He had until June 14, 2012 to complete the job. On June 1, 2012, Jimmy pressure washed the house for about a half hour. One week later, on June 7, 2012, he sent 2 workers to start painting the boxing. I asked when they would begin prepping the house by filling in holes and cracks with caulk and concrete filler as discussed with Jimmy. The workers didn't respond. There were no tarps placed on the ground either. On June 13, 2012, 1 worker came back. On June 14 and June 15, the same 1 worker came back and worked about 3-4 hours each day. Jimmy did not come to paint nor supervise the job. The worker said that Jimmy would come on Sat. 6/16/12 to paint since the job was behind schedule. He did not come. At that point, we realized that Jimmy lied about the entire job and did not complete any singular thing agreed upon in the contract. After 2 weeks, he still had not finished 2 coats on the boxing nor any trim. His worker left paint drips on the concrete walkway, painted over rotted wood which Jimmy said he would check to see if they needed replacement but never did.
