 + 0 moreThis team is fantastic. Setting up the appointment was easy and pleasant, and they were available just a few business days after I called. The guys arrived a few minutes before 8AM (the scheduled time) and got started right away. I had to run to Lowe's because it turns out that the fixture that wasn't working was burned out, so I needed a new one, but they kept working through the other jobs while I did that (to save me time and hence money). They were very kind, very professional, and speedy. They even reminded me of the Angie's List coupon that was available - amazing! I'm already walking around the house seeing what else I might need done that they can come back out to help with!
Description of Work: I had one light fixture I needed replaced, another that stopped working, and also needed my timer box for my sprinkler system replaced.

 + 0 moreBobby and Andy arrived two minutes before 8am. I showed them what I needed done (install 2 light fixtures, assemble a ceiling fan on a drop pole, and install track lighting). The work they did was excellent. I specifically liked how Bobby took his time assembling the ceiling fan. Although he had done it many times before, he took the time to glance over the documentation. I appreciate that he just didn't assume he knew everything. Instead of just working on one job to completion, Andy was able to install the smaller fixtures while Bobby installed the ceiling fan. I was impressed with their time management. By the time Andy finished, Bobby also finished and they were able to work on the track lighting together, which definitely was a 2 person job. I would definitely hire David Long's company in the future.
Description of Work: I called David Long's company on Monday and received a return phone call later that same day. I explained that I needed to have a ceiling fan installed 14ft from the floor and 3 light fixtures installed from 8ft ceilings. The woman I spoke to was very friendly and was able to set me up with an appointment on Friday of the same week.

Description of Work: The lights in my ceiling fan/light fixture would not come on. I put in new bulbs, and still would not work. So, I thought it was an electrical problem. I called this company, made an appointment, and the two men were very prompt in responding. After examining the situation, it was apparant that it was not an electrical problem. It was MY problem! I had inadvertently pulled a switch that cut the lights off. All he had to do was pull the switch again, and lights were on! I felt so silly, but he didn't make me feel bad. Instead, he asked if there was anything else he could do for me since I was paying for the call. So... they ended up hanging some flower baskets for me on my front porch, and checking out my electrical box to make sure everything was in good shape. They would have done anything I asked of them, but that was all I needed done. Being disabled, and not able to hang the flowers myself, I was very appreciative of their kind hearts and cheerful spirits. That says a lot about them and their company. If ever I need any more electrical work done, I will definately use this company again. They are good people.

Description of Work: The electricity in our guest bathroom was not functioning. Bobby and Andy came out to diagnose the problem and determined that we had a faulty GFI outlet. Because we had an unusual outlet color, they purchased a matching outlet and quickly returned to replace it.

 + 0 moreI was having a problem with the self adjusting in-wall primer, which primes lights to come on and off at different time. Mine wasn't work and I thought that it was the outside light and the wiring, but it turned out that the thing in there was defective and not the wiring. So they checked that out and put a new one in. They are straight A's. They're always very prompt and courteous. I just had a questions about something when they were here, so I called and he called right back to asnwer it. They are also very reasonable price wise. The time before that when they came out they went above and beyond because we had a security light that kept going out and they kept putting a new one in and had to go back and forth to finally get one that worked. I am very pleased with them.
Description of Work: They installed a new bathroom fan and replace the self adjusting in-wall primer. They even had to cut out some drywall to make room for the new fan.

 + -1 moreDavid and his crew did an excellent job!! david suggested running the wiring under the slab for all the outlets and switches and it eliminated almost all the wiring in the walls. The crew made several suggestions during the build for the wiring of the lift and compressor and they all were great ideas. Overall I could not be happier with the job, the quality is excellent!!
Description of Work: New wiring and service for detched garage, including lighting inside and out and wiring for air compressor welders and 2 post lift.

 + -1 moreExcellent service, I had to delay them 3 times and they worked me in to there schedule within 4 hours because i was leaving town the next day. David was very helpful and went out of his way to meet my needs. Once on site they diagnosed the problem and fix it in a very short time.
Description of Work: My condo unit lights in two rooms went out and the breaker in the electric box was not triped. One of the staff electricitions came to the unit, after several delays due to cleaning problems that need to be completed first, on very short notice. The fixed the problem in a very short time.

