Landscaping
Initially well. I liked Lou. He's a very personable guy and had some creative ideas which I liked. The problem began with the execution. He, and/or his assistant, dug up and moved (albeit with difficulty) two large Azaleas. One is hanging on; the other may or may not make it. All of the Boxwoods died. The two new Azaleas by the driveway died and the other plant appears to be dead. He promised me he could return all of the new plants that died within a year, yet after a multitude of phone calls, he never did. The Lilac Bush he planted I have since learned is not located properly. It does not get enough sun to bloom. In front of my house, he put shorter plants in back and larger ones in front and/or did not stagger them correctly so one blocks the other. Some plants had an obviously "fuller" side than the others. Instead of facing the fuller side to the front that people saw, they were turned sideways or backward and overall it looked absolutely horrible. The Crape Myrtle he planted in the middle of the bed has three branches growing all in the same direction into the other branches. He said they would turn in the other direction. They seem to be getting worse. He planted a Red Bud tree that I purchased and paid for separately (as part of the design)from an established nursery. He failed to properly support either tree and when I called him and suggested it needed to be done, he said he would come out in a day or two and do it. Even after a reminder, he never did. My yard looked so bad when he was through that I took pictures to two different nurseries to try to find "fill-in" plants and to show the nursery personnel to get assistance with picking out appropriate plants. Neither place could believe I had just had it landscaped. I waited a year before posting this for two reasons: 1) Lou said it would take a year before the yard "welcomed me home" and I wanted to give him the benefit of the doubt; 2) He said he did not want to plant new bushes because of the water shortage, which I understood and we had time left on the warranty. However, he failed to respond to my last call to attempt to have the plants replaced prior to the expiration of the year's warranty. As a P.S....despite the water shortage, the plants that I bought are thriving and it would still look terrible without those plants. The little growth on the ones he planted simply emphasizes their displacement. My understanding is that he has a new business now but he still needed to take care of old business.
