Swim Lawn & Landscape

I hired Swim Lawn with the agreement that they would give me a smooth lawn and a good stand of grass. I stated this in my initial discussion with Mr. Swim and multiple times prior to the commencement of work. After work was done I watered the lawn daily. After 6 weeks it was clear that the grass coverage was thin and there were multiple bare areas. I called Mr. Swim and asked him to come look at it and see what could be done. He said that he had already driven by my hose and that the yard "looked good from the road". Only 20% of my yard is visible from the road due to an embankment. I asked, and he agreed, to come and walk the yard so he could see the problem. After several weeks and multiple voice mails I again reached Mr. Swim and asked if he had examined my yard. He said he had, but again stated that the yard looked good from the road. I told him that I didn't have a good stand of grass and asked if he would come and finish the job. He adamantly claimed that the job was finished. He then said that it would probably only require an hour to aerate and reseed the yard, and that he'd get back to me. All this was several months ago. I'm still waiting on that call. I have purchased materials (mulch, dirt, gravel) from Swim Lawn dozens of times over the years. The staff has always been helpful and courteous, and I intend to continue to purchase from them. I cannot, however, recommend the landscaping side of this business.

They delivered dirt with a few stones mixed in it instead of what I ordered, stone. My receipt states stone. I now know I paid $100 over what others in the area would of charged. The owner of this property (I manage) where the delivery was made refused to pay for the dirt mix and I was stuck with a $385 bill out of pocket. I called the owner of Swim Lawn and Landscape many times and sent 2 letters asking them to correct the problem and Mr. Swim, the owner, totally disregarded all attempts to come to a solution. I contacted another service (Lake Norman Stone and Gravel) who completed the job correctly (for $2500) and for the correct price without any problems. As you would assume, I would not recommend Swim Lawn and Landscape. Other services in the area are far more reliable and less costly.
