Patrick worked me into his schedule and around the rain and came out Monday, November 18. He did the new survey, staked out the corners of my lot, and showed me the rebar markers which were buried 3 or 4 inches deep. He staked along the property lines and staked out the area where I could properly locate my shed. He patiently explained what I needed to know. He told me he had a few more surveys to do outside. He emailed me a pdf of my new survey after 5 pm November 26, the day before Thanksgiving. I received several large copies of my new accurate Survey #3 in the mail a few days later. I now have an updated permit (no extra charge) & my shed will be moved into the correct spot tomorrow!
Description of Work: In October 2014 I ordered and received a nice 8 by 12 foot utility shed. I got an accessory building permit from Indian Trail the day before, which indicated that the shed must be located outside of a 15 foot storm drainage easement shown on my property. My survey (Survey #2) indicated that all 15 feet were in my yard. A day or so after the shed was delivered, I found the old survey received by the original owner (Survey #1) which showed only half of the easement in my backyard. Since I didn't get to put the shed where I really wanted to, because of the easement, I called Patrick McMurray of McMurray Land Surveying on Nov. 13, 2014 to perform a new survey (Survey #3) as well as locate the corners of my property..

I cannot say enough great things about Patrick and his crew. We found ourselves in a pinch after a neighbor decided to dispute the property line just before work was to begin on a detached garage - Patrick and his crew took my call, super professional, promised to come out the next day and do one property line to help settle the dispute. They arrive exactly when they said - and it was essentially out of his schedule I might add. They set up, explained everything they were doing and how and provided not only the property line set for the area in question, but validated my building corners were properly in the setbacks. My property is 4 acres - it's wooded and tough terrain - they didn't flinch. Excellent service, great personable and professional people - will certainly be recommending them and using them again Bill Haenlin

I called Pat and immediately he was able to schedule a time to come out and survey my residential property lines within the same week. He along with another worker did a thorough job in surveying the property. We actually discovered that both of my neighbors' fences were on my property! One was about 4 - 5 feet on my land and the other about half a foot. Both of these fences were built about 7 years prior to my purchase of my current property, so there was probably no land survey done when constructed. The price I paid did not include maps, but I think it sufficed for my purposes of constructing a new, accurate fence. If you are building a fence or physical barrier of any type around your property, please give these guys a call! They will do you right! It's worth every penny.

My husband and I needed to have a survey performed on a parcel of land we owned in order to provide a copy to the couple purchasing the land from us. After a search on Angie's List I found McMurray's and contacted him about getting a quote. His quote was very reasonable and we scheduled a time for him to do the survey. Less than a week later the survey was done, stakes in place, with four stamped paper copies made available to me by mail. Patrick was a pleasure to work with and should I ever need surveying work done in the future I will definitely be contacting him!

I bought this property as a foreclosure and was not provided a plat diagram. Patrick provided precisely what I needed. He surveyed the property and pointed out all the significant points and flagged these for my convenience. He was very thorough in calibrating his instruments and reconfirming all the reference points. He showed me how he was able to locate a point to within 6/1000th of a foot and then confirm this using alternative reference points and alternative calculations. After locating all the significant points, Patrick developed a scale diagram appropriately labeled. Patrick enjoys his work and was glad to explain his equipment and methods as he precisely marked and recorded all the significant points. I would certainly use him again and would recommend him to anyone who might need a land survey.
Description of Work: Patrick located my existing lot corner markers, flagged them, located an unmarked corner, located the house and concrete areas, then drew up a plat diagram showing the survey points and dimensions.

I called Patrick and explained my requirements; we didn't need a full survey, just clarification of boundary lines. He seemed very knowledgeable and professional, and was able to go out the next day, as we were on a tight time constraint. We were very happy with him, it was money well spent!

We contacted Mr. McMurray on a Tuesday about surveying our property. We needed the survey done quickly as we were having an invisible fence installed and the houses near us were undergoing renovation. Mr. McMurray was occupied all day with other jobs, but agreed to come after his workday. He arrived after 5pm when his scheduled jobs were complete and agreed to perform the work despite the late hour. He was accurate, patient and very professional. He encouraged us to walk the property with him and he advised us about the details of the fence we planned to have installed as it pertained to our property layout and features. He was courteous and patient and showed us everything we needed to know to ensure we get the best outcome when our invisible fence was installed. He charged us a reasonable price despite having to rush over to our house.

