Fan Man

Good experience. Jeff was timely, knowledgeable and professional. Offered some recommendations on energy saving options for our home.

The audit went extraordinarily well, in that I found out that the work that was supposed to be done by the other company Duke recommended was never done, but we were charged for it nevertheless. Jeff provided me guidance as to what was promised and what was actually delivered. When I called the other company to address, the owner came over and saw that the work indeed was not finished from a year earlier. Because of Jeff, I was able to discuss and resolve the situation with the previous contractor. They came back and completed the job that I paid them for a year earlier. Jeff then suggested other areas that were more important to preserving energy than what we had done, and provided details and a fair estimate. The work was done on time, professionally, and our upstairs is now finally feeling more comfortable. Previously we were unable to use key rooms due to poor insulation and associated problems, e.g., bonus room over garage. Now we can! As a side note, we thought something may have happened to one of our light switches, e.g., possibly a staple had gone through copper wiring when all the insulation work was being done. I reached out to Jeff who quickly forwarded it to their onsite electrician. The electrician came out the following day, and found that the dimmer switch was also associated with another switch in the house, and we had turned it off (our fault). The electrician was kind enough to say that this happens more times than most know about, and then said there was no service call fee. Impressive. Will now use their electrician, too, going forward. I cannot recommend Fan Man enough for not only the quality of their own people and work, but for ensuring the well-being of the customer as a whole. Kudos Jeff and team!

Installer told me they left access to electronic equipment that was installed on the finished side of the wall. This was not the case as discovered when it was necessary to access our TV. All the cords and access connections were sealed off and could not be touched without destroying the work. Called and left message for Dan the sales person over 2 weeks ago and he did not return the call.

We love our attic fan; it comes on when the attic temp. gets to 85 and pulls out the hot air which keeps the lower level of the house much cooler. Great investment.

The crew was on time, very polite, efficient and cleaned up after themselves.

Everything was fine. Work was completed on time and as expected.

Went very well. Two man crew was early, polite, did the job to my satisfaction and left the place clean. The job brought my insulation up to code and Fan Man filed for my state rebate for me. (The cost below is without the state rebate) I'll use Fan Man again.

Owner Mark Romano came out to give me an estimate on a new attic fan per my request. Receptionist was nice, and good comms with Mark. Very old house, and attic insulation was in pretty sad shape so in addition to the new attic fan we discussed box vents and and more insulation. Price was good so I signed them up. Able to book just one week out during peak season at 6am. I expect I got lucky with being able to book so close in. The guys showed up a bit late, but got right to the work and didn't waste any time during the process of installing the new fan and box vents. Insulation blowing also went smoothly. My initial visual inspection revealed high quality work. I'm not an expert, but I pay attention --and will update this if needed -- but I'm not expecting any problems. Would hire these guys again and thanks for the good work Mark & team.

1st visit - two installers arrived at about 9:30 (appointment was for 8). They put the initial plastic down and left at around 3:30. They said they couldn’t finish the job but that a separate crew would be out on Saturday to finish 2nd visit - two different installers arrived, about 2 hours after the appointment time. They were there to put the insulation up against the floor. They left around 4-4:30 I wasn’t getting any air from one vent in the house so I had to go under the house myself to find that the was a torn duct that the air conditioning people failed to find/ report, the duct cleaning people also failed to find/ report, and installers failed to report. In the process, I found that the vapor barrier wasn’t installed all the way to the walls in the back corner of our house under the bathroom. The side wall did not have the plastic extended up against the wall, there were areas of floor that had no insulation, some of the insulation was falling down, or had fallen down, the wire supports were either in the wrong position, or had completely fallen down. 3rd visit to discuss was a no show for 11:00 a.m. time. No phone call to advise that they couldn’t be here. 4th visit - The installers showed up at 2:00 p.m. for a 12:00 pm appointment. I had travel arrangements so couldn’t stay. Upon my return, I inspected the entire crawl space, printed some of the pictures and took them to the office. 5th visit: Appointment, after discussion about my complaint, was set for 7:00. The crew arrived around 7:15 with the number of people promised. They used insulation board cut in strips nailed to the floor joists to support the insulation. The insulation that was to be added was a different brand/ color than the initial. They left around 11-11:30. No one said anything to me. They packed up and moved on. Next day - I went back under the house to check and take more pictures. Immediately, I saw an insulation board end resting on the ducts. The back corner plastic had been pulled to the corner and insulation installed under that floor. Moving through the rest of the corners, I found one small area still without insulation. The rest of the batting had been secured as discussed and additional “trash” removed. New plastic was put over the area damaged by installers (air conditioning & insulation). I grabbed some loose nails that had been used to secure the board with and fixed the end that was lying on the duct by the back entrance. I wrote the company a recap and released them from any further work. Tired of dealing with them. Note: This is an old “Mill” house built over a narrow & uneven crawl space with unevenly spaced floor joists. The owner commented that they should never have bid the jo

Tech scheduled and came out for our energy audit., said we would get an energy assessment sent via email. no email ever showed up, we even called to give them an alternate email as they said it may not have gone through to the original email address we gave them, no emails or response from fan man, wife said tech seemed to default to wanting to sell attic fans without proper assessment we were expecting to make that claim. stay away!!

