Description of Work: Installed a gable mounted attic fan with thermostat (and humidistat) that automatically turns it on and off, as well as the required manual on/off switch. Also replaced an out side outlet that was loose (not ever installed properly by the builder).

 + -1 moreI had an electrical breaker that kept tripping when ever A/C and dryer were run at the same time. I have a hundred year old home that has both modern and not so modern wiring running through it. I called David Long to get him to replace the breaker and look over the electrical box and check for safety and good electrical distribution through out the house. They were fast, courteous, prompt and left me with a good feeling that the job had been well done. Their prices were very reasonable. I would use them again and recommend them to friends.
Description of Work: Replaced burnt out old breaker in electrical box and rewired other breakers for better distributed electrical supply to each breaker.

 + 0 moreDavid Long, the owner, came out and gave me an estimate to remove old kitchen lighting and replace it with new recessed can lights. I thought his price was very reasonable so we scheduled a time for them to begin the work. However, because this company is in high demand, I had to wait about 10 days for them to start, but judging from their high number of A ratings on Angie's list, I felt it was worth the wait. They began the work about 8 a.m. and finished when they said they would. They also did a very good job of cleaning up afterward. They used a broom and mop to clean up any drywall pieces, etc.
Description of Work: Gary and an assistant installed under cabinet Xenon lighting and removed three 4 foot fluorescent lights from my kitchen ceiling and installed five recessed halogen lights in their place. After cutting the five holes, Gary asked me if I wanted to add a sixth light to make the ceiling look more balanced and even offered me an excellent price to do it, but I said no thinking five would be enough. Boy, was I wrong. I realized I should have taken Gary's advice and had a sixth light put in because there was a dark spot. So I had them come back a few days later and add the extra light which looks fantastic!

 + -1 moreI had a terrible experience with this contractor which was disappointing given that this is the top rated electrician on Angie's List. First an electrician came to do an estimate. He was not very professional in his communication with me during the visit to my home. Then he was unable to provide the estimate at the time because he had further questions for his supervisor. I was told I would receive a call back that afternoon as well as receive a proposal via email. Neither of these occurred. Since that time, I have called the office three times to follow up and to find out the cost of my proposed work. I have spoken with the receptionist each time and am told she will give the owner the message. To date, I have not received a call back nor a proposal. Therefore, I have no intention to use this company. They are clearly not in need of the work.
Description of Work: I requested an estimate to have an outdoor shed wired as well as lighting fixtures installed.

 + 0 moreCalled and scheduled an appointment to replace a defective switch. Dave Long called on the day of the appointment to say that he would be a few minutes late due to traffic. Arrived a few minutes later and checked the switch and determined that I need to replace two three way switches. I asked him to check my doorbell because it was not operating properly. Troubleshot the doorbell and determined that the doorbell needed to be replaced. He replaced the switches and said to give him a call when I purchased a new doorbell.
Description of Work: Replaced two three way switches and troubleshot defective doorbell.

There were two of them working, no time wasted, so I knew it would about $70 per person per hour. While it would have been nice to pay less, I think the price was fair considering everything.
Description of Work: Snaked wiring for cable TV outlet through ceiling, wall, attic, put outlet from garage wall to outside brick, replaced fan switch, installed overhead hanging light, fixed electric fixture on wall.

 + 4 moreMy kitchen was gutted the day David arrived to give us a quote. He understood our desire to move on the project quickly and responded so. He arrived in a timely manner to begin work in the kitchen, updating panel outside, updating den wiring, etc. He called in all inspections and kept me posted. They worked hard to keep the area clean after completing their job for the day and they worked all the time, into the evening hours, and on Saturdays. He went over and above checking wiring and when he found issues discussed them with me and went on to upgrade. I was very concerned as we have aluminum wiring and he took the extra step to check all receptacles and make sure they were up to code, fixing many along the way. I could not be happier with the work.
Description of Work: We did a major remodeling on our house, gutted our kitchen, took walls down, upgraded electrical panel and added a screen porch with can lights/ceiling fan/receptacles. David came to the house in its gutted out state and then came back with a quote. He was very quick to emphasize that a permit would be pulled, which I found in my experience not everyone does this and try to avoid in some cases. David, Gary and Nathan all worked at our house, installing all new kitchen lights, switches bringing up to code, house built in 1968, brought den up to code when we had to remove paneling on wall, updated circuit breaker, updated wiring in bathrooms, changed receptacles in other rooms and correctly put in switches for ceiling fans in 4 rooms previous electrician had done incorrectly. Also spent much time in attic pulling wires and updating. Our house has aluminum wiring and he really worked to update and replace where he saw a need.

 + -1 moreIt went great! David came out within a day and assessed the situation on the spot. Called to tell me what he thought and then sent me an estimate within the next 24 hours. I knew it was going to cost some money but needed to get it fixed badly.
Description of Work: Removed existing electrical wires leading to garage/old laundry/workshop. Put in a complete fuse box, panel and exterior wiring. The house is very old and all exterior electrical was not to code, as it was put in by the homeowners. In recent inspections the electrical inside and outside has been an issue, but out of 3 inspectors, non told me that the wiring outside was dangerous. It was frayed and actually interior wiring. David also installed a new connection for a stackable washer & dryer, (the stackable was his idea, which was a great one) in the bathroom instead of the other option (more expensive) that we had. He even did a few additional checks and fixes without charging me. His guys checked up underneath the house in the crawl space to look at any old wiring and fixed what they saw needed to be done.
