He supplied me with a very thorough report of the condition of my attic and the insulation. I thought I had a small animal issue and he was able to deal with that problem as well. I thoroughly enjoyed working with them.

+ 2 moreSales person very professional and prompt. Recommended work, I accepted. Installers prompt and completed work in a timely manner. Since then I have contacted them to repair/replace an old attic fan. They were hours late to arrive, were not able to do the work at that time, and then cancelled their next appt just 7 mins before they were to arrive (due to rain at their shop). I will perhaps seek another company.
Description of Work: Inspected attic. Installed insulation on walk-thru door and pull-down stairs.

+ 0 moreHe is just very straightforward, frank and honest. I appreciate that in a contractor. He did what he was very good at and he did it very well. I was very pleased with the pricing. It was probably one of our better investments. On the overall visibility of our house, it was so hot up there, it was very, very hard to cool the second floor so it dropped the temperature in our attic by at least 40 degrees. We were able to keep our upstairs much cooler. He came in and came out and he cleaned up the area that he did around the roof. he was fantastic. He takes this one little niche and just completely excelled at the project. He knows what he does and what he's good at. He knows how to do it and did an exceptional job.

The contractor spent more time telling me what I needed to do such as add insulation and an attic fan than he did reviewing the inspection report with me. He was good but I would have preferred more discussion regarding the status of my ventilation.

When I explained some of the other issues (insulation falling off in the crawl space, etc.), he suggested that instead of this inspection, I do a whole-house insulation study with a draftmeter. He said there's no use spending his time today when he could come back and include that in a larger job. He was there for about 10 minutes while we discussed this, we scheduled the larger inspection, and he directed me to Angie's List for a refund for this particular inspection.

+ 1 morecan't remember all the detials, but what I do recall, there were two installers and they worked in unison to create the opening in the roof and install the fan. they set the automatic turn on to start the fan when the internal temp reaches 85 and turn off when the attic is cooler. I could not test the operation until we finally had some heat and humidity. It does seem to keep the internal temperatures in the upstairs more like the downstairs.
Description of Work: Installed attic fan on roof; checked insulation in attic; removed old insulation from drop down stairs; stalled zipped cover for entry to attic from drop down stairs.

Although we did not select to get anything done at this time, the report he provided was very thorough and detailed what we need to know. We still may have some of the suggestions completed and would likely select Jeff to do the work.
Description of Work: Fan Man will re-secure any existing baffles in the attic over intake vents, if needed • A complete analysis of the homes' ventilation ¸ Fan Man will enter the attic and do a complete inspection to include the following: ¸ Measure the depth of insulation ¸ Calculate the R value you currently have in attic ¸ Calculate the additional R value needed to meet North Carolina Building Codes meets NC code ¸ Recommend the amount required to meet the Department Of Energy ¸ Inspect crawl space (on a slab) NA ¸ Inspect Bathroom fans, exhaust pipes, can lights, for proper installation ¸ All fans, and exhaust pipes working correctly and vented properly. ¸ Inspect the underside of roof deck for water damage ¸ Inspect exhaust vents to assure they meet code and are not blocked ¸ Provide a written estimate on any additional work needed Recommend that Can lights are sealed in and insulated properly in main attic space.

Description of Work: Inspected the attic for proper levels and installation of all insulation. Checked roof for soundness and all attic areas for pests. I then had Fan Man return and install an attic ventilation fan in the attic to pull hot air out.

+ -1 moreThe experience was great. We found this provider at a home show. He came to our house and provided an estimate, told us we needed just one fan and then put it in. He was very professional, did not leave any mess and it was amazing. I think he was here for about 2 hours and it was done. He just popped it in and it will save us some money on air conditioning in the summer. Only one guy came in, I forgot his name, but he was great. He came when he said he would and asked where I wanted him to put the fan. The price was much cheaper than I thought it would be, considering he had to put a hole in my roof. He was on time and called me a day ahead to remind me of our appointment. He was real professional.

We contacted The Fan Man and they came out and were able to determine exactly why we had the issue and what the best remedy would be. Two days later, the two fans were installed and we noticed an immediate difference! They were very prompt, courteous. Of all the options, they actually steered us away from the more expensive one.