It went okay. We had extra work done. They did general air leak sealing, installed insulation, and installed an attic fan. The actual installer wasn't very professional. He wasted our time. He left early on days he could have kept working and he kept wanting to reschedule for other days which caused us to take days off. The entire company promised to do things that they couldn't do that well. There were things that they said they would do that they couldn't complete. I'm upset about that, that they weren't able to complete it.

Purchased the $99 Angie's List special which included 500 sq feet of Insulation and an Energy Audit. The sales rep called ahead of time to let me know that he was running a little late. Once he arrived he went into the attic and confirmed my suspicion that I was materially below code for Insulation. He also noted a big area that was not insulated. primarily used for running cable wires etc. He showed me the photos. Also listened to my concern over the fact that the HVAC would go non stop in the Summer. Quoted me a fair price on top of the Angie's deal. Also said that some of the work was eligible for a $250 check from Duke and they would handle all of the paperwork. Scheduled the time for the team to come out and do the work. Install team also called and said they were running late as well. (I thought the communication was great). The team quickly got to work when they showed up, but when they went to blow in the insulation, they had an issue with the machine and had to go to Lowe's to rent another one. They cleaned up after themselves and he showed me the after photos. Been 2 weeks but notice that the house is warmer given some of the unseasonal cold weather.

Had I simply done the initial deal through Angie's List, this would have been rated A all around. The salesman then offered additional services, telling me it would cost virtually nothing after an available Duke rebate. The rebate was HALF of his stated amount. Everyone was nice as pie, installers were knowledgeable, careful, and cleaned up after themselves. My sole reservation is that I feel foolish for believing the salesman and not checking the details before handing over my credit card.

Great, I bought the big deal and things flowed from there. In and out and professionally done. The attack tent I got in the deal cost more than the deal itself and I got 200 sq ft of insulation to boot!

The process was a two visit ordeal. The first visit included the comprehensive energy audit including inspection of the attic, crawl space and all areas of potential air / heat loss. To perform the inspection, they attached a large fan to the front door and essentially created a vacuum to spot air leaks. The report came a day later with a quote for any additional recommendations. Then less than a week later another crew came to the house and installed the insulation. Great experience all the way!

They initially came last week to measure and completed the job today. Everything was wonderful-- they came on time, worked quickly and efficiently, and couldn't ask for better service.

Great experience all around. Had used Fan Man previously at a different residence for attic fan. Saw the energy audit offer and knowing we had significant issues purchased the deal. Had all the work done that was recommended and it has made a tremendous difference in the comfort of the second floor. Will need to see if we realize energy savings on utility bill-sure hope to, but the comfort level made all of the difference.

Jeff was polite, respectful, and professional. He was thorough and told us what to do to fix minor problems he found. A belt needs to be replaced in attic fan. We need to have some shingles on roof replaced. He assured us that insulation was in good shape. He did not push his services and answered all our questions honestly. I recommend him and would call him in the future if needed.

Very thorough, clean, helpful. More expensive than anticipated but installation of fan significantly helped air conditioning so cost was justified for us.

It was fine. I did it to find out why my house was so drafty. Not sure it helped.

Purchased a $99 special for the Fan Man to conduct an energy audit. Rich contacted me and we set up a time for the audit. He arrived on time. He spent about 2-3 hours in the home looking at insulation and using a device to detect air leakage around light fixtures and wall plugs. He explained what he was doing the entire time. We had a good conversation about the house and I was better able to understand his testing methods. A day or so later, he provided me with a report of his findings and recommendations, which included projected energy savings, ?estimated pay-back time?, as well as rebates from Duke Energy and discounts ($200 for Angie?s List member) I was eligible for. We had several discussions about his recommendations, and I elected to proceed with a slightly scaled down version. We set up a time for the crew to arrive. The job went very well. The crew was very polite and kept me informed. They showed me photos of the finished job in the attic. Rich was very responsive and great to work with and has promised to submit my Rebate request to Duke Energy on my behalf. I would use them again and recommend the Fan Man.
