 + -1 moreThree guys spent the majority of their time on a cell phone and complaining how hot it was outside. When they had finally finished for the day and it was time to write a check, they attempted to "wheel and deal" with me offering a "discount" if I paid cash!! I wonder if the company knows of its' workers practices!! They also damaged some of my furniture and the company attempted to pay me off with a small fee. When I told them I wouldn't accept that, they sent someone out about a week later to repair the damages. I absolultely would not even consider using this company's services again, nor would I recommend them to anyone!

 + -1 moreThree guys came. One man was constantly on the phone. Another man was getting into all of our things and making himself right at home. They asked for cash for a tip. They were very unprofessional. They were also pushing us to hire them privately on the side. We were going to use them to move those things into our new home, but we definitely chose not to use them after the initial experience.
Description of Work: They came to move some heavy things from inside the house out to our storage boxes.

 + -1 moreI'm searching for a word...nightmare? Unfortunately, that implies you wake up. The whole process required a great deal of time, effort and frustration from my pregnant wife who was managing our 1 year old. I had to take over 30 minutes to make multiple calls to the Ark office to rectify the situation. The manager was wholly un-apologetic and his response was, ''it got moved didn't it?'' After a 20 minute conversation, he gave me a $25 credit, so it took $200/2+hours of frustration to move a desk 3 miles. Can I wake up now?
Description of Work: Agreement to move solid oak desk and office chair from my house to storage facility (approximately 3 miles away). First, the movers were 45 minutes late. The movers were surprised to learn they had to move a solid oak desk despite my detailed conversation with the manager. The manager and I discussed the job. He stated that 3 people would be used to move it. Only 2, very slight individuals showed up and then the manager contested having made the original determination on 3. The 2 movers were so hapless that my wife could not watch them move the desk for fear they were going to damage it. The movers were then instructed to follow my wife for the short trip to the storage facility, but their van ran out of gas less than one mile from my house. After waiting 30+ minutes for help from their office, they delivered the desk to the storage facility.

 + -1 moreThey got lost getting to our house. They called for directions and let us know they'd be a little late. There were 3 men who came and moved us in 2 trips. They were very careful with our stuff. I found only 1 broken item and it was my fault (how it was packed) not theirs that it broke. We have a TON of stuff and they worked all day long. They were VERY polite and friendly and worked very hard. They kept our floors clean and were extremely careful with all our furniture. We labeled all our boxes with moving tape specifying the rooms and they put the majority (95%) of the boxes in the right rooms.
Description of Work: They moved our belongings from one house to another house that was 10 miles away. They helped us get the last minute stuff packed so we wouldn't have to do it ourselves at a later time. Someone came out to our house and checked everything we were going to move in order to give us the best price available. We got a 10% discount by using the Yellow Pages. We were given an estimated price and were given the option of paying by the hour or locking in the price. Since we had so much stuff, we figured it would be in our best interest to lock in the price. Besides, you never know what you're going to run into (traffic, accident, etc.).

 + -1 moreThe driver was named John Stephen and he had two other men to help with the delivery. Ark Moving arrived 45 minutes earlier than the scheduled pickup time and promptly delivered the furniture. They were very professional and verified that none of the items were damaged. The only discrepancy was a mathematical error on the invoice but it was immediately corrected. I would use the Ark Moving company again.
Description of Work: I am a repeat customer and use Ark Moving primarily for short notice or last minute moves. On 3/14/06, I had purchased a sofa, over-sized chair, ottoman and computer armoire from a local furniture retailer. Ark Moving picked up the items from the retail location and delivered to my location.

 + -1 moreI've used Ark 4 times over the past 9 years. With the most recent move, the men showed up on time and worked hard to get the move completed quickly. My one issue was that they dragged my 6 month old mattress across the ground, since the side was covered in dirt and twigs. They also ripped a hole in the bottom of the mattress. However, when I brought it to the management's attention, they quickly sent me a check. (I did not purchase extra insurance, so I was only reimbursed 60 cents per pound of the mattress.)
Description of Work: In-town move into a 2 BR townhouse. Paid an hourly rate of $80 (a $10/hr discount for being a repeat customer.)

 + -1 moreARK WAS VERY EASY TO WORK WITH. THERE WAS SOME CONFUSION ABOUT THE PERSON COMING TO GIVE THE ESTIMATE (ENDED UP RESCHEDULING FOR 2 HRS. LATER THAN APPOINTMENT), AND THE MOVERS GOT LOST AND WERE AN HOUR LATE. HOWEVER, THEY WERE REALLY CAREFUL WITH OUR STUFF, AND I WOULD USE THEM AGAIN.

 + -1 moreMOVERS WERE NOT WELL INFORMED AS TO THE SCALE OF THE JOB. THE QUALITY OF PACKING AND CARE TO GOODS DIMINISHED AS THE JOB LASTED LONGER THAN EXPECTED. MANY ITEMS WERE DAMAGED AND THE COMPANY WAS EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO SETTLE WITH. THE COMPANY USES SUB-CONTRACTED LABOR.

 + -1 moreKEITH & RUDY OF ARK MOVERS PICKED UP MY FURNITURE FROM THE RETAIL FURNITURE OUTLET THAT WAS LOCATED 10 MILES FROM MY RESIDENCE. THE SCHEDULED PICKUP TIME WAS 11:30 A.M. AND THEY ARRIVED PROMPTLY ON TIME. USING A CELL PHONE, THEY KEPT IN CONSTANT CONTACT WITH ME UNTIL THE FURNITURE WAS DELIVERED. AFTER THE DELIVERY OF THE FURNITURE, THEY ALSO MOVED AN ENTERTAINMENT CENTER TO THE 2ND FLOOR OF THE RESIDENCE. I WAS PLEASED WITH THE PROFESSIONALISM EXHIBITED BY THE EMPLOYEES AND WILL USE THIS COMPANY AGAIN.

Description of Work: ARK PUT OUR FURNITURE INTO STORAGE. WE PAID $2000+ TO PICK IT UP PLUS $315/MO FOR 30 MONTHS AND WERE QUOTED $2100 TO DELIVER IT TO HENDERSONVILLE. THEIR TRUCK'S TRANSMISSION COULDN'T MAKE IT UP OUR HILL (ALTHOUGH THEY WERE WARNED OF MOUNTAIN ROADS) SO THEY RETURNED THE FURNITURE TO CHARLOTTE, CAME BACK 2 DAYS LATER. CHARGED AN EXTRA $700 FOR 2ND ATTEMPT, PLUS COST OF 2 U-HAUL TRUCKS. FURNITURE SUFFERED MAJOR DAMAGE IN STORAGE (LEAK IN BUILDING AND CARELESS HANDLING). THEY SHORTED US ON THE REPAIR COSTS, THEY SAY THEY'RE NOT EVEN RESPONSIBLE BECAUSE WE DIDN'T BUY ENOUGH INSURANCE (WE BOUGHT WHAT THEY RECOMMENDED), WE'LL BE WITHOUT A DINING ROOM TABLE FOR WEEKS WHILE IT IS STRIPPED & REFINISHED, AND THEY REALLY DON'T CARE. I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND THEM TO ANYONE.

I CALLED THE OWNER TO COMPLAIN, AND THE CREW HE SENT OUT ON FRIDAY WAS EARLY, VERY EFFICIENT AND DIDNT BREAK ANYTHING. THE FIRST DAY WAS DEPRESSING, AND THE SECOND DAY WAS IMPRESSING. I WOULD HIRE THEM AGAIN.
