They were very careful. They wrapped everything so they wouldn't damage any of our belongings. Citywide is very careful. They had to move some really heavy furniture and did a great job. They did not damage any of our belongings. I would sincerely recommend their service.

Great! They were very friendly and helpful and came up with some ideas for us to handle this situation. Everything had to be inventoried prior to going into storage. We also had them pack all of our artwork and the movers had to separate our stuff, with some items going into one storage unit, and some into a second, depending on whether it was to be moved in the first Or second move out. Our stuff was stored for a few months, and when the owner had to do a move to Washington, we decided to go ahead and move all our stuff out together. I'm sure it was a bit of a pain, because once in Washington, our stuff had to stored again, which meant that the owner had to hang around while the new storage company made their inventory list. Not a single thing broke in the move, and everything arrived safely. They were a joy to work with.
Description of Work: We had a complicated move, because we were planning on storing our furniture and then moving half to Washington state, storing half, and then moving the remaining furniture out at another time.

The move went super smooth. The estimate was slightly higher than the actual cost - nice surprise there. Joel was great when he gave us the estimate. He made some fantastic packing suggestions. David made sure the move went smooth. They even held off delivery for one day to let a tropical storm pass. Professionals all around. We hired them because of their advertised expertise in moving antiques. Glad we did, they all showed up in great condition. We'd use them again. Everyone of the move team was focused on making the experience smooth for us - we truly appreciated that.

Moving is a tough business and I do have empathy for the movers - But I was just not satisfied in the end and feel a little bit cheated. 1st - Mislead on cost - I was told it was a straight hourly fee, and no other fees, but you get charged double for drive time. Which is fine if told up front. 2nd - Scraped up the front of our washer. I had them wrap it while loading to protect it, but they didn't wrap unloading. Seemed like they didn't wrap anything to protect when unloading. 3rd - Missing brackets on shelves, a piece of a shelf is gone, and did not re-assemble an armoire. 4th - I feel they may have light loaded the trucks, so they could come back and move the rest later. I still have quite a few items remaining to move. 5th - Left the 1st location with out checking or asking if anything else needed to be done. It was strange how they just left with out notice.

We regret that you were not satisfied with your move. I would like to address your concerns. 1st-Our local moves are charged strictly by the hour. Your time starts when our movers arrive at your house and your time stops after all items are unloaded and place at your new destination address. You are charged for the amount of time it takes to get to your new address because your items are on our truck and this is still part of your move. Once your move is completed, a one hour travel is added to your total cost. This is explained to all of our customers when they call and book their moves. 2nd & 3rd- All furniture is padded/wrapped before it is loaded onto our trucks. This can be done either in the house or after it is brought outside to be loaded. When the items are unloaded at your destination address, the pads will be taken off as they come off the truck or in your house. Please be advised if there are any damages or missing items during your move, we would not know this unless you contacted our office. We perform quality control checks after each move. When you were contacted, you informed us that the move was okay and you were missing a bar. After we ask our movers, we let you know that the bar was put in a drawer. You have not contacted us about any other missing items or damages. 4th & 5th- When you originally booked your move with us, we were told you wanted us to move all of the heavy furniture only. This is what our movers expect to do when they arrive. They will be glad to take other items as long as they are packed and ready to be moved. This being said, your wife informed our movers of what she wanted them to take before she left to meet you at your destination address for an appointment with a TV technician. Although you have indicated you would not use our services again, we do want to thank you for recognizing the hard work of our movers by giving them a generous tip.

