This was the second time I have used this company for a remodel. They told me the extensive kitchen remodel (removing walls, popcorn ceilings, windows, adding skylights) would take 5 weeks, and did exactly that is spite of pandemic delays. We love our new kitchen and there were no problems. This is a great remodel company to use.

Working with Tree2Key Builders was a pleasurable experience. I am a licensed contractor who recently relocated from LA to Raleigh and found that Tree2Key is a highly compotent company. Steve Percy, its owner, was a great person to do business with and made the entire process from start to finish very pleasurable. I would not hesitate to do more work on our home with this company in the future. Very fair, reliable and most importantly very responsive to our needs. Fantastic contractor to work with!!

With so much construction happening these days in Raleigh, the idea of finding a great contractor at a reasonable price seemed daunting. Tree 2 Key came to us by referral from a neighbor and was great to work with for our attic renovation project. Though our project was on the smaller side of what they do, the were eager to help our vision of a large master suite & bonus room become reality! Bobby and Steve acted professionally throughout the whole project and were helpful with various design ideas, considerations for cost savings and very considerate to the fact that we were still living in the home during the project. With being a detail oriented couple, we knew we needed a contractor with the same style who helped point things out and responded positively to each topic we brought up. They even helped address other issues that arose downstairs as a result of the construction being done. The selected subcontractors for all the work done were also great to work with. You could tell Tree 2 Key is selective and works with some of the best. Tree 2 Key did not disappoint and responded promptly to questions and requests. I would recommend them to anyone looking for great and dependable contractors in the greater Raleigh area!

This was an excellent experience from quote to completion. Tree 2 Key was polite, responsive, professional, and competitively priced. They even went beyond with some of my minor quibbles about touch ups at the end. We were pleased when the project finished earlier than expected. I would recommend them to anybody I know. In fact, I already have. They're going to give a quote for my finishing my parents' basement.

We could not be happier with our experience working with Steve and with the final outcome. From start to finish, Steve was responsive, transparent, and easy to work with. The estimates were detailed, clear, and accurate. Steve was patient and supportive as we worked through design details, and we really appreciated his expertise in helping us turn our ideas and preferences into practical solutions. Steve's commitment to quality was evident through the whole process; he was always willing to ensure that everything was done right, and that we were happy. He was onsite often to direct and check-in with his team, and also to check-in with us to ensure that our expectations were being met, and to keep us well-apprised as the project progressed. Thanks to Steve, we now have a basement that we love and that we actively are enjoying with friends and family. We would work with Steve again in a heartbeat!

Steve’s great coordination skills prevented a chaotic and stressful home remodeling project and instead resulted in a hassle-free, smooth running experience for us. He and Bobby did a great job in minimizing the disruption to our lives during construction and at the same time crafted a beautiful first floor design that we will enjoy for years to come. We highly recommend them to anyone considering any design and build project.
Description of Work: We added a bedroom with bath on the ground floor, converted the deck to a room, doubled the size of another bedroom; built a concrete patio, replaced the HVAC system, expanded kitchen cabinet/counter, built a pantry, installed skylights, installed mini-split and exhaust fan in garage.

Steve was very responsive, and answered all my questions--which were many. He was also ver receptive to my input. His quote was reasonable and he seemed genuinely excited to take on my project. While we were weighing which contractor to go with, he would periodically send me ideas for the room. Although ultimately we opted to go with a contractor we had worked with previously and already had an established relationship, Steve was on our shortlist.

The contractor came over and we went over what I was looking for, but I never got a quote. He also was answering texts and phone calls from other clients while meeting with us. Pretty unprofessional to say you’re going to give a quote and then not follow up after a month. We gave plenty of time and we tried to reach out and got no response.

Went well. Finished product is amazing. Would work with Steve again. He made sure we got the project finished on time so we could move in on our timeline. We love our newly remodeled home! Steve was a great wealth of information and has all the right people to get things done. He even went above and beyond to correct an issue that was a communication error but it bothered my wife (thanks Steve)! 5 stars on the job

