chimney repair
+ -1 moreWe had the chimney cleaned and inspected by several reputable companies on Angie's List over the last couple of years. Both recommended extensive repairs ranging from $5000-$7000. Neither seemed interested in doing anything less than the entire project and said we would fail a chimney inspection if we tried to sell the house and the should not use the fireplace. The house is 21 years old and the chimney has been cleaned on a regular basis. We are the original owners and burn no more than 2 fires a week during the winter months. We wanted a third opinion and a friend who is a successful Realtor suggested we call Metrolina. Their estimate for a complete repair was in the $5000 range but he felt that rebuilding the firebox and repairing the crown would make it safe to use as long as we had the chimney cleaned every year. The owner of the company performed the work along with an assistant. He has been in business for a number of years.
Description of Work: Rebuilt back of firebox, re-pointed all grout, sealed exterior crown (very tall) of chimney.
