OUT ON A LIMB

I was impressed with his work. By 11:00am the job was complete, not a branch left behind nor was their any damage to the existing landscaping.

They arrived on schedule ready to go. A crew of five men finished the job within an hour and fifteen minutes including clean up. I was very pleased.

They were very nice. They had a quick response to my phone call. They came right out and gave a free estimate. They came back quickly and took care of the job, worked in our schedule. I thought their pricing was very fair. I would recommend them and use this company again.

We did get other quotes, but this company was a little less than the others, and always returned your calls promptly. The work was done quicker than we had thought, and cleanup was very good.

Job was done as explained and was prompt, quick, professional, neat. We're very pleased.

Called company and asked if they could come by our home and give us an estimate over the phone because it is difficult for us to get off work. They called with an estimate and performed the work within two days. They came by the next day and picked up a check. Wonderful experience.

James did exactly what he said he was going to do, at exactly the price quoted.

They did the job ok, and the pricing was reasonable. They also cleaned up all the mess when they were finished. I would recommend them to anyone who is looking for a tree service.

The Efflers have done work for our us in the past. They always arrive on time, and are able to give an estimate in short order. They recently trimmed several dead limbs from two cherry trees in our front yard, and also pruned a large crepe myrtle which allowed it to bloom better than ever before this past summer.

We last used the services of Out on a Limb 2.5 tears ago and were completely satisfied. I'm going to make some general comments before providing detail on the work done on 9/22 - 9/23/2008. Their equipment for doing the type work we needed is outstanding. The equipment (chipper, stump grinder, chain saw, pruning saws, etc.) is state of the art and well maintained. Their prices are probably too low for the work we expected them to do. They showed up on time and worked hard. The 4 people spent approximately 11 hours each on the job. All items except #4, #5, and # 8 were finished to our complete satisfaction. Our expectations on those three items were likely too high, but let's consider them individually. #4 and #5 suffer from the same issue, so the comments that follow apply to both. Vines, especially honeysuckle, were and are a problem. They simply did not try to remove them from some of the flowerbeds. Where they did remove them, they cut them off with a weed whacker rather than removing the root as we expected. The work was sloppy and incomplete. #8: Rust removal and painting was fine. Re-installation of the heavy iron garden gate was worse than sloppy. It was installed in the wrong place (off from center by about 12" and angled by 45 degrees in the wrong direction). The gate would not lock because the left side was several inches higher than the right. Worst of all, James knew the installation was incorrect and that we were in the house, but he simply left without mentioning the issue. He did not even bother to ask exactly where we wanted it. When I called him later in the day about the gate installation he said it was more difficult than he anticipated and offered a $25 refund (which I declined). Had he knocked on the door during installation, I would have gladly agreed to an increase in price to have it done right. Except for the sloppy installation of the iron gate, the issue (vines in beds and natural areas) can be best understood as expectations not being completely expressed by us, so I have not downgraded for that. The "C" grade on quality would have been an "A" had the gate been installed properly. The most difficult to grade was professionalism, where I settled for a "C". An "A" would have been appropriate except for 2 factors: 1. The fact that he left without talking to me knowing the gate installation was incorrect. 2. I expected a complete walk through with him when the job was complete (he did so before). He did not offer to do so this time.

They are very nice people, it went very well. They were out on time and they did a great job with the work and then the clean up afterwards was great as well.

They were great! Came promptly to give us an estimate and did the work a couple of days later. The dead trees were at least 40 ft. tall & too dry to climb & cut from the top. They tied them off with ropes handled by 2 crew members & cut the trees from the roots in about 3 ft. sections. Both were big jobs on a hot, steamy day. They managed without disturbing anything nearby, including my neighbor's car. Did a lot of other trimming & thinning and ground down a trunk that had annoyed me for five years! Very pleasant folks, professional, and they cleaned up as if they'd never been here. We will definitely call them again.

They have good prices. They are punctual and they do a good job. They are flexible and if they can't do a job, they will recommend us to someone who can.

The crew did a great job - visited the day before to verify the job scope, arrived on time and finished very quickly. They were careful to avoid damaging adjacent trees and buildings, and cleaned the area after removing trees. Overall they were on time, reasonably priced, delivered as promised, and were very courteous.

They arrived on time and began immediately. They were finished within 3 hours including cutting the trees, cleaned the areas and hauled away the debris. Good price and a good job.

Prompt, courteous, professional service on a job no one really wants to have to do. Cost of job in line for the amount of work done. Our backyard is smiling and so are we!

James Effler has done some tree work for us in the past. Once again, his quote was reasonable, he was ready to do the work within a week's time, he showed up when he said he would, he completed the work as agreed and even exceeded my expectations, and he cleans up thoroughly (you can't tell he was splitting wood, or backed a huge truck into my back yard). I appreciate his no-nonsense, straight approach.

The front yard work went well the first day. The shrubs were trimmed and most of the weeds were cut and raked up. The back yard was weeded and the old wood trellis was removed, some old wood was also removed from around the deck. The deck was washed and stained. There were some weeds left under the deck in the back yard and on the hill side that my husband and I removed the next day as well as some general clean up. When the mulch was delivered I was not pleased with the kind of mulch being put down and told Mr. Effler that I did not like the mulch. He became confrontational and condenscending. I did not see the need for this reaction and told him to spread the mulch he brought and not to go get any more of the same kind of mulch. I asked him where he got the mulch and he said from the county dump. He did discount the price of the mulch however; he did not evenly distribute the mulch and left some mulch in several small piles without spreading it out properly.

They showed up on time with all their equipment and started work immediately. This was a tricky job because the tree to be removed was close to my shed and back fence and other smaller trees. Their work was very skillful and a sight to behold. True professionals and very nice people. I was very impressed. They cleaned up after themselves and removed all debris. Finished the job and drove off in 3 hours.

I was selling my house in Charlotte and the new buyers required that several trees be cut down due to the house inspection. Didn't know they included trees in a House inspection. Inspector said they were dead/diseased. He's not an arborist and was *wrong* per the arborist I had give me estimates! Also, he didn't care about the trees that were ON the house! Talked with 4 others from Angie's List and liked all but one (he thought the Elms were Black Gums). However, I based my decision on price. Out on a Limb did the whole job for less than I would have been able to get the Elms alone done. Highly recommend them! They were very responsive and quick to get the work done. Very pleased with the work!!!

The person who answered the phone, called me back with the quote, and scheduled my appointment was very polite and professional. The cost of the tree removal service was reasonable and the company carried out the work on schedule.

Very responsive. He came out on a Sunday to provide an estimate and promised the work would be completed by Friday, which it was. I have already recommended him to one of my friends who needs some trimming.
