Kitchen Tune-Up

Kitchen tune up acted as our contractor when we needed to clean up after a flood. We wanted a few upgrades, but wanted to keep the existing layout. Tom came over to assess and then measure taking time to answer all our questions. We chose new cabinet faces, improved some corner spaces that were inefficient, and upgraded our trash pullout. We realized mid construction that our dishwasher door wasn't going to open and Tom and Tim quickly helped us address the problem and fairly charged us for the change. He was very professional as was his entire staff during the process.

The end result was better than expected. The work was completed in one day and for the price quoted. The clean up by Kitchen Tune Up was also great!

Very pleased with the service and personnel. Was provided a detailed project plan with dates that tracked the project on a daily basis. Was very pleased with the service of the various workers (plumbers, tile layers, etc...) Committed dates were met. Service very professional. Daily clean-up was good. Would highly recommend them.

We had some measuring issues with the granite, and some color issues with the tile and the molding. Every time we had an issue Tom came out and looked at the issues and addressed them. When an issue would happen I thought they will not fix this and I will just have to live with it, but I was very please with the way they came out and made the "issues " go away as if they had never happened. I am very pleased with the way our kitchen looks and will gladly recomend them to anyone who needs their services. They are very pleasant and professional.

I had three different companies that do cabinet restoration work come out to give me estimates. Tom Taube was the only one who met my individual needs in a creative way. He did not use high-pressure sales tactics, but rather, he inspired confidence with his professionalism and thorough knowledge of how to create a custom look without ripping out my entire kitchen. His suggestions were many times better than the competition AND were a third of the cost (according to the estimates I was given). Trust me, do not call anyone else. There is no reason that remodeling a small kitchen should cost as much as your car.

We selected Kitchen Tune Up, after talking to three remodelling companies, on the basis of Tom Taube, the local owner's, knowledge and understanding of our needs as well as his competitive pricing. Tom worked with us and his recommended suppliers to choose the items we wanted and made sure they would fit. The tille design was selected from a demonstration bathroom at The Tile Shop. We had a budget in mind and we were able to stay inside it. The project started on schedule and progressed reasonably well. We had a couple of unexpected delays but we are very happy with the finished results. ,

Kitchen Tune-Up is very organized and provided a full schedule of work so we were never unaware of what was going to happen next. We knew what we needed to do and when so work was always progressing along the scheduled timeline. We knew how much time we needed to build into our own schedule to prepare the space - demolition and minor repairs - so as not to impact the installation. We also knew that, if we could not do the demo work we'd planned, Tom would be able to step in and get it done for us to stay on schedule. Debi presented us with the schedule and adjusted it as needed along the way. There were only a few minor changes so we never had any surprises. The entire schedule was completed as provided to us, well organized and orchestrated. The few questions or issues we brought up to Tom were immediately answered/resolved for us. We couldn't have asked for more proactive management of the entire project. The people sent to our home to do the installations were all professionals, very proud of their work and willing to take whatever time was needed to produce a superior result. This was not a 'get in - get out as fast as possible' mentality. This was truly quality workmanship. In the end, we did go over our original budget but only because we had added some enhancements we had not originally discussed with Tom or considered in the early planning stages. Since we don't intend to remodel the kitchen again, we made these additions now with confidence that Kitchen Tune-Up would give us a superior result. Tom was immediately able to work those into our design, exhibiting true flexibility. He was willing to meet with us as often as needed until we got the design we wanted - and did we ever get a wonderful design! The kitchen remodel is now complete and it is simply gorgeous. Beyond its looks, it is a wonderful space to be in. It still amazes us that no walls were moved yet the end result is so perfect for us. Where once two people couldn't easily work in the kitchen at the same time, we've already had 6 adults moving in and out of the kitchen together without hindering each other, truly enjoying the space. We couldn't be more pleased with the results. Tom and Debi at Kitchen Tune-Up met all of our needs exactly as presented to us the first time we met. I would recommend Kitchen Tune-Up tp anyone considering a Kitchen or Bath remodel.

Great! Tom and Debi did a great job of designing, coordinating, and implementing the project. We were very impressed with their professionalism and concern for our experience. Tom was flexible to work with and worked hard to ensure our satisfaction. He and his subs were a pleasure to work with. They all showed concern for responsiveness and cleanliness throughout the project. The project was done on time and to our satisfaction in the end.

He identified subcontractors to come in an do the work. He oversaw the results from beginning to end. There were several things that were important including his choice of subcontractors were excellent. This was not a large job compared to the other things he does but he gave us the same time and attention. He gave good advice.

I needed to reface/replace my kitchen cabinets at a minimal cost. Tom helped me with choosing a cabinet door and gave me many options to reduce the price. While I felt the price was high for what I wanted to do, Tom had the best price over all the other companies that do this service. His crew was puctual and polite. They worked really hard to have my kitchen done by Thanksgiving. There was a fit problem with one cabinet door and an aesthetic problem with a drawer. They replaced these quickly without any hassles. If I had to do this again, I would definitely choose Tom and KTU again.

Tom Taube owner of Kitchen Tune-Up, a franchise located in Charlotte, explained how he could reface my tired cabinets and showed me many options for refacing them. It was also recommended that he could build me a replacement pantry with roll out shelves, making it much more convenient then using my current pantry. Tom also designed a roll out trash and recycle drawer as well as little flip out drawers by my sink to store sponges. Tom and his assistant always arrived on time and left my house clean. The project was completed on time and I am thrilled with the results. My kitchen has been transformed and given a luxurious feel for a modest cost.

