Comfort First Heating and Cooling - Charlotte

Justin Hibler was kind and professional. He spoke with confidence when he educated me on the HVAC heating and cooling system. He also shared with me tips on what I can do to keep my system performing properly. My plan is to use this company again next year and I hope the next technician will be as great as Justin.

Pretty well, except that after tech left premises, the downstairs (non-heat pump) unit did not cool properly for two days: didn't seem to shut off, until downstairs cooled to well-below set temperature. Advised service, and decided to wait for next "hot days". Working fine now; it's "as if" the HVAC and the thermostat needed some time to co-calibrate... or something. Also, this is the first time that a spring-time servicing visit did NOT include some kind of cleaning (hose, detergent, whatever) of the evaporator coil part. First I've used Comfort First in the spring (used them last fall, and will probably do so again this fall).

No problem found and A/C started cooling while Rep was checking unit. I appreciate the honesty because He could have padded the bill.

My technician was friendly and helpful. He took the time to teach me as he worked. He presented the facts on how certain components were performing and allowed me to decide whether or not I wanted to follow up with additional repairs.

Not that great. It seems our system doesn't use R-410A refrigerant. So, although the the HVAC system needed refrigerant, we would have to pay for it and the refrigerant would have been a lot more than we usually pay. Now we have to spend more money for another service call with another provider to get the refrigerant put in and we have two units to maintain.

Mr. Gunn did a great job explaining what needed to be done and getting it done.

I was given a time slot of 10-2 which seemed like a large enough window to get it done before I had a doctor's appointment at 4. Keep in mind this was an appointment I've been waiting months for. Around 1 p.m. they called to tell me they were running late. I figured it would still be okay since it shouldn't take more than an hour to get the tune up. They finally arrived at 3:15 and spent an hour there. I ended up missing the doctor's appointment for this work to be performed. So not only did I have to reschedule my appointment, but I was charged a fee for not showing up. The work was performed satisfactorily and they were polite, but I am frustrated that I had missed work and a doctor's appointment just to wait for a company to tune up my air conditioner.

Only complaint was they didn't make it clear up front that the free 1 lb. of refrigerant will cost you $100 if your unit is more than about 10 years old like ours is. Tech was on phone most of the time he was here working.

The office staff was very professional and polite when scheduling. However I did have an issue with the technicians attitude and professionalism. I had to ask the tech if he was going to clean the unit. He complained that the unit was very dirty and wanted to know when it was last cleaned. (I was polite and did not tell him that this was one of the reasons I bought the deal) He said I needed 2 lbs of freon, but because my unit was so old I had to pay for it and I was not eligible for the free 1 lb freon.

This was a second opinion on another HVAC company. We found Comfort was less expensive, but they did not put in the free one pound of freon. When I spoke to the service manager he explained that putting in the one pound would be detrimental to the air conditioning system. Because we were Angie's members they would give use the second pound at a reduced rate. The service tech was schedule for a 12:00 - 3:00 time period. At 3:00 he called and said he would be there in 45 minutes. That 45 minutes ended up in his arrival at 7:00. That was why I gave them a "D" for punctuality.

Services went well and all work was completed. Also got a few quotes on potential additional work.

Gilbert did a fantastic job! My unit looks and is running like it is brand new. He explained everything he did, showed pictures, and took great care in the work. I am beyond pleased and would certainly hire Comfort First Heating & Cooling again.

From my initial question, the appt. scheduling, and to the date of the actual service I received prompt responses and constant communications. The Technician Nelson provided exceptional service. He was Very friendly, arrived on time, performed the services in a timely fashion and was very courteous to our home. I AM GLAD TO SAY IT WENT VERY WELL, THEY RESTORED MY FAITH IN BUSINESSES. NOT ONLY DID THEY DO A FOLLOW-UP AND TELL ME ABOUT THE COMPRESSOR BUT THEY REFUNDED MY MONEY AND TOOK THAT HARD START KIT. HE SAID THEY DIDN'T ME PAYING FOR SOMETHING I DIDN'T NEED. WHAT A JOY TO FIND PEOPLE WITH THIS MENTALITY!!!!! I GUESS THEY ARE THE GOOD GUYS.!

MONEY WAS PAID BUT STILL NO AIR. I PAID FOR TUNE- UP AND 1 lb, REFRIGERANT WHICH I NOW I KNOW I DIDN'T NEED SINCE MY UNIT IS ONLY 3 YRS. OLD.I PAID FOR HARD STAR KIT WHICH DOES NOT CAUSE MY AIR TO WORK.THE TECHNICIAN WAS NICE A DIAGNOSTIC APPOINTMENT TO LOOK AT ITFOR $89.00 WHICH SHOULD HAVE BEEN DONE BEFORE I WAS TOLD IT NEEDED THE HARD START KIT WHICH COST ME AN ADDITIONAL $247.66.THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE FOR ME AND I FEEL I CHEATED

EXCEPT THERE WERE SOME VENT COVERS LEFT OFF AND WE HAD TO PUT THEM BACK ON.

They went over my furnace, and made sure it was ready for the winter season. They didn't charge me any more, I didn't need any other parts or anything. I would give them an A, they did a very nice job. I just found that it was done in a timely fashion. It was complete and the furnace has functioned well since they have left. That was the first time I used them and that was because of the special you had online.

Very friendly crew. Got right to work, explained what was happening, detailed their findings in plain english.

The work was done in a timely manner. Kenny explained everything to me as well as future recommendations. He was very professional and friendly. I would definitely use this service again.
