Kitchen Tune-Up

I contacted KitchenTuneUp/BathTune-Up to get an estimate to remodel my master bathroom and kitchen. Tom Taube came to my home and listened to what I disliked about the current spaces. We discussed ways to make a bigger shower and gain more storage space in the bathroom. In the kitchen, I had dark cabinets I wanted to update but stay affordable. I also wanted to keep my granite countertops. I disliked my "closet" pantry. I received very comprehensive proposals listing out not just what labor was to be performed but also budgeted items for materials so that I would have a full understanding of how much the remodels would actually cost me. I started these remodels right before the pandemic started in March of 2020. And even though there were a few delays caused by the virus, my projects went very smoothly. I was provided an online schedule of activities so that I would know who was coming and what they were doing (when my dumpster would arrive, drywalling, plumbing work, painting, tiling work, etc.). I liked that there was a final walkthrough before final payment was made so that I could address any issues I saw after the work had been completed. I love my new bathroom and kitchen now (after 20 years of hating them). I find that the bathroom is part of my sanctuary to relax and renew myself. My kitchen is now updated and beautiful with exceptional storage. I no longer have to store appliances and dishes in my bedroom closets. Bathroom: $37,000 (new shower, freestanding tub with tub filler, new vanity with new countertop, fixtures and sinks, new toilet, new cabinet over toilet); Kitchen $30,000 (cabinet redoor with box painting and new cabinets along with a custom island to house a drawer microwave). I was so impressed with the company, its employees and craftmanship, after being offered a position with them in 2021 as a sales rep for bathrooms, I am a happy employee now creating happy customers.

I was in need of a master bathroom overhaul. They gave me an estimate that broke down all of the work that would be required so I knew what where my money was going. Susan, the designer, helped to plan out the space. She worked with me in designing the vanities, picking tile, fixtures, and flooring. She worked with me one on one and was only a call/text away if I needed anything. They were able to work around my summer schedule(I am teacher and needed work done over the summer). All of the workers that came into my house were professional and let me know what work was being done and if anything needed to be changed. I am so thrilled with how my bathroom turned out. It is a wonderful space that I love walking into every day. I would highly recommend Bath Tune up for your bathroom needs.

It is beautiful-like a Spa!. We postponed our project by a month due to COVID. They had no problem with that. We were very comfortable with them in our home. We will be using them again in the future for some major projects.

We have a large kitchen which allowed us to add cabinets and build an island. Our project included electrical work, plumbing work, dry wall work and tile work. Kitchen Tune-up coordinated the work and we are very pleased with the final outcome. Our house is about 43 years old and the kitchen had an uneven floor. The cabinet installation crew had to deal with the existing floor and did a great job in compensating for this problem. We will recommend Kitchen Tune-up to our friends and neighbors.

I couldn't be happier with my kitchen face lift. There was no mess and the work was completed quickly. Any issues, which were limited to minor adjustments, were taken care of quickly. I'm a firm believer that nowadays with all the means of communication (text, voice, email, etc.) there is NO EXCUSE not to respond to a customer. There is always a response, even if it's no I can't do the job. This is just common, basic courtesy. My Wife and I are embarking on a major kitchen renovation and seeking estimates. We scheduled an appointment for a project evaluation which went smoothly. On September 18, Bob came to the house, was very personable and represented the company's services very well. We already have a full design and plans, so we've invested some time and effort and are absolutely ready to decide on hiring a contractor, so it's "not our first rodeo". On September 24, I sent a digital copy of our design and plans and it was acknowledged as being received. That was over a month ago and we have not heard anything back. If the relationship starts out like this what will it be like when I have money invested. Glad to have Angie's List and bring this awareness to others.

After trying to coordinated multiple contractors coming into my house I got very frustrated and called Tom at Kitchen Tune Up. He had remodeled a kitchen for me about 15 years ago and I knew his company could get the work done quickly and easily. They were able to fix what needed to fix while cleaning and making my cabinets look like brand new. When there was a problem with an appliance installation Tom knew exactly who to call to get the problem solved.

Everything went great! Tom was quick to come out and quote the job. He sent the quote promptly, revised it at my request when I changed my mind about some details. The carpenters and the painter arrived at the expected times, did excellent work, and left my home spotless upon completion of the work. In short, I couldn’t be any happier with the job and I would hire Kitchen Tune Up again without hesitation.