Fantastic! He spent more time than he estimated and did not charge more. Patrick?s business is about 30 miles away from my home however the price was the best I could find. When he told me the corner stake was off by .002 inches, I new I had the right person. His transit followed a prism pole he carried that told him exactly where the line was. The builder adjacent to me was going to clear the lot from line to line, and told me he would leave no trees and no buffer, not concerned about my line at all. My conversation got his attention and he had a surveyor out the next day. I told him I would survey regardless. Patrick?s unit placed the point for my stake exactly on top of the other surveyor, the builder did not tell me he would survey it at all, the other crew had three people and were yelling "can you see me". It went as good as you could ask for, a friendly professional man I would trust to go to my home when I was not there. I worked in surveying at one point in my life long ago prior to such sophisticated equipment. His transit automatically turned 360 degrees and followed a prism pole he placed over the line where the pole guided him to. It was amazing to see. It went as good as you could ask for, a friendly professional man I would trust to go to my home when I was not there. Sorry, I run Internet Explorer 11 and it had a little difficulty - you need to go to tools, and turn on compatability view for this site and it works fine after that.
Description of Work: I called Patrick McMurray , 318 E. Old Hwy. 74, Monroe, NC 28112 , on September 10th, 2013 regarding marking 12 of 4 boundary lines on my previously surveyed and corner staked 1.5 acre residential lot. He asked about the line distance and the topography changes and estimated $400 to set stakes close enough for a fence to be accurately placed. I indicated that the trees were one third open and 2/3 dense 15 year old pine thicket. He would have come in two days however I could not be ther until Wed. Sept 18th in the morning. He l call thirty minutes in advance and showed up with a brand new state of the art centimeter grade GPS unit and set up in about 20 minutes. .

Mr. McMurray showed up right on time. Knew his business. Very friendly and didn't mind me watching and occationally asking a question. Even did the work in a light rain. Had modern high tech equipment that once the base parameters were set in took only minutes to establish all the specific points I needed. Found the old irons that confirmed he knew his job. Planning on re-building a retaining wall. The survey confirmed that I had about 3 extra feet to play with for the wall. Has coupon on Angie's List, use it, I forgot.

I have had a difficult time with surveyors in the past. From no-shows to crummy work. I found Mr. McMurray on Angies List and called him.I told him I needed 2 lots surveyed and staked, but, I also needed stakes put into the ground every 25 feet for both lots. As their was a total of 2 acres, this was a considerable amount of work. Mr. McMurray came out within 48 hours of our first email. He completed the job in one day, and I received the surveys in under a week. I went throughout the property and visually inspected what he had done. He did an amazing job!

Patrick McMurray is a wonderful person! Back in the early part of March, I contact him about getting a survey for a new purchase. He contacted me back very quickly with a very fair price. Due to a few hiccups in our due diligence process, I was setting appointments and canceling them left and right. Patrick was very patient and understood completely the ups and downs of the home buying process. If you are going to have a survey, Patrick McMurray is the person to take care of it. Plus he is a veteran and it was an honor to have him survey our new home.

They were very detailed so there was some questions. Apparently, we actually have two markers in one corner of our property. So, they went in and they confirmed that the markers on the neighbor's property were where they were supposed to be so that they could triangulate and figure out which of the markers was the actual correct one. He called me back promptly, they were able to fit me in within a short period of time. They showed up when they said they would. I think the price was fair and they gave me an Angie's list discount. They made sure I understood. They really took the time to make sure that everything was done properly, even though it wound up taking them longer than I think they had planned. If we decided to do a full property survey, we would definitely use them again.
Description of Work: We used the services of McMurray Land Surveying. The confirmed the property markers and they actually put stakes down alongside the corner of the property. We are putting in a new carport and they are zoning restrictions with how far away it had to be from the property line so we needed to have the property line marked so we could measure to make sure we were going to be in compliance.