Honestly thought most movers would not even an opening that week let alone in next few days (holiday weekend.) Rhonda listened to my predicament, put me on hold to see what they could do, came back & by the grace of God had had a cancelation for the following day! She went through all pricing with me which was about average to previous quotes from other companies- only difference was their travel fee from Monroe to Gastonia of $290 (which is understandable but other companies didn't charge. I was not in a position to haggle- I did have 2 stops, but both not even 5 miles.) Nevertheless, 3 men came with the greatest attitudes, & were not the least bit intimidated by anything (boxes, furniture marked storage or house, enormous amount of clothes, bags, etc.!) I was exhausted, nervous after awful situation with Best Movers US, Inc., & stressed out of my mind, yet they remained positive & motivated! They understood I was on a budget, and worked hard to stay within it- ended up going over so tip was not as much as they deserved! Only wish I could've been at house to reinforce what went where at house- (was informed at this 1st stop/house they needed ALL cash-even if overage, so I had to leave for the bank while they unloaded. Embarrassed to admit but think this was because foreclosure move & assume check or credit not good enough? As a result many things ended up upstairs that were marked for downstairs, and the reverse. My big TV remains in garage that I specifically asked be taken upstairs & washers switched out were 2 BIG needs forgotten while I was at the bank. Again I'm partially diabled, unable to lift, and sadly ALL are exactly still where they left them! They were done & ready to go to storage by time I returned! Hindsight- I knew I told them-should've been here-they were trying to hurry...moving madness & regrets!
Description of Work: Last minute move-had asked Best Movers US, Inc. to leave 2 days before they were so rude & changed charges at the last minute! Called Citywide (spoke with Rhonda,) explained my situation that I needed to be out of my home as soon as possible, had just fired Best Movers, had 98% packed (partially disabled,) most going to storage, & remainder to another home.

We appreciate you giving us a great rating. I do however regret that you misunderstood our payment policy. We accept cash, certified checks and all major credit cards. When we call our customers to confirm their move, we ask what form of payment you will be using. If the payment is by credit card, we will take that information then and authorize your card for the estimated amount due. At that time your Bill of Lading is stamp payment by credit card. If you choose to pay by any other method, your Bill of Lading is then stamped with Cash, Certified Check or Money Order. A lot of the time a shipper will decide to use their credit card after the movers arrive. If this happens, the movers will call the office and we will get the credit card information on the day of the move. If not, the movers are informed to let the shipper know the estimated amount of the move so they will have payment once the move is completed. Be assured the cash payment was not expected for any reason other than you did not provide your credit card information to us for payment. We were not aware that things did not get put in their proper places until I read this review. We immediately started calling you and left several messages. You have not returned any of our calls. Please contact our office if you would like for us to come and move your items in their proper places at no charge.

Rhonda was such a pleasant person. She really tried her best to make it work, but in the end our schedule and their availability worked against each other and we were not able to use Citywide. I would recommend trying this company first to see if they can meet your moving needs.

Citywide movers were head and shoulders above other movers we have used. Kathie, in the office was very helpful in scheduling our moves and understanding when we had to reschedule due to builder delays. The crew in both moves was very hardworking, professional and respectful. I had one piece of furniture damaged in the move. Citywide had procedures in place to log a claim and sent someone to fix it within a week. They were extremely helpful and went above and beyond in customer service. They understand that moving is very stressful and made me feel at ease. They did an excellent job in all aspects of the move and I have already referred them to my real estate agent. I would use them again without question!

They damaged furniture. They came to fix it, but did so inadequately. They damaged appliances and denied responsibility. The entire time one workers was constantly talking about tipping him, which I felt was completely unprofessional. When they came to fix the furniture, the man kept touching me, so much so that I had to move to the other side of the room away from him. I used another moving company, United Van Lines, to move from Pittsburgh to South Carolina, 500 miles, before this with the same appliances and furniture and had no issues. They were professional, where these people were a nightmare.

Good job overall. Some damage to former home (minor) that was not discovered until the buyers closed (well after closing). Claim submitted, no response. Team was very good and hard working. Did not love that they smoked in the truck with all of our stuff loaded.

Everything went great! We booked them for the move about a month ahead of time, they came out and gave us multiple estimates for full packing, partial packing and just moving everything. In the end we decided to pack ourselves and just have them move everything. They let us borrow all of the boxes we could possibly need, including wardrobe boxes, which was great because we needed a ton of them. The guys showed up right when we were told they would. We went over the details of the move and answered questions here and there about the moving of items. They were very professional and made sure that nothing got damaged with all of the equipment necessary like floor runners to protect the hardwood floors and padding for the furniture. At our new house, the washer and dryer needed to be stacked and they even helped us do that after I made a quick trip to buy the stacking kit! It was by far the best experience we have had moving and we will definitely use them in them in the future.