 + -1 moreI called David on a Friday and he had Bobby at my house by Monday. Bobby had an assistant that went out and picked up all the stuff needed to accomplish above while he did the work. This saved a lot of time and money. They had everything wrapped up by lunch, which far exceeded my expectations. I also spent a little less than I thought as the price above includes all parts.
Description of Work: Bobby with David Long Electrical came out and wired in a sump pump, wired in a dehumidifier, replaced an old subpanel in the crawlspace that fed my air-handling unit, and installed a "whole house" surge protector.

 + -1 moreDavid did a great job and most importantly, worked us into his schedule immediately even though he and the rest of his electricians were booked for the day. Our septic alarm had gone off on Sunday and the septic company came out first thing Monday morning to find the septic wiring for the pump corroded and burnt. The septic company recommended that we get an electrician out to the house immediately. We called David Long Electrical and David called me back in 10 minutes. We informed him of the situation, but he said that he did not have anybody available right then and they were really backed up. We informed David that we really needed someone out to repair the wiring that day, so he said that he would see what he could do and would call back. David called us back in 10-15 minutes and said that he was on his way. He arrived at the house within 30-45 minutes and repaired the septic wiring in order to get the septic pump working. David also made some suggestions to improve the current wiring setup and gave a verbal approximate cost. We have used David Long Electrical before and we will definitely use them again.
Description of Work: The wiring to our septic pump was corroded and burnt which caused our septic alarm to go off because the pump was not working. David came out to our house and performed the repairs to the wiring in order to get our septic system up and running again.

 + -1 moreThe response was very timely. I called in the morning and Bobby came out within approximately an hour. He was very professional and explained the problem in terms I could understand. The work basically took all day. The circuit box was located in an outside storage room. Replacing that box took several hours on a bitterly cold day. There was a brief delay in replacing the doorbell, but that was minor and not a problem. I recommend this company and will definitely use them again.
Description of Work: I called primarily due to flickering lights in a bedroom, but there were a few other miscellaneous items to be addressed as well, like a non-working doorbell. The flickering lights were due to issues in the circuit box outside. Bobby explained the problem and showed me the box. He gave me two options to resolve the problem. I opted to replace the box, which was the more expensive option, but the best choice long-term (i.e, do it now or do it later). Once the box was replaced, he checked each switch and labeled what it controlled. The doorbell repair was done last. He didn't have a suitable doorbell in the van, so that was replaced two days later.

Description of Work: I did not realize that the switches were dimmer switches and the lights were blinking. Replaced two switches which were dimmer switches for regular switches.

 + -1 moreI left a message at 9:00 in the morning. I had been without a washer/dryer for 2 weeks and I was at my wits end. They use an answering service, who relays the messages to David. He called me back almost immediately and said he thought he could have someone at the house in a few hours. He called again at 12 to say that someone would be at the house at 12:30. When they were late, David called again to apologize and tell me that someone was on the way. Bobby arrived at 1. Initially he thought it would be a quick and easy fix, but for a variety of reasons it turned into a more involved project. He kept me updated the whole time, gave me estimates, etc. When he was finished, he helped me position the washer/dryer in the laundry room. This was a very positive experience and I will happily call them again. The only reason I rated them a "b" on price was because I have been used to using an single electrician who is on his own, so it was a bit of an adjustment to a higher hourly rate. But, I got great service and I can do laundry safely, so it was absolutely worth it.
Description of Work: I purchased a new bosch dryer that came with a 4 prong plug. I had been told I needed to swap the plug out for a 3 prong plug. Due to the configuration of the dryer, the electrician recommended upgrading the electrical line and plug instead of trying to modify the dryer. He told me that changing the cord on the dryer might void the warranty.

 + -1 moreHad flickering lights on 2-3 circuits in the house. Terry came out and checked a bunch of things in the panel and replaced 3 breakers and energized another part of the panel. Showed me a breaker that was illegally modified in order to fit into the panel. Once Terry had replaced the breakers, she stayed for about 20 minutes waiting to see if the ligts flickered which they didn't and then asked if there was anything else I wanted her to take a look at while she was here
Description of Work: Flickering lights on 3 circuits in our house. Terry checked the breakers, the panel and energized the bottom part of the panel. Replaced 3 breakers and waited to see if the flickering continued.