They were a pleasure to deal with. They were straightforward and gave me a bid right then and there. They gave me references, which I checked out. He has actually used me as a reference since then. The project took three days. The cabinets look like they're brand new. They did a wonderful job and knew what they were doing. They showed up on time.

Tom and the people he puts you in contact with are all very professional. We had a great experience from beginning to end. Tom met with us and discussed our wants and essentially designed the new layout in two challenging bathrooms--both quite small. He then gave us the opportunity to select fixtures, tile, shower glass, etc. from his affiliates. That was an interesting experience for us and made us feel very much a part of the process. Then the work began and we met Joe and his two remarkable tile men. They were all the best. They rebuilt the master bath literally from the ground up. They designed the tile work with the patterns we had chosen. When their work was done, the countertop and tile people came in and did a similarly professional job. Now we have other contractors who come in our home. If they go in the bathrooms, they inevitably ask, "Who did your tile work?" One contractor even asked for contact numbers so they could use them as subcontractors.

If you need or want a local craftsman to make truly custom cabinetry, this is not the right company to choose. They do not have the expertise to create and merge truly custom pieces with existing cabinetry. The custom pieces they offer are not made locally unless you live in Chanute, Kansas. The choices are limited, so you cannot get a truly custom piece with unique measurements, no matter what they tell you. Rather than create a truly custom piece, they will order the closest thing they can come up with and use alot of filler pieces & shimming to make the piece work. (They may do a better job if you want to rip out all of your cabinents and start from scratch.) Also, I would like to caution against using the KTU reconditioning process as a means to match existing cabinets with the newly-installed cabinets because that process didn't work. (It may work if all the cabinets have the exact same finish, but if they're even slightly different, I would not recommend using the KTU reconditioning that this company offers.) Also, the reconditioning process can be very messy if your technician fails to use a dropcloth or take ordinary care, such as closing the windows on a windy day before spraying lacquer. Although the company claims otherwise, the fumes are killer even with all the doors and windows open and strong winds blowing. Make sure you arrange for your family and pets to be out of the house if you decide to use this company.

My wife and and I have been looking at 3 options for our kitchen cabinets: replacing , refacing or refinshing. Overall the cabinets appeared to be in great shape other than some normal wear and tear. After obtaining several estimates for each option, we just wasn't totally convinced that these were all the affordable options out there. We called Kitchen Tune Up and they came out and wrote an estimate and scheduled the work to be done. They presented me with another option called wood reconditioning. they removed the dirt and grime build-up on my cabinets, then they used a touch-up and blend process to restore the color back to the cabinets.The technicians were very professional and they went a long way to explain the process. Our cabinets are "brand new" in the eyes of those who did not witness the process including my wife. I wanted to surprise her with our "new cabinets". She could not believe the quality of workmanship and for such an affordable price. I would encourage everyone to check out Tom and Debbie before they think about the other options I mentioned above.

He was responsible and had a good product. He came out and gave me a quote. It wasn?t quite as good as another one that I got. Everything else was fairly reasonable, though.

I have built a custom home and have redone another kitchen along with several bathrooms. Tom was the easiest and most honest contractor I have ever worked with. He was on time - what more can I say!!!!!!!!!!

Workers missed an area which I called about the next day. Problem was never resolved and check was cashed. Roll out drawers are not real stable. Anchored into front, but not attached to wall in back. Tried to get more work done, but was put off because of trade shows. I have since contacted other Angie's List members that have been responsive and willing to get started.

They came out and did the work 4 weeks ago. I would highly recommend them. They did a great job. The granite countertops were not originally put in properly and they were pulling away the cabinets from the walls because of uneven distribution of weight. Kitchen Tune-Up came out, assessed it, and fixed it for us. They basically just broke the seal and re-attached it. The owner came out personally. He was very prompt and very professional. He gave us the different options we could do to fix it in terms of the most comprehensive long-term versus the most expedient. He had his countertop crew out within days and they did a good job.

I felt that they were great. They were very patient with us when we wanted to add things on after discussion. They gave us timely estimate.

Tom arrived right on time for the estimate and spent nearly 2 hours detailing all of my options, describing the process, and answering my questions. I felt very much at ease in selecting Kitchen Tune Up. What I really liked was that Tom took the time to get a sense of our "handyman" skills and made suggestions as to things we could do ourselves to help keep the costs down (ie paint cabinet boxex, tear out countertop, hook up the sink). At every point along the way they (Tom and Debi) were very responsive to my questions, their crew always arrived on time, did wonderful work, and cleaned up upon leaving. Some of the work (countertop, ceiling repair after tear out, and hood install) were done through contractors approved by (or suggested by) KTU. Their work was equally professional and timely. I felt very comfortable that I was being referred to trustworthy and professional people. I have referred several friends to KTU and I'm sure they will have an excellent experience.

They were satisfactory in giving the quote. They came when they said that they would. They were complete in their analysis and in putting together their estimate. They were very helpful.

They were very professional and they got an enormous job done in tow days. They saved me a lot of money, because I did not have to replace my cabinets. They work had lasted and they still look good today. The price was good for all of the work that they did.

Thanks to Tom & team for a beautiful job of our kitchen cabinets! They are amazing and we are glad we had them reconditioned. Tom provided the quote (which was exact), the date set and then the transformation. The technician/cabinet guy that works for Kitchen Tune up was pleasant, courteous, prompt and did a perfect job. Our kitchen flooring and surrounding areas was protected and the job site was immaculent when I returned home. Our cherry cabinets are gorgeous, the color even and the finish very nice. This was not refinishing, but I can't imagine a refinishing job being any better.

Basically they quoted me a price and they did the work for that price. There was one problem and they came back out to rectify that. We were happy with the work they did.