I've used 4 different movers over the last 3 years. 2 were disasters, one was ok, and Citywide was THE BEST. Friendly and professional. Very quick to reimburse when something got broken. There were 4 movers and 3 were incredibly hard=working and the 4th was not a good worker. I was as frustrated with #4 as were the other 3 movers :-) Would definitely recommend.

Moved went well. Everyone showed up on time with trucks. The crew chief was receptive to our requests and limitation. We were told that it would take 8 hours to make the move with 2 trucks (it tool 13+) hours - this was not an issue since we were local. Crew followed directions but had to be reminded several times about where to move items, even though we had marked and labeled boxes, they still ended up in the wrong rooms. Several items were broken or damaged. And to their credit they efficiently took care of it. Some other minor issues on walls and floors but besides that we were relieved that it went well. At the end of the day - we did not loose anything. The crew was a fun and loud bunch and worked hard. I will use them again and have since recommended them to others.

In Orlando, we utilized a moving company we had used three times prior. Unfortunately, this last experience was less than stellar. Citywide, however, was AMAZING. Their 3-man crew was caring, courteous, quick, and experienced. I cannot say enough about the experience. Moving is stressful. From our initial phone call to Citywide to the time they pulled out of our driveway, the experience was as good as it gets. I cannot say enough good things about our "crew" and experience. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Citywide. They treated our belongings with care and placed them where I requested. And I am happy to report that not a single item was broken -- not one! They couldn't have made a stressful situation more enjoyable! Thank you, Citywide!!!!

From the first contact with Joel Presley, follow-up calls from the office, to the actual move with the crew of 3 guys, everything went exceptionally well. My preferred date was easily accommodated, as was my request to deliver furniture to 2 locations. All of my fears about moving were laid to rest. The crew arrived on time and introduced themselves. I was elated to know they were experienced, courteous, and eager to do whatever I needed. We took a tour of the 2-story house, porch, and garage so they knew where things were and what items went to each location. They reassured me that they could, and would handle my antique furniture with special treatment, and they did. Furniture was wrapped, and the cabinet with glass sides and doors was specially wrapped and handled with care. The guys worked together and efficiently. The unloading and placement of the furniture at the new 1-story home went very well. This experience was indeed a good one! I absolutely would use them again, and have recommended them to friends who are planning a move. Thank you, Citywide!

I can't say enough good things about my experience with Citywide. Moving is stressful enough, but the crew that I got on our move day was top notch. Several of them told me they had many years of experience - and it showed. I was very nervous because we had just put down new carpet and the entire house was freshly painted, but they were very skilled with how they moved everything around. They also put down runners so that the flooring was protected. Not one thing was broken, damaged, or lost. They also moved at a good pace, they didn't drag it out to keep the clock going. They were also very good about making sure to put all our boxes in their proper rooms, they also grabbed all the small stuff (vacuum cleaner, hoses, random stuff) that didn't fit in boxes and were just a pain to have to stuff into a car. I was so happy that I almost cried at the end, haha, that is how happy they made me. Citywide even called the next day to make sure everything went ok. I would highly recommend them to anyone who is looking for a good mover.

I looked on Angie's list recently for recommended movers and found Citywide, I then remembered I had used them many years earlier and was pleased. I made the reservation about 2 weeks ahead of our moving date and was nervous I waited too long since so many homes have sold lately; however, it was not a problem for them ( I even switched dates about a week before). The day of moving they called and said they would be 20 minutes late and was fine with me, it gave me extra time to box belongings. They wrapped the furniture we had not covered and even moved a heavy safe! They were like worker bees!

