They did an excellent presentation. But this needs a little explaining first. We had the system inspected by another company, but at the end of the inspection the service man came down and showed use pictures on his phone saying that our heat exchanger was cracked and it was emitting carbon dioxide into the house. My wife's first question was that how do we know that is our heat exchanger. And then the second thing was that he said he would check if we had any carbon dioxide leaking into the house, and he did, and there wasn't any. When they estimated the system, it was $13 000. So when the lady showed up I said your service man showed us some pictures off his cell phone, but he did not verify with us. He just provided the pictures and that's it. Now when I did stick my head up there to take a look, he did have the part out on the floor and he was doing his job, disassembling it and putting it back together just as I've asked. So the technical part of that service was an A+. What I didn't know at that time was that the service provider also gets a commission on any units that they install. That explains a little bit of what was taking place. Now the service man from Tyson came out and he was a total dud! He had a check list, but he didn't do half the stuff that was on it and I've asked him to check the heating and the air conditioning and all he checked was the air conditioning. He hardly even looked at the heating, which was a waste of time. The total price that they had quoted was between $10 000 and $11 000. He didn't go high, because between what we found and what we knew already, was that we had a bad installation by the builder. He violated all the code and I don't think this was even inspected by a heating inspector. I think it was just signed off. Instead of sealing all the connections, it was just duct taped. The unit was too small for its size; it was two and a half ton. They downsized the pipe, incoming and outgoing air, with 14" when it required 16" per code. They didn't use pressure versus volume, which means that the more volume you have when you step it down, it increases pressure. So that is why they stepped down the pipe in the heating system to go further to the back of the house, and they never did that. The whole pipe was all the same length in our house when we moved in here. So the whole thing did not function correctly and we had cold spots in the house. That was one of the reasons why I called for the inspection. The other problem was that when they installed the gas lines, the gas lines were exposed, they put flex into the heating unit when they were supposed to have cast iron pipe, so that was a code violation. The responsiveness from Tyson was poor. Initially they showed up for the inspection. Then when I called for an estimate they showed up and did a wonderful job checking the house out and checking for heat leaks and everything around the house. They were the only company who did that. From all three of them, they were the only one. So they were operating the closest code that I know of from all three companies. When I called the office, sometimes I couldn't get anybody in the office and that to me is critical, because if we have to get hold of somebody because we've had a problem, or we need to get some services, and we can't get anybody, then why even bother? I would consider using them and here is why: they went out of their way to help us with the home warranty. Because we had parts that were failing and I told home warranty who wanted to send someone out to do odd jobs. They have their own companies they send out and they do a patch, and even though it's not right, they still patch it and walk away. Here is the twist. You have to pay for the people to show up. I said no I don't want anybody to come out, because I already had these three companies, you can pick between the three, and access the information. The home warranty company contacted Tyson. Tyson had all the information and they made additional effort to come out and validate their findings from the first time they were here.

I made the appointment through the form on their website. I received a very fast response. On the day of service, the tech called to let me know when he would be here and arrived on time. He was very friendly and efficient. He explained the performance of my system and discussed replacement options with me since our system is getting quite old. Very impressed overall! Great experience!
Description of Work: I bought a big deal coupon for a 25 point inspection and cleaning of my AC system. I also asked for a quote on a new system while the tech was here.

They said that my air conditioner was dead in the water and that I need to replace it for about $8000. I know it was twenty years old, but I asked them if there was any way that they could make it go through the summer. They said no that it was pretty much dead and that they can't even put anymore Freon in it and that it won't take it. I said okay. I got a second opinion, and although it needed to be replaced about six months later, they were able to put it in. Tyson Services Inc said it would be about $1400 to put Freon in it, so it was not really worth it. I had someone come out and put Freon in it for $120. It made it through October. I spent $6000 and I got a dual system which is up and downstairs. So I got twice as good a system. It got through the summer, which I needed it to do, because I just bought the house, so I needed it to last. I was in the process of buying, so I didn’t want it to go bad because it was from a friend of mine. I didn’t want them to have to pay for it, so I was just trying to get it through the year, which I did. I have other rental properties; the other gentleman got two systems out of me in one year, because he educated me and would help me out. Tyson Services Inc was just trying to sell me something fast. They wouldn’t even do the tune-up and check, because they said that it was not worth it. They came out in a timely manner. I would never use them again.
Description of Work: I purchased a big deal for Tyson Services Inc for a spring and summer 25-point tune-up, clean and check for heating and air conditioning.

I am sorry that you feel that way about our company. We were not aware that you were unhappy with our services or we would have looked into the issues that you were having. I looked over your information and found that while we were at your home we did install a ceiling saver. Also we installed a new drain line, clean out trap and repaired some duct work at your home. Looks like we were there about 3.5 hours that day doing the repairs. Again, we are truly sorry that you feel that you have had a bad experience with our company. If we would have been made aware that you had issues with ANYTHING that we did, we would have made it right. We stand behind all of our work. Sorry again that you feel the way that you do. If there is anything that I can help you with in this matter, I would be more than happy to look into things for you. Thank You, Tammy Tyson

Discovered Tyson Services during a previous home warranty issue. Dale responded to fix a warranty issue and during his work he discovered a significant safety issue with the operational unit which had been worked on by another service company. When the central air unit finally gave out (16 year old system), the first company I called was Tyson Services because of our past experience and the quality of work they performed. I did a lot of research on company's and equipment, received several estimates from other companies, but none compared to Tyson Services professionalism, responsiveness, and dedication to doing the job right the first time. Dale and Tammy answered all my questions before and after installation, provided web links and information to assist my decision. I had both central heating and air units replaced and am extremely pleased with the equipment and quality of work performed. After much research, the quality of the equipment is important but not as important as the contractor who installs it.

Perry was on time and personable. He completed service check up, then it was "good news or really bad news". He proceeded to tell us system #1 was fine then showed us pics he took of our frozen coil on system #2 and tell us that we needed to replace system because repair was not recommended. Said someone would contact us by end of week with options for coil replacement or system replacement, potentially 4-6k.Never heard from the company again, this apparently was for the best. Called another company for repair, they came out same day, found loose caps on valves (causing leak), found out that the coil was still under warranty with Carrier, if future problem, and recharged system. $238. I have had Arctic Air for 2 weeks now and no frozen coil. Would definitely recommend second opinion, if major work is proposed.
