The service was very good. We had some problems with them finishing the construction which created scheduling ambiguity and confusion. It also took much longer than it should have, roughly three months to complete the deck. Other than that we're happy with the work that was provided and the quality of the deck is good.

This was the easiest possible process I could have imagined. I already had some plans so they just gave me a quote, timeframe, and went to work. They worked VERY quickly and the quality was impeccable. The board spacing was good, the deck screws were sunk below level (so you don't feel them when walking barefoot), the wood is great quality, the edges were all smoothed and sanded. I can't think of a single complaint so far. I would use them again in a heartbeat and I would definitely recommend them for deck work. They were also the most competitive price for a natural wood deck and I received quotes from 4 companies.

Perfectly. Couldn't have been better.
Description of Work: We searched in the top-ten list and found three who were interested, visited our home, and provided estimates. Deck Pros LLC was very competitive and their lay-out of materials and work schedule was impressive. Having worked for twenty years in real estate sales for building contractors, I recognized a professional in the business. Work began promptly. A couple of unavoidable glitches occurred, and were handled professionally with minimum lost time. Ray and his crew kept us briefed on what was occurring each day and the steps to follow. The product, a front porch on our home, is very impressive, and we are very proud of and pleased with it. I rate Deck Pros at the top of any list, and would gladly recommend them to anyone searching for a top-notch contractor.

The project was quoted properly and came in on budget. The work was done on time and looks great. We had one problem with the lighting but they came right out and repaired.

My overall experience was extremely positive. Ray is trustworthy and easy to communicate with. He was flexible with us as we had some design changes (upgrading the wood, hidden fasteners) that changed the project scope. I couldn't be more pleased with the overall results! The deck blossomed to an amazing outdoor space. His workmanship was incredible. We couldn't be more pleased.
Description of Work: We added a deck extension to our home. It involved removing the old deck, planning and installing the new deck. Ray (owner) was great. Ray used a computer 3D model to show us what our expected projected would look like. He was able to superimpose the deck onto an image of our home. We were able to tweak our design based on this. Work proceeded swiftly; only major delays were weather related.

I regret that the member did not receive his estimate. We usually email all estimates and drawings. When I did his estimate we were in the middle of changinging our ISP so I mailed it. I would be happy to resend it. It was a very small job. Adding three steps to an existing deck, about $150.00. We also had a couple of options priced for his project including new rails and re-decking his deck. Because it was only a 5x8 deck I priced it as time and material. Please feel free to ask me about this report.

I was very pleased with the work the company did for me. I met with Ray,explained what I wanted to do, and he made a few suggestions including changing the type of board I should use to replace my existing deck floor. We agreed on a date and he and his crew were there on time and completed the deck and porch in two days. They cleaned up everything very good. I had one minor correction I wanted Ray to make. He agreed and made the correction the next week. My experience with Ray and his company was a good one.
Description of Work: I had my deck floor boards replaced along with the rail cap. I had my screened porch re-screened and painted.

It was like $4-5,000 and we kept adding things. The owner was very personable and all the people worked for him. He didn't use subcontractors. They were conscientious and cleaned up after themselves. We had a good experience but a couple of things have happened and we've called them back. They have been dillydallying in coming back to do them. Sometimes he calls but sometimes it is days later before he shows up. We would use them again, but we would firm things up regarding timing.

They started right before Christmas and when we started to get a lot of rain. They came in and removed the old deck in one day. Even with all the rain they finished up so that we could actually use our new hot tub in our new deck New Years Eve. They kept a clean organized work site. Ray checked in on the job every couple days. I also asked for a change for two wood gates under the deck during construction and they did a great job with it. I would highly recommend Ray and his crew. We love our new deck and the planning and construction went great, even with all the rain.
Description of Work: They took down our old small deck and removed all the old wood. Ray helped us design a new deck, hot tub area, lighting and privacy fence. He also had great recommendations on railings and wood. We decided on a 650 sq ft deck kiln dried pine deck, cedar posts, cedar privacy fence, black metal railings, platform for deck level hot tub and low voltage lighting. Also had existing irrigation moved.