Overall, the project turned out magical. Steve was extremely interactive throughout the project and made seemingly complex issues fall into place with only a few conversations. In the beginning, I underestimated the amount of decisions required in a timely fashion to maintain the original construction time-line. Nonetheless, his subcontractors were responsive throughout, with a few making multiple visits to ensure I was satisfied. He collaborated with my designer on a few occasions to ensure adequacy of design elements. Over the years, I have dealt with a few contractors. Steve is one of the few that strives to ensure you are thrilled with the outcome and is not content until you are. He involved us in relevant components of the process with plenty of communication, but does expect you to trust his judgment and be mindful of not micromanaging him as with many professionals. However, during construction, he was always willing to make amendments to the original plan, and discussed possible additional charges which helped gauge my convictions. After utilizing Steve, I could not imagine contracting with anyone else, especially when a relatively large amount of money is at stake for contracted improvements. Thank you Steve, for creating such a beautiful living space.
Description of Work: A whole-house renovation to the studs of a 1960's ranch over a basement. The home was deconstructed to the studs, walls were removed in collaboration with engineering plans to create an open floor plan. Ultimately, the home was reconstructed one component/system at a time, which included new plumbing, electrical, HVAC, insulation, flooring, drywall, cabinets, fixtures, and appliances in a similar manner as illustrated on a few of the pop culture HGTV real estate television programs.

Steve was a real professional and went above and beyond to accomodate our schedules for meetings and discussions since we were out of town and not always available. He was committed to our mutual success and the finished product turned out better than I could have ever expected. I would certainly use Steve again if another project presents itself. He was a great partner.
Description of Work: My husband I purchased a home in Cary while still living in Virginia trying to sell our home there. My dream home has always been to have a walk in shower and ample room to move around. We worked with Steve Percy to design the renovations to the house that we could both enjoy and afford. He made great recomendations for the changes in both the bathroom and front living area in order to make a home office for me.

Our names are Bill and Lisianna McManes and we contacted WS to be one of 4 bidders on finishing 3/4 of our basement (1700 sq feet) including a full bathroom with shower, a large office/bedroom and a great room. Their bid was not the highest or the lowest but the rep (Steve) was knowledgeable, sincere and helpful. In the beginning we were thinking of using cash but were advised against that by our accountant so we contacted Quicken who we have used several other times. After a few weeks of work with the re fi group (we were not going to decide the who until we had the $) we discovered that the appraisal was not sufficient to cover all that we would need. So we decided to cancel the project. I called all the bidders and all but 1 said "ok, sorry to hear that". That one was Steve from WS. He asked if he could stop by with an idea. We agreed and when he came he had information on a lender that appraised the property at the value after the work was done and gave us a name at the vendor (BB&T) and a senior person in loans to talk to (Fina Curtis). Fina was a real pro and the program was fantastic and we were able to meet all financial goals and do the job. The job started and we were introduced to Wayne (the PM). Wayne was all business and set about creating a master schedule and lining up all of the duties (including ours--like picking carpet, tile and fixtures) with dates to be done by. The work commenced and about halfway thru we had a scheduled trip to Europe. It was absolutely no issue as Wayne put in a lockbox and oversaw all the work while we were away. The house was taken well care of and no one came above the basement door (inside). I would trust Wayne and WS again if ever needed to work on my home whether anyone was here or not. As in any complex project there were minor bumps in the road but we were always kept informed as to when and where things would happen and they almost always happened on time and UNDER budget. Wayne has been excellent in keeping things on track and well in hand. And the quality of all the work has exceeded our expectations. I was impressed from the very beginning with the quality of the framing work and remained so all the way thru the finished product. They even came back 3 weeks after completion to fix a few issues we had missed in final walk thru. Highly recommend these guys--for all facets--from the sale to the delivery every step is quality. They are not the cheapest nor the most expensive but I am positive they are the best. All you need to do is look at the work and you will see for yourself. Oh yes and we upgraded the carpeting and added a concrete patio and we were only $190 over budget for the original job!

We can't say enough good things about WS Builders. They did a major renovation and addition for us and from the initial meeting until sign-off things were on schedule, on time and completed to our (and their) satisfaction. We had never done a project this large and were pretty apprehensive about the process, the impact on our daily lives and the expenses running out of control like you so often hear about. We are admittedly very picky about our home and getting quality work done, which has resulted in some nightmare projects for us in the past. We never once felt like it was "us vs. them" like we have with contractors previously. Wayne ran our project like a finely tuned machine...he was on the job almost daily, never more than a few minutes to respond to a text or call, things were kept clean, all subs were on time, courteous and respectful of our home and any time we had unexpected issues it was taken care of immediately. We never once felt like we were secondary to other projects or that someone was too busy for us. Wayne asked often throughout the project if we were happy with how things were going, if we had any issues or concerns. All work was done to Wayne's high standards and he had no problem telling someone to change it if it was not. In addition to being great guys, both Wayne and Steve really do try their best to give you a great product at a fair price that will meet your expectations. We've been absolutely thrilled with the results of our project.

