This was the only one of three similar businesses which seemed interested in giving an estimate based on actually inspecting our attic. It was also the least expensive -- the other two gave ballpark estimates, based on our description of what was in place and the approximate square footage. This business, which in fairness was closest of the three, sent out a team to provide an estimate. They went up into the attic, measured, and assessed the level of insulation in place. They took their information back to the office and the next morning emailed a proposal. After we accepted the proposal, a date was set for the job. The two-man crew was here shortly after the scheduled time. They prepared the attic by putting baffles around the whole house fan and the small entry space in the floor to shield them from the blowing insulation, and they installed measuring rods to indicate the level of insulation. Then they blew in the insulation, taking something over an additional hour to complete the job. Once done, they invited me to climb the ladder and inspect what they had done -- it was all up to level. I called the office to coordinate payment and gave the crew a check for the proposed amount. They later emailed a receipt to us.