Wonderful! 2 men came out and looked at my situation. They explained how they would replace the inside of the cabinet. They would also make the space water resistant. The cost to do the cabinet was only $400. Fair price. We decided to also upgrade the countertops, the sink and faucet. Rev Johnson sent me pics of the granite countertops within my price range. He set the appointment for me to choose my granite. I was in and out within 15 minutes. Rev communicated with me and my husband and made this entire process a pleasure. I would highly recommend this company and Rev Johnson.

Tom Taube and his crew of highly skilled workmen at Kitchen Tune-Up in Charlotte, created a fantastic new master bathroom in our home. They worked with us to keep the project within a budget we could handle and never talked down to us or made us feel like we should spend more. Tom and the crew listened to our questions, made adjustments as we went along and produced a spa-like bathroom that yields oohs and awws from all who see it. Would highly recommend this team!

This was a long process because the sink I ordered was cracked when we received it -- three times. This was not at all the fault of Kitchen Tune up. But -- meant they had to rearrange scheduling. We now have a lovely new kitchen. Tom Taube is a great problem solver -- even when the matter has nothing to do with the project! Plus, he helped us overcome questions problems with the materials we chose. Debi Taube is a marvel at scheduling and really minimizes down time. Her scheduling was put to the test with our sink reorders. These are good people and good to work with. Always return calls!!

Let me me start with the good. Their sales guy, Bob, was very nice, accommodating and seemed to know his stuff. We did have a little false start with our first meeting as he wound up running behind and we had to reschedule. Additionally, the majority of the job looked pretty good... A few things here and there that I am just picky about since I was paying over $11,000 for the work. Also, their guys that came and did all the sanding, priming and painting were very nice and worked their butts off. Now the bad news... This job took a YEAR to fully complete... wait, it actually still wasn't done correctly in the end. There were many mis-measured and re-orders on drawer fronts, doors, etc. They had one ongoing problem with the "Lazy Susan" and after mis-measuring, mis-ordering to the tune of 3 or 4 times, they got them pretty close, but there was no "bullet catch" on the bottom to keep it from freely swinging. (there was one originally.) We had to have them address various nicks in the paint after the laminate was put down, a door wound up warping, etc. All these issues are not insurmountable, but the time between addressing everything was insane! So after the owner had come out to put the bullet catch on the Lazy Susan, the doors were put back uneven. At this point, I still owed them $1,129. I waited for someone to call me to get their final sign off, etc. Never got that, but I sure got a bill for $1129! I waited for a phone call. The owner had his sales guy call me about the bill and I told him the situation. Owner called and left me a voice mail saying that he didn't understand, the doors went right back where they were, but in fact they were not. I never received another follow up, but did receive a bill. When the sales guy (notice that the owner is too timid to call) called me again, I told him that I couldn't believe that the owner was still pursuing this money when he never finished the job. We no longer owned the house at this point since it was now OVER a year since they started. I told them that if he was going to insist on that payment, then I would certainly share this experience, and do so truthfully. The response was to discount me $400 and ask me to sign an NDA (Non Disclosure Agreement) saying that neither I nor my family would say anything to anyone about the work performed. Seriously? OH! And this NDA was delivered in a VERY short amount of time, telling me that they have this on hand and have had it on hand due to previous issues very similar. I wonder how that affects their ratings. I told them that $400 wasn't worth me keeping my mouth shut and signing an NDA is a serious thing to consider as I may inadvertently over drinks or coffee mention my displeasure and could then be sued. I travel a lot and the invoice slipped my mind, but once again got a call from the sales guy about it. I have paid it in full and now I share my story.

Great job. Kitchen looks amazing. I get a lot of compliments. I'm very happy with the work. The owner (Tom) and his wife (Debi) are super nice people.

It went well and we will use them again. I have recommend them to others.

The guys who did the work paid attention to detail and did not rush their work. Quality of their work was excellent. Kitchen is beautiful. Only problem was an incorrect order of the materials for the island which caused a delay in completion. But these were good people to do business with.

I am considering them right now but I haven't got to the place where I can financially go ahead with the project. Their estimate and their information was very good. They did a good job. I am still doing comparisons.

While we chose another contractor, Tom was great and it was a tough decision not to use them. He worked hard and was very competitively priced.

Couple days later, the sweet lady that serviced me, said that they found my name in their database, and thought that perhaps I should take my business elsewhere. "REALLY?" "Yeah," she explained, "the system shows that you were disgruntled, and maybe you would be better doing business with someone else." Yes, I was disgruntled. Perhaps you will have a better experience. Just don't make them upset with you.
