The technician came much sooner that originally scheduled, which was fine with me since I was home all day anyway with a busted heat pump. He was very courteous, professional and friendly. He diagnosed my heat pump was a bad compressor I believe and gave me an estimate on a new compressor and an estimate on a new heat pump system. I didn't see any sense in putting any more money into a 16 year old system. I could tell he hated to tell me the bad news on having to get a new system and could tell that he was an honest person so I didn't feel like he was only trying to get money out of me. He never pressured me into either getting a new system or having it repaired. I ended up going with another company for my new heat pump install only because they gave me a better price and was also a great company to work with but if you want great and honest service, you can't go wrong with Standard! I honestly can't say enough GOOD things about the service I received. All the way from my initial call to the receptionist to the service technician. I am very happy I called them!

At first he had difficulty trying to determine where the leak was coming from because the heat pump was on a platform right over where the leak was. He also commented that the installers made some careless mistakes and we should try to get them taken care of since the system was probably still under warranty. He checked the filter and because we hadn't changed it recently he said this was what caused the problem.

My entire experience with standard heating and air-conditioning was excellent. They arrived on time for the estimate, and thoroughly explained everything that was needed and the reason why it had worn out prematurely. I recently purchased this home and had a home warranty however no other HVAC company was willing to work with that home warranty. I understood that I would have to pay for the repairs out-of-pocket and the warranty company would reimburse me. The warranty company wanted to speak with whatever repair company I chose in order to get the estimated amount and technical details behind the repairs that were needed. Without this call the warranty company was not willing to reimburse me for any repairs.Standard heating and air-conditioning went out of their way to work with the warranty company on my behalf. Their five-minute phone call to my warranty company save me $900 on this $1200 repair, and no other HVAC company (I tried 2 others befor finding Standard) as willing to make that five minute call. The work was done on time and for the estimated amount. It has been approximately nine months since the repair was made and it is still functioning flawlessly. I will not hesitate to call standard heating and air-conditioning for any maintenance, repairs or equipment purchases in the future

Excellent work, very professional. We had talked to several other service providers. Each had their own solutions to the problem of a HOT bedroom.. We called Standard, and they had the most sensible solution. They replaced 3 of the current vent covers with larger ones, and added a vent. It works great. Thank you for your honesty and prompt service. They are now our go to folks for air and heat.

Things went perfectly. After a delay that was not Standard's responsibility, things went smoothly and on schedule. The two installation technicians were prompt, very clean, courteous and let me know when they were leaving and returning. I asked for a favor outside the scope of their duties and they confirmed something I was noticing in the attic insulation. I asked for extra carpentry work to completely hide a refrigeration line and they contacted someone who did a great job. The sheet rock work in the ceiling matched the pattern that was already there. The unit was installed safely and securely. They were very courteous and professional. I also tend to ask technical questions; I learned a lot about the new inside and outside units. Several days later, a senior technician came by and explained the technical features in further detail, what filters to use, etc. etc. I also asked this service technician to take a look at the unit in the attic as we had just bought the house. He went all over with me in the attic and confirmed a variety of energy conscious matters. I agreed to go with a maintenance contract after the professional installation.

Financing was really helpful. With such a great cost, they were able to give us years with no interest financing. The system is a high quality system. The work was almost completed within the time frame they stated. When called to look at the system, they sent someone promptly. I appreciate their professionalism.

I am satisfied with the work and price. I was not satisfied with the service I received. The technician agreed to do the work over two days. He agreed to come out 1st thing each morning. The 1st morning he called and let us know that due to an emergency he would be late. The second day my wife called me to say that they had not shown up and this was about 12:30PM. So I called to find out what was going on. I was told that it had snowed so they would not be able to come out to do the work. I supervise telecom techs that were all out working in the same areas at 8:00AM, and had driven around the area where I live as well as the adjoining county where this company is actually located. It was in no way unsafe for them to come and do the work that they said they would. Even if it had been a phone call would have been the least I expected but as I said I had to call them. They worked the job the following day which was Saturday which is the only reason I am giving them a "C" rather than an "F"

The circulating pump in my attic froze. It busted which caused a flood in my home. The service gentleman (Casey), was very professional. He had to locate the replacement pump. He did a lot of legs work trying to locate a replacement and he also stayed in touch. Keeping me updated on what was going on. It was going to take 5 weeks to get a replacement pump. He was able to purchase another brand and with a little altering he was able to install it and everything is working fine. If I ever need to have work done on my HVAC system I plan on contacting Standard Heating and AC. From the first call to the repair they were all very professional and made a bad day seem a little less terrible.

Replaced a controller that was under warranty.

The guy came and spent half an hour here. He picked up on some things that no one else had picked up on. I told him my system is about 18 yrs old. I didn’t want my system to go out in the winter. He said everything was really good for its age.

I was impressed by the promptness of response. Our air went out on Sunday night. The house was quite hot. My husband called several companies before getting a response from Standard Heating and Air. They were the only business to return our call promptly. Scott was very professional and honest. He did a thorough servicing on both upstairs and downstairs units and was able to salvage our downstairs unit (hopefully to last another season or two). From the time of our call until the time Scott arrived was about 45 minutes. He was at our residence before we even had to leave for work.

The technician, Scott, arrived promptly as scheduled and was very courteous and professional. He listened intently as I explained a lingering problem with water coming out from under the air handler inside, a problem another service provider had tackled twice before without success. Scott asked several questions, looked at the equipment, and then explained what needed to be done and why. I was impressed with his technical expertise and what he said made sense to me, so I told him to do the work. He ran a new drain line at the proper angle and with the right kind of trap in the line. He also cleaned the coils both on the air handler and on the outside heat pump while he was there. The old drain line had been cleaned out twice before by the other service provider, but that had not fixed the water problem. What Scott did has finally fixed the problem and allows us to use our air conditioner. It is a relief to be able to run the air conditioning without the fear of water damage from the steady stream of water which came out from under the air handler before Standard fixed it this time. Now it is completely dry undeneath the air handler.

It went great. I wanted a heat pump that was super efficient and one that had more capacity than my current needs due to planned room additions. I never expected to see any Return On Investment due to the high cost of the unit. I was waaay wrong. Since Installation one year ago my electric bill has been between $30 and $50 per month cheaper each and every month of the year. The extra money spent for a larger than needed heat pump and one that was super efficient was well worth it as viewed now one year later. The "Carrier" brand competitor in this area is Sears......and I'm happy to have chosen Standard Heating and Air,,,very happy. I live half way between Morganton and Lenoir in the woods where my neighbors are the wildlife. The heat pump is so quiet that the deer, turkeys, coons, and squirrels are not bothered by it when it cuts on near where they feed in my yard. When in my home at a window next to the heat pump I can't hear it.

It went very smooth and have no complaints. The price was high but with 3 years and 0% interest I couldn't pass it up.

In the ad in publication, they advertised free efficiency test that they will provide after service. 3 generations owned, I like working with local companies. He is certified with energy efficiency, belongs to Green Living.