We began looking for a contractor on Angies list and collecting information and estimates, meeting with several people before making our decision. When we met with Ray, the owner of Deck Pros, we were immediately impressed with his level of expertise and professionalism. He quickly conceptualized what we wanted and drew up his proposal accordingly, making a number of very helpful suggestions that not only saved us money but gave us a better end result that we otherwise would have attained. We were very struck by the standard of quality that Ray holds himself and his people to, and his people are very skilled and friendly. There are so many choices when it comes to hiring a contractor for a project like this ... we did our homework and it paid off. As our project progressed, we became ever more impressed with the quality of work (and attention to detail) our project was receiving. I could easily see how hiring the wrong company would've resulted in a very different end result. One more thing: before beginning our project, we reviewed a number of pictures Ray gave us and chose one in particular we liked and said: make us one like that ... guess what? He did!! In fact, ours came out even better than the picture. Read Ray's reviews... they (like his work) speak for themselves. Deck Pros LLC rates a solid 5-STARS!! - HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

We met with Ray to get ideas and an estimate for replacing our very small deck. He listened to our thoughts on the project, answered all our questions, took measurements, and gave us his ideas on the design of the new deck. We had a design plan and estimate from him within a few days. We decided to go with Deck Pros after comparing all aspects of the job with another estimate we had gotten. We are very happy with the new deck...it is beautiful! Deck Pros did a great job!

They did the deck and they also extended our fence by two or three panels putting a gate on the end. The work was pretty expensive for what they did. It took about a month 1/2 or two months. It took ridiculously long. First they built the deck and then they had a huge problem with ordering materials for the gate. They told us they were getting the run around from the fencing company. I understand they were going through another company to order the materials for the fence. It was a real fiasco. Finally they did get the material and they said they could get a subcontractor to build us a piece for the fence but it would not match. I said no I would much rather wait a couple of weeks to get it right. So we did. The project did end up taking much longer. The deck looks wonderful but the fence we are not too impressed with. They did not really level the pieces they put on so they are crooked. The door to the fence does not really match up with the height of the post to work with the latch. We have problems with it and it just does not work right. They really did not follow up. We had to call them all the time. They did not ever call us. Overall we did not have that great of an experience with them. The deck does look great though. They are not a fencing company. The name says it all; they are pros at decks. I do not feel they should not accept jobs that they could not deliver. As far as accepting the fence part of the job they should not have done that. They should have referred us to a fencing company. That was our main pet peeve about them. The deck I would rate as an A but the fence I would give a C. It is not a cookie cutter square deck. At the first consultation they gave us a lot of suggestions for how to design our deck with an odd shaped back yard. They made it very custom and something that would really meet our needs. That is something I really appreciated.
Description of Work: We hired them to come and extend our deck. The builder only gave us a 10 x 10 deck so we extended it out quite a bit.

I'm very pleased with the design, price, and finished product. Most proposals on replacing my old worn-out deck were fairly plain and cost the same or more. Ray took my desire and made a beautiful design with angled corners, a nice staircase, and diagonal floorboards. I wanted built-in benches with backs around the side and he made a better bench design than I had previously and he had done before. I wanted composite and he suggested EverGrain which is rated well in Consumer Reports. The carpenter suggested I add metal railings which look really great. The carpenter that actually did the work was nice and very good, probably better at construction than Ray who was more of a we-can-rig-up-something guy. He had me pay exactly the original estimate (plus agreed addition for the railings) in installments as constructed, even though the bench construction took longer than he expected. A few last details took a little while since he had trouble finding someone to hook up the gasline to the grill. This dragged on for a couple of weeks but, to his credit, he did eventually follow-up and finish up.
Description of Work: Took down old deck, designed and built larger wrap-around deck with seating, using EverGrain composite wood for exposed surfaces.

Ray, the owner, came out to take a look at my project which I had already started(demoed about half the deck already). I explained to him that I was trying to take on this project myself to save money, but I could see that it would take me far too long to do since I had many other projects going, and I wasn't exactly an expert on deck building. I explained that I wanted a high quality deck constructed from Brazilian Ipe, but I was on a tight budget. I requested that I receive a very itemized quote so that I could tweak it according to my budget. Ray was very flexible and transparent when quoting services and materials. He walked me through the process step by step. He was also very willing to do only parts of the job that I requested so that I could save some money. They required 5% of the total to start the work. Once we agreed on a contract, he began work about a week later. Once work began, they were always there right on schedule. The only delays were weather related. I have a home office, so I was able to watch and ask questions about some "hows and whys" during construction. I had a few suggestions and requests which they completed to my specifications. Many times during a project like this, things that look right in your head don't exactly look right in real life. They guided me through these situations with their experience an know-how. When they left, it was like they were never here. All scraps and materials were cleaned up and disposed of. Even during the project, they would tidy up each night before they left. His crew was very clean and courteous throughout the project. When Ray came out for the final walk through, he noticed that one board was slightly uneven(I didn't notice it)and told me they'd be by to adjust it. I have to say that I am very pleased with Deck Pros. For the price, I feel that I received a bargain on the quality of work that was done. It turned out that because of the price, I didn't have to do any of the work myself. This deck oozes precision and quality. I am very happy with my deck and can't wait to entertain guests come Spring.
Description of Work: Built 2 new Brazilian Ipe decks(main deck in the rear of the house facing the lake and a smaller corner deck which services the master bedroom totaling 600 square feet). Demoed an existing deck. On the main deck they used several existing piers, but had to install 5 extra piers to bring the structure up to code. Installed brand new piers on the bedroom deck.

