LOWE'S

I was happy with the design person at the Matthews Lowes store. However, she did not remain my Lowes contact. The bath did not pass inspection. The subcontractor, Reliable, told me it was because they did not get a building permit, which they thought was not needed. On the second (failed) inspection, the inspector told me the permit was only one of the reasons the project failed. The inspector made the subcontractors move the new cast iron tub. Under the tub they had left a big hole around the pipe. They also did not put the proper barrier on the walls surrounding the tub to keep the bathroom insulated. The inspector made them fix the problems and it finally passed. The project got going about the time it was supposed to be finished. -- I am thankful to the Mecklenburg County inspection office for making sure my foundation was done correctly. The tiles on the walls around my tub/shower do not match the tiles on the floor - same family, but not the same color. They told me that happens when the lots are different. So why don't they (Lowes and/or subcontractor) check the lot numbers? There were no spare floor tiles as I had requested. One tile did not sit correctly on the floor and had to be taken out and replaced. I gave them my "sample" floor tile (from my original design meeting), but it did not match the other floor tiles. (It did match the wall tiles.) No one (Lowes or the subcontractor) was doing anything about getting the one tile that matched the floor, so I took the broken tile to the store and went through boxes of tiles to find one to match. Disregarding that the floor and wall tiles don't quite match, the quality of the tile work was good. However, the tile person poured the left-over materials on and behind my shrubs. It also got on my brick house. I had to dig out the hardened stuff. It took the sub-contractor two tries to get it off the house. The tile guy also dropped some of the mixture in my new cast iron tub. I had to call them back to get it out. Before the tile was put in, I changed my mind on how to position a grab bar (from horizontal to diagonal). I discussed it with the worker. He measured, wrote it down, and put in the necessary support. After the tile was put in, the subcontractor sent a different person and he put the grab bar in wrong. I told the subcontractor that one of their guys measured and put in the support. They said it wasn't in their "Project Information Book" and they could not find anyone who remembered anything about changing it. I found the diagram their person had made. It had been written on the back of the Project Book cover. They had to remove wall tiles to change it. The paint that is recommended for bathrooms by Lowes, is not what they were going to use. I made them take it back and use what they recommend. I had to call the subcontractor back to get the window that was painted shut opened, then back again to repaint where the paint got chipped when they opened the window. I had to call them back to put the second coat of paint on the door. I had to call them back to seal the top of the shower with grout, so water could not go behind it. The subcontractor did come back many times and did fix the issues, so the final quality of the project is good. However, as professionals they should have done it right the first time. I went to the Lowes Matthews store because I thought they would manage the project and make sure it was done correctly. I did not realize until I had problems, that after the in-store design meeting and purchase (you pay for everything up front), you work with the Corporate Office, not the local store. if you have problems, you end up dealing with the subcontractor, not Lowes.

We ordered a trim kit for our microwave and oven. Before cabinets went in we needed the trim kit and microwave installed. I ordered it 01/23. When I called 02/25 to check on it they told me they never received it. They said they could order another one, but it could take up to 21 days. I ended up having to find another source which delayed our cabinet install. I paid for a work order to install the wall oven and microwave, knowing the price could change if they had to build a shelf. Again, we needed it installed before cabinets. When they sent the tech out to install the oven, microwave, and trim kit...they only sent someone to install the oven even though it clearly mentioned all of them in the work order. Once again, I had to find someone else to install the microwave. They were aware of the error, but no one ever called me about it. I had a cooktop installed. They originally told me it would be a huge work effort because the venting from the inside to the outside of the house had to be re-installed. They quoted me the price of $800 (took $40 off with Lowes card). i questioned the price, but they assured me that I would have to replace all the venting, and it was a HUGE job. I trusted their estimate. When the tech came out, he said it was not a huge job and that he could make an adaptor piece to adapt to the existing vent system that ran to the outsiede of the house. It did not take him that long to complete the work. When I went back to lowes, they took 159.70 off the price, making the cost 600.30. This is STILL a lot higher than it should be considering I paid the price to run a vent from the inside to the outside of the house. I did not get what I paid for, and they would not give me a fair price for the work performed. I have been happy with other Lowes in the past, but I will never go to this one. I paid over $12,000 at this Lowes before moving the rest of my business other places.

It went extremely well. Obviously, they outsourced the work but it was transparent. They selected some to do it. He was efficient and he did a great work. He was in and out and cleaned up his mess.