We can not say enough good things about these guys. We were SO fortunate to have found them! We interviewed six GCs and WS was the only company that prior to hiring made a lot of good suggestions and points to consider before starting our project. It was clear from the start that they knew what they were talking about and that this wasn't their first rodeo! We really needed a company that would guide us for this big project as we'd never done one before and sometimes you just don't know what questions to ask. Their structured procedure and step-by-step timeline were so incredibly helpful in making clear what was going to happen, when, by whom, and what my husband and I needed to do on our end to keep things on schedule. This was imperative as they started in November and I was due with my second child in mid-February! Not surprising, they finished right on time and we are so happy with our new space. Steve and Wayne were amazing to work with -- always available, quick to respond to concerns, so professional, flexible and efficient. All of their subcontractors were thorough and conscientious (a few we will use in the future for small projects) and it was obvious that they all had been working with WS for a while and had great working relationships with them. Small corrections happened so quickly that we can honestly say there was not a thing that happened during this project that we felt were "headaches." It was as simple as having a question, calling or texting Wayne, and he would respond immediately. Communication was key with us and these guys are so good that even when I was in the hospital for a week, right in the middle of the project, there was no problem because Wayne knew exactly what I wanted and just kept things moving forward so we never got behind despite my being unavailable (my husband didn't know all the ins and outs of the project and I was the point of contact!) We have already recommended WS to other friends and neighbors, as well as some of the subcontractors who we felt were fantastic to work with. Without reservation we would recommend these guys to anyone needing GC services to manage a project!

Bottom Line: Yes, I would use them again. Yes, I recommend them for a large-scale home renovation. Yes, I am very satisfied with the end result. Details: I used WS Builders for a $150k, 6-7 month home renovation in 2015. We initially chose them because they had a LOT of experience doing renovations (versus new home builds) and had a reasonable cost (not the lowest - not the highest). We also really liked the subcontractors and trades folks that we met prior to signing a contract. In addition, I felt really good about their project manager, Garry Walker, from our first introduction. Ultimately, he is the reason I went with this builder. My instincts about him were correct - he was detail-oriented, cared about the results. Was well-liked and respected by the subcontractors, had a calming effect on me and is just an all-around great guy. We had something major completed on every floor of our house, including new foam insulation in the attics. Full gut on master bath and kitchen, moving a few doorways and walls, widening of windows. Outside brick work, and all new carpet, hardwoods and paint throughout the house. Our project did run longer than expected. Not all that surprising since we ran into a major structural issue after months of work. The issue required a stoppage of work, additional time and consideration to determine the best way to fix it and redo of some work that had already been completed. However, to their credit - I would have never known about the issue unless they had told me (until maybe year's later when it was a HUGE issue). And true to their word, they did not charge me a penny for all that work. With this issue alone they had earned my full trust. As far as the work performed by their subs... The electrical team was fabulous. Their plumbers, painters, trim and foam insulation teams were great. The tile folks were good. HVAC and hardwood installers were just okay. On a personal note, everyone they brought into my home was friendly, professional, courteous, trust-worthy, mostly on time and cleaned up after themselves. In addition, the project manager let me know in advance who would be there on a particular day and what they were tackling. All of this was important to me as a female who was by herself (most of the time) living in the basement while all this was taking place. During renovations, there was always some unexpected things that happen. No difference here. However, I will say that Garry (our project manager) would notice something amiss right away and fixed it without me having to point out a few little things, he got them repaired right away. I only have two complaints and they are minor. (1) They used a make-shift dumpster (no floor to it-just wood planks tied together on the sides). Therefore, some of the items would come out the sides over the months that it was in front of our house. Also, when it was removed after project completion, it was taking a long time to get everything out of the dirt (namely broken glass fragments). (2) I did not always receive change orders in writing before the work was completed. And, yes, I extended their scope a couple of time while they were here. However, even though I did not have change orders in writing (always makes me nervous) all the end pricing, results and timing was just as Garry said it would be. They never tried to pull anything over on me. Again, bottom line - do not hesitate to us WS Builders and make sure you ask for Garry as your project manager.

We were incredibly happy with WS Builders. From our first meeting with Steve to the final sign-off all aspects of the renovation were handled courteously, professionally, and promptly. The end product is better than we imagined and really added to the enjoyment of our home. The initial quote was very competitive on price and very detailed which greatly increased our comfort level. Throughout the duration of construction, the communication with the project manager was great and all of our questions were always quickly answered with patience and the right level of information. Any issues that occurred during the project were always handled quickly and fairly. I really can't say enough about how good the overall experience was working with WS Builders. I would highly recommend using them for any renovation project.