Overall, it went very well. They were helpful and easy to work with during my constant design changes. The new deck area was small and tight work. The deck is solidly built. Jeff was prompt and always there when he said he would be. Very professional in his work and never failed to ask questions if he was unsure of what I wanted. Everything was done as promised and all debris completely removed. Great job!
Description of Work: We extended our existing deck to incorporate our newly purchased spa. The goal was to match exactly the current deck style and construction. This turned the job into a custom effort as the decking was not standard and required cut to fit construction including the railing posts. The new deck also had angles to match the curve of a walkway that surrounds the deck. One side of the existing decks railings had to be removed. Jeff did a fantastic job and the deck looks like it was always there. Through the process of building the deck, Jeff and Ray worked out all the design changes I kept coming up with and were extremely helpful in providing suggestions and ideas that improved the overall look and construction. The deck was designed and built around the spa to also allow easy removal of the spa's access panels from under the deck and was picture framed in to give the deck a clean look. The deck was built so that the spa lip was just above the deck level. I was so impressed with the quality of work and construction that I had them build benches with backs on two sides of a 12 X 10 concrete patio. This was not a planned project but after seeing pictured examples of similar benches, I had to have them! The benches are designed with sloped backs and are very comfortable to sit in.

Two young men arrived early morning and began removing existing rails. Lumber arrived while they were doing this. I explained they might run into sprinkler heads when they dug post holes. This was done with no damage to the underground irrigation pipes due to careful digging as they came close to the pipes on one post hole. By 3:30 the job was done and the addition looked terrific. Rail face boards were arched to match the existing deck. Half inch holes were drilled to accommodate tiki torches. This was not in the contract. The young men asked more than once if I was happy with the result. I ran the sprinkler system, everything was fine. Friday morning old deck material and pieces of new lumber used in the job were removed. The job site was immaculate. I recommend this company because of the quality of materials used, the work ethic, and how the site was cleaned up. And, by the way, this company had the lowest of three bids, all of which are on Angie's List.
Description of Work: Approximately 80 sq ft was added on to an existing deck. The contract required that the add-on have the exact look of the original deck.

Deck Pro started the project during the 2nd week of July 2007. The deck was complete as far as the carpentry work by the end of July. Deck Pro's carpenter "Rob", did an outstanding job on the construction of the deck. The final phase of the construction was to wrap the deck posts in a cultured stone. We soon found out that the contractor did not have the resources to be able to complete this last stage of construction with the stonework. At one point Deck Pro had the carpenter "Rob", wrap some of the columns with the stone, and he did a great job. But, halfway into the job he was pulled off, and the job left unfinished for a month or more. Eventually toward the end of the year, the columns were completed with the exception of the capstones. I was told early on that there were matching capstones for this cultured stone which turned out not to be true. Caps were fabricated and the deck finished in Dec. My patience was exhausted because of the time it took to complete this job.
Description of Work: I contracted with Deck Pro to build a 16x20 deck using pressure treated lumber, iron balusters, and the deck posts were to be wrapped with cultured stone.

The end product was of excellent quality. They worked with me throughout to create a customized job. Overall, the building experience was frustrating and drawn out. The project took 7 1/2 weeks to complete vs the 1 1/2 weeks originally communicated to me by Ray. Rather than checking on supply availability for materials shortly after contracting the job (about a month in advance), Ray waiting until the last minute to order the needed supplies and ran into backorder issues. Rather than taking accountability for the delay, the suppliers were continually blamed for the delays. The crew building the deck was unprofessional and not very courteous. Trash was continually left in our yard throughout the 7+ wks. This caused problems for our dogs eating the scraps and getting sick. During the building process the crew continually left the backyard fence gates open and then yelled at my wife when the dogs escaped. As much as we love the end result, the overall experience was horrible.
Description of Work: Deck Pros constructed a two tiered deck measuring approx. 16 x 16 ft. on the top tier, two steps down and 16 x 20 ft on the second tier. There were 4 steps down to a 4 ft x 4ft landing and 2 additional steps down to ground level. Decking was all composite using Evergreen composite and railings were black aluminum Fortis rails. The deck will have a built in 36 inch gate and two tiered planters. Supports consist of 6 x 6 posts with pressure treated lumber.

