AMERICAN LOCKSMITH CO

We made an emergency call to American Locksmith on behalf of a neighbor the evening of March 19, 2011. We were delighted when we got a live person versus an answering machine at 10 PM. However, it was obvious the operator was either at a night club or party. The music was so loud that she could not hear our information and had to ask for our number several times. She told us someone would be on their way. We waited approximately 15-20 minutes (during that time other locksmiths returned our call but we were trying to be courteous and give American Locksmith the business) and called American Locksmith back. The same woman answered and then admitted she didn't get our phone number right and had to ask for it again. After she received our phone number again, within five minutes we received a very courteous and polite call from the locksmith on call who asked for our address and said he was on his way. He told us he was approximately 30 minutes away and asked to speak with the homeowner when he became aware that there were small children in the house alone. The homeowner followed the locksmith's instructions and was able to unlock the door and get to his crying children. When we called American Locksmith to cancel, the same operator answered and continued with her curious behavior. When we stated we needed to cancel the request so the gentlemen would not have to continue to drive across town, she became somewhat accusatory of the locksmith who was trying to help a customer. I told her again to please cancel our order and finally hung up on her because it was apparent she was trying to get someone in trouble. American Locksmith did NOT call that locksmith to cancel the request. Approximately ten minutes after our cancellation call to American Locksmith, the locksmith on call called us for directions and we asked for the name of his company so we could just bypass American Locksmith next time. WE STRONGLY ADVISE USING KEY SOLUTIONS in the future and AVOID AMERICAN LOCKSMITH AT ALL COSTS. American Locksmith is nothing more than a referral service. They are rude, unprofessional and do not accurately represent the hardworking men and women willing to come out on call on Saturday evenings. The only reason American Locksmith does not receive a big, fat Lousy F is because of the kindness and professionalism of the Key Locksmith owner. Thanks to him we now have the name of a reputable locksmith which will try in the future.