Chapel Ridge Estates is located on the Olive Chapel Road in Apex which has totally 6 custom built homes built by Tree 2 Key LLC (including WS Builders, Vanderbilt Homes, Vanderbilt Realty). We signed a $500K contract with the builder (Wayne Koluch) for the last available home (1517 Olive Chapel Rd) on Nov. 12, 2015. We were very excited about the new house until we saw builder's responses on two major safety issues. First, the bottom of the vent hood is 52 inches above the stove (88 inches above the ground). We (5??9? and 5??6? tall) have to stand on toe and lean on the stove to reach the switches, which may cause severe burn and injuries during daily use if not 100% cautious. Talked with the manufacturer, and suggested 21-24 inches above the stove. This vent hood (250CFM) at 52 inches is not working at all since all cooking contaminants splash outside. Second, the glass shower door on the 1st floor bathroom was not installed as shown on the floor plan, which hits the toilet when the door is opened. This makes it difficult to enter the shower, as the door will only open to 60-70 degrees. If opened with force, the toilet and/or glass door could be damaged. We requested the builder to repair/improve more than 10 times; however, the builder always beat around the bush and never agreed to act. Here is the builder?s response, ?The home is complete. This range hood setup is typical and Buyer may make changes if they desire after closing?, and ?Shower door is functional and should be used with care similar to other shower doors?. So we went to other neighbors, and found their vent hoods are only 32-40 inches above the stove, not to mention the powerful vent hoods (600 CFM) they have. So how typical is 52 inches above the stove with a weak vent hood (250 CFM)? Neighbors also have no such shower door issue. Surprisingly, the builder also gave credits to the neighbors for refrigerators, blinds, club memberships, structural change, etc. But for us, NOTHING! We are paying the similar price on the house, not to mention that this home is the smallest among them. Additionally, each neighbor has a privacy wall installed in the screen porch except for us. The neighbor next to us said the seller agent (Trent Meunier) promised them to install a privacy wall if buyer comes, because they care a lot about privacy. We brought this issue to the builder and seller agent at least 3 times, no response at all. At last on the due diligence date, the seller agent texted me ?I NEVER PROMISED A WALL?. We also went to the Town of Apex three times, and the code enforcement supervisor says these may not violate the codes, but he suggested the builder to lower the vent hood per manufacturer specifications, and the glass shower door is a safety hazard. Even we notified what Town of Apex said, the builder still refused to repair/improve, and only agreed to act if what we said is true and it?s needed to pass the final inspection. The builder probably knows these two safety issues are not code violation based on his ?25 years experience?, and just wait to see if current conditions can pass the final inspection. That?s why he never agreed to address and repair. We consulted with many local builders, general contractors, Lowes, and Home Depot, everyone said these are stupid and terrible designs and the builder should have them repaired before starting to sell this house. Lots of them suggested us to back out due to the builder?s arrogant attitude toward these issues. We asked the builder and the seller agent the same questions 3 times, ?Would you buy such a house with an unreachable vent hood and a potentially smashed shower door? Are you going to risk the lives of your family members?? As usual, NO ANSWERS! We kept requesting the builder to address these two issues, but both the builder and the seller agent argued how reputable the builder and the company are; how gorgeous and beautiful the home will be after closing; how they honored the addendum and contract; how they perform the 2 & 11 months warranty services. We as buyers honored the same thing (paid off my car loan, hard pull several times, paid for inspection, appraisal, survey, etc). And what can we expect the builder to do after purchasing the house, as currently he refused to address safety issues and repair for us? We are not paying half million for an unreachable and ?disabled? vent hood for our daily cooking, as well as a potentially dangerous glass shower door. So on the due diligence date, in order to keep our earnest money safe, we gave the builder one last chance to address these safety issues. Unsurprisingly, the builder chose to terminate. My guess is that there might be other higher offers coming after we signed the contract, so the builder refused our requests (estimated $3,000 to repair) and just kicked us out. So is the builder hoping that the next buyer will not point these things out? To this end, I have shared our real horrible experience with this so-called "honorable? custom builder and company. We lost couple of thousands bucks, but we are now relieved. But to you, a potential buyer of 1517 Olive Chapel Road, we want you to be 120% cautious with this builder. Never sign a contract with them before they meet all your requests! Do NOT pay more than 500K for this house! Ask for credit! One more thing, AVOID Tree 2 Key LLC if you can.
Description of Work: Builder refused to repair safety issues in a custom built home. We were very excited about the new house until we saw builder's responses on two major safety issues. First, the bottom of the vent hood is 52 inches above the stove (88 inches above the ground). We (5’’9’ and 5’’6’ tall) have to stand on toe and lean on the stove to reach the switches, which may cause severe burn and injuries during daily use if not 100% cautious.