Day 1: Moving day went pretty good other than the guys not following instructions on how to get the box springs around the curve in the steps. My wall got scraped up pretty bad and the wood on the trim got notched. They were trying to force it , banking the wall, until I came in the room and told them to stop and reminded them the only way it would go down. Took an hour out of our packing to go to Lowe's to get the materials to fix the wall and get it painted. The new owners were doing a walk through a couple of hours later Day 2: Delivery Day did not go as planned. We rushed home from closing to be there when the movers arrived. They weren't there at the designated time (12 noon). 1 1/2 hours later, I get a call from the driver wanting to know if I was ready for my stuff. I said yes and we were waiting. He stated that they had a little trouble at the weigh station and were about to get on the road again, he said they would be there real soon, that they were sending another truck to off load to and then they would be at my house. 3:00, no truck, no word. Around 3:30, I called the office and talked to Kathryn. She wasn't aware of any problem and had me hold on while she contacted the operations manager. She came back to the phone and said the truck had broke down at the weigh station and the mechanic was on his way. I waited about another hour and a half to two hours and get a call from the operations manager. He said they were still working on the truck and wanted to know if I would rather wait until the next day (which I was due to return to work) or have it delivered later that day. I told him I had to be back at work and needed my stuff that day. I received a call back from the Operations Manager to say that the officials at the weigh station were being difficult and were being picky. He said that even if there was evidence of an old leak they were going to pull the truck off the road. He also reminded me he saved me money by loading everything on one truck when it should have been 2. Implying that the truck was overloaded. He informed me that they would not be able to deliver my stuff until the following day. That he would send extra men to unload at no charge. My husband and I rode to the weigh station, but it was closed. There sat my truck out of the way next to the woods with just a small padlock on it. I called the weigh station the next morning to be told that the only reason the truck was pulled off the road was because neither drive had a drivers licenses. Really??? The Officer told me that there was nothing at all wrong with the truck, that if the company had sent someone down with a drivers license, they could move the truck. All day we waited and couldn't get nothing else done because we didn't know when we were going to get the truck. Had to take an additional day off from work to be there the next day for Citywide to deliver our stuff. We had to take the beds apart and reassemble them because they weren't put together correctly and loosely. Citywide didn't charge me the $200.00 overnight storage fee or for the 3 extra men a day late. But it won't make up for the extra time we took off of work. My husband had to take back one of his vacation days from our Anniversary trip to make up for the extra moving day. They did send me two thank you cards with a sticker on the back asking me not to forget to leave a review on Angie's List.
Description of Work: They picked up our furniture and boxes for our move. They picked up on 9/14/2015, stored our belongings on their sight that night for delivery on 9/15/15 after we closed on our new house.

We regret that your move was not completed in a timely manner. Unfortunately things do happen that we have no control over. As you can see, I respond to all of my reviews. Although my responses are normally a few sentences, I felt that this review needed an explanation of our side of the situation. I apologize that at first you were incorrectly informed as to the reason for the delay of our truck, however, the owner of the company did call you the very same day and explained the entire situation and how we would have to resolve it. Our truck was held at the weight station because my driver’s record showed that he had a temporary suspension because of a non-paid ticket. Although, the ticket had been paid, it had not been cleared on his record. The driver had to prove he had taken care of this. Once this was done, the suspension was lifted. We all make mistakes and obviously the DMV does as well. Rest assure, if we had been aware of this, the driver would have never been dispatched. We have 10 or more drivers dispatched on a daily basis. Your items were loaded onto a moving truck that required a driver that holds a commercial driver’s license (CDL). At the time of this incident we had no CDL drivers available to send out to drive this truck to your destination. Therefore, we had to wait until the next day to finish your move. We do not plan for things like this to happen but when they do, we try very hard to make sure we take care of our customers. We deducted $200.00 from your move and sent out 2 additional movers at no charge to help unload your household goods. It took less time to unload your truck with an additional savings of approximately $400.00. Although we cannot satisfy all of our customers, we try our very best. We appreciate all of our customers and we let them know that by sending a “Thank You” card for their business. We are a member of Angie’s List, so each envelope is sealed with a stamp that encourages all customers to write a review on our company. We do not pick and choose who we send a card too, we want comments from all of our customers; the positive as well as the negative.

I would recommend this moving company to anyone? Not only were they punctual and well mannered, friendly and fun they did not scratch one piece of my furniture or the walls. Could not ask for more than that! Oh yes,,,,they worked quickly too! it took less time than I had projected?A+