Response from DECK PROS
DECK PROS STRIVES TO SET OURSELVES APART BY DELIVERING THE END PRODUCT THROUGH THE MOST CUSTOMER-FOCUSED, PROFESSIONALLY-EXECUTED CONSTRUCTION PROCESS IN THE INDUSTRY. UNDERSTANDING EACH CUSTOMER'S EXPERIENCE IS IMPORTANT TO US. I REGRET THAT WE WERE NOT ABLE TO MEET THESE GOALS ON THIS PROJECT. DURING THE FOUR YEARS OF DEALING WITH THIS PRODUCT WE HAVE NEVER HAD AN ISSUE WITH DELIVERY TIMES. ON ITEMS THAT ARE READILY AVAILABLE WE PREFER TO ORDER THEM WHEN THEY ARE NEEDED. WE DO THIS TO INSURE THAT THE PRODUCT IS DELIVERED STRAIGHT TO THE CUSTOMER'S JOB WITH THE LEAST OPPORTUNITY FOR DAMAGE. IN THIS PARTICULAR CASE THAT THOUGHT PROCESS DID NOT WORK FOR US. WHILE I AM NOT ONE TO LAY BLAME OR MAKE EXCUSES, I DID FEEL THE MEMBER DESERVED TO KNOW THE REASON FOR THE HOLD UP. AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS TO GET THE MISSING PIECES FROM SUPPLIERS AS FAR AWAY AS TEXAS, I TOOK THE SUPPLIER TO THEIR HOME TO EXPLAIN THE SITUATION. I SPOKE WITH JEFF, OUR MOST EXPERIENCED AND PROFESSIONAL, CARPENTER. HIS RESPONSE WAS, " RAY, YOU KNOW ME BETTER THEN THAT, I WOULD NEVER RAISE MY VOICE TO A CUSTOMER MUCH LESS YELL AT A CUSTOMER." I MAY HAVE SOUNDED FRUSTRATED BUT YOU WOULD TOO IF YOU HAD TO CARRY 200 TWENTY FOOT BOARDS THROUGH A FOUR FOOT FENCE AND TRY TO KEEP TWO DOGS IN THE YARD AT THE SAME TIME. HOW IS THAT POSSIBLE?" AGAIN, I AM DISAPPOINTED IN THIS RATING. I CAN ASSURE YOU WE WILL LEARN FROM THIS EXPERIENCE AND STRIVE TO MEET ALL CUSTOMER'S EXPECTATIONS.

We feel that this is a good company with nice workers. Their prices are slightly higher but you are getting what you pay for, in my opinion. They also tend to work on higher end homes because their work is of higher quality. This has been my husband's project so he took care of all financial arrangements with this company. I have no idea what we paid them exactly. The only thing I will say is that the company took much longer than we had anticipated to complete our addition. They took a long time to screen in our porch. It was supposed to be a four week project and they went over that time frame. Otherwise, we were completely satisfied and would recommend them to others.
Description of Work: On October 30, this company began adding a wooden porch with a screen onto our home. They also added on a deck onto our two thousand five hundred square foot home. I do not know the total square footage of that added space. It is probably something like 12 x 12.

We were out of state during the actual construction but Deck Pros sent us pictures via the internet on a regular basis to keep us involved and up to date on their progress. It did take awhile to complete this large job plus they knew we were in no rush as we had not yet moved in. The room itself is excellent and exactly what we wanted. It is actually the showplace of the whole house. We could not be happier or enjoy this room any more than we do.
Description of Work: Deck Pro built us an enclosed three season room. They also attached a deck/terrace to our house. It is screened in and has the crank out glass windows. It is very large, although I can't tell you the exact dimensions. We chose solid wood ceilings and flooring of some type of composite material that looks just like natural wood. We chose that composite material because there is no upkeep and it is completely weatherproof. The porch and deck/terrace are perfect.

We are very satisfied with the amazing job these guys did for us. We have had so many people compliment our new deck and porch and we do not hesitate to tell them exactly who built it. We had a pleasurable experience with them. Everyone we dealt with was so polite and kind. The overall quickness matched with the amazing craftsmanship from these guys made the experience perfect.
Description of Work: Deck Pro's extended our current deck by about three feet. They also built us a new 15 foot by 30 foot rear covered deck off of our home.