 + -1 moreShe arrived on time and quickly determined that the fixture, a fluorescent, needed a new ballast. Since it was European, we would have had to order it. I asked her to get a replacement fixture, and she did, from Lowe's. She replaced the fixture quickly and did a nice job making it secure in the ceiling. She cleaned up afterwards (plaster dust on the floor). The price was fair and the work was performed expertly.

David explained they were working on a project in SC on Friday and if they could get out it would be late. At 4:00 on Friday we called David to confirm - he said they would be at the house 8:00 a.m Saturday morning. At 8:00 a.m. on the dot Terry arrived! She was professional, thorough, nice to all of our "little helpers", and educated us in the process. She identified the problem and checked every single outlet in our entire house for any lurking problems. We will absolutely call David Long Electrical again and will request Terry! I've already referred two people to David Long Electrical and we just had our work done last week!!

 + -1 moreDavid Long Electric did a superb job!!!!! Terry was punctual, professional, and courteous. She listened to what projects we were undertaking, advised us of the best solutions to make our projects easier and look better, and then set about getting the work done. She even inspected minor issues we had with the outlets and lights in our son's room, after she completed the work we needed to have done. In examining our son's room, she detected that a builder installed light had a loose wire which was causing issues with the rest of the room. She promptly fixed it and asked if there was anything else we wanted done while she was there. This was a great experience and I would definitely recommend David Long Electrical. They are the only electrical company we will call going forward. Almost forgot. They actually answer the phone and get back to you promptly, including the owner calling after the work was complete to insure we were satisfied. Good to see that kind of service still exists today. Yet another reason the experience was great and why this company will be our electricians going forward.

 + -1 moreDavid came out to diagnose an intermittent problem I was having with my electricity. I swear there were gremlins in my light swithces - as soon as I would flip the switch, the breaker would trip - then I would trip- thinking the house would burn down! His answering service was very nice & contacted him immediately and - voila! He actually called me back, came out the next day and fixed me up. Unfortunately, the problem started again the following week! Help, I cried into the phone on a Saturday afternoon... no hot water! David came out at the designated time, went through every one of my switches/outlets to make sure all the little 'electrical thingies' were sitting pretty and not touching each other (wires don't like to touch, I learned....).... He was very generous with his time, a very friendly guy and I was very comfortable with him in my house. Even my bulldogs liked him! I will keep his numbers close at hand, hoping I won't have to call him again.... but, if I (or anyone else I know) needs electrical work done, I'll be dialing his cell phone! Great Job!!
Description of Work: He disgnosed an intermitten problem - some of the switches had worked themselves loose & wires were touching - caused the breaker to be tripped. He rewired my non-working doorbell, re-programmed my landscape lighting and wroked some kind of magic with my floodlights. He explained it all very well, in language I could understand.

At about 2:30 I got a call back from David saying he had someone in Ballantyne and he could conceivably have them at my house in an hour to look at my needs. Terry showed up right on time and basically said everything I wanted done could be done but because of the 100+ degree temp working in the attic might be better suited for another day, and I needed some parts so it would probably be best to scedule at another time. The best part however is Terry - SHE is awesome! She has a really good attitude, is a nice person, and it is a pleasure to have her in my home. Terry is A1A+ person. So - Terry scheduled an appointment for Saturday to meet my schedule (which was awesome)! On Saturday she showed up on time and did the work....Once again, it was a priviledge to have Terry work in my house!
Description of Work: I hired David Long Electrical to repair some wiring running to several outdoor spotlights in my backyard. The wire was cut doing some landscaping in my backyard. I also wanted them to change a bathroom switch and dianose why my attic fans were not runnning.

 + -1 moreVery nice lady who did a great job in a very hot attic to repair the one fan. She then had to crawl into a very tight spot in high temps to test and confirm the need to replace the other unit. Very nice to work with, and did a great job for us.