We go there all the time. They have a really wide variety of different repair items and it is easy to return things there if need be. You do not get a whole lot of help there but they have a really big selection of stuff that are always needed for all the repairs that we do around here. Their price are good but the quality of their products varies depending on what you are looking at.

It's beautiful; fantastic; amazing. He put in a dishwasher, new oven, and a new built-in microwave. This house is so old and everything is custom, so he had to do things to amke it sit right. It's just magnificent. The guy must be a master carpenter, it's amazing.

l. Pay attention to women when they come into a store. I cancelled the dryer from home depot because it cost more and they did not have a person working in that department, who knew the dryers.

LOWE'S is a good company. They have quality products. More than once I've been there and they've been very helpful, they find what you need and work very hard to make you a happy customer.

The window frames were metal, so there was a lot of labor involved. It was a tricky job. But, they were clean and punctual. They did a great job overall. Lowe's offered good payment options.

The service was excellent and they were very responsive. I don't have any complaints at all. They did the work from August to October, it is inconvenient to live through that, but it was no one's fault. They stuck to their word and did what they said they would do. I had a couple of contacts at Lowe's and at each step, they would call to ask how everything went. Even at the end, they had someone come out to inspect the finished work who found a few things that I didn't even notice and made sure it was fixed. John and Betty, in the kitchen remodel section, were so helpful and just a pleasure to work with.

About the only thing to me Lowe's could do a little bit better is to have a few more salesmen roaming around where they could help the customer. That's about the only thing and of course that goes up and down at different times of the year anyhow to where they got plenty of folks and sometimes they don't have plenty of folks. They are really a pretty good company.

Our overall experience is good and we will use them again in the future.

Absolute HORRIBLE experience - these moron's took our money, came to the house, ripped out our hardwood floors and THEN decided that the floors weren't "level enough" so they walked off the job. If you are considering getting flooring DO NOT USE LOWE'S - OURS is NOT the only story like this. They also wanted us to install MOLDY WOOD - SEE PICTURES !!!! HOLY CRAP! I can't believe the level of unprofessionalism of these people. Three times we were "cut off" while on hold with customer service. Their district manager is an incompetent boob (in my opinion). Waits until after hours to leave messages, if he calls back at all. I had read one nightmare story like ours on Angie's List and figured the person MUST have been exaggerating. Definitely NOT! TRUST ME - DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH LOWES!!!!

Their prices are competitive with other home improvement places, but it depends on what you are looking for.

Estimator was excellent! Installers were excellent. Carpet sales people were slow and did not respond as fast as we'd like. We had to call a few times to get the information they were going to send us.

It worked out very well because their prices were cheaper. I had them do the entire project and will use them again in the future. World Granite was the subcontractor who did my countertops through Lowes. When you buy the entire project through Lowes they pay the sales tax. I will use them again in the future.

I deal with them all the time. I have good remarks about them. They have helped me with everything that I needed to do. Most of them are professional. Not all of them understand what I’m asking for but most of them are very professional. I would use them in the future.

They are trustworthy and try and match competitive prices. They are very nice people and work with you. I liked their services and will use the same in future.

. The quote is for $25000. We had them install windows for us year before last and we got a pretty good price on windows and that is why we went back to them for the bathroom. The design was drawn up and not a design per say. So they may want to make it look like a third party, not like professional design when they are going to do it. The guys were very polite and professional. They had replaced our 19 windows last November for $11000 and they were significantly cheaper than competition. We had to negotiate with them for quite some time and I have some good feedback on this also. We got teller windows with wooden interiors and aluminium coated exteriors. Above and beyond from my point of view is that they came out and installed the product when they said they would do. It was done when it was going to be done. That was what we were expecting and they delivered what we expected. There was one issue though and it was with the rebate on energy efficiency. We asked the guy at LOWE'S if this window qualify for the rebate and he agreed that it qualifies. After we signed the contract and we went home and researched we found that it did not qualify for the rebate. Then we went back to LOWE'S and showed them the paper where it says and they did some researching themselves. They then agreed and gave us the second coating of film for free. That was very satisfying that they did that, at the same time, I was disappointed that they did not have that product knowledge. We needed the windows desperately but we needed it tax free. We have not noticed much change in our utility bill. I would use them in the future.

We were remodeling our bathroom and we bought bathroom fixtures like a shower and replacement knobs from them. We did some price comparison and bought some from Lowe’s and some from another store. We also bought some grout from them. They were friendly. The person who was installing the tiles really liked Lowe’s better for grout as it mixed easily. We have not used their special services. Their displays were clearly marked. I think their customer service has improved. They seem to be more friendly than they used to be to the average customer.
