+ 0 moreJack is a person you trust..not just his character but his talents. Once he got started i quickly knew i wasn't dealing with an ordinary painter. He would brainstorm and we would talk about ideas. He listened and incorporated my thoughts as well as help me understand his suggested application. When he painted the Fireplace and it looked like LEATHER...I was truly amazed. Gorgeous!!! Description of Work: There is no Category for Jack Wilkey! This guy is an artist! My house had a great floor plan but it was so boring. Jack Wilkey is truly amazing. Angies List doesn't have a proper category for his talents. Here is a sample of what he has done for me: 1. Refurbished Kitchen Cabinets from Pecan to a deep rich Mahogany. It included painting, distressing and applying a gel glaze. This was an incredible option to refacing or replacing... 2. The Bar : Jack painted and distressed the cabinets and applied a pickling stain. Very Sharp! 2. a. He also applied a metallic Faux on the wall and ceiling and in corner alcove. It makes a gorgeous back drop for artwork or pictures 3. Mantle: This was amazing. We have high ceilings and our fireplace was black but the Mantle was all white up to the pitch of the ceiling. Because of the open floor plan he did the mantle to match but with a twist! He LEATHERIZED the walls within the molding 4. Kitchen Island: Painted and distressed bead board with a chocolate glaze 5. Sunroom : Painted and distressed the bead board on the ceiling with the same chocolate glaze 6. The office...Just when i think it couldn't get any better. Painted and faux'd an accent wall color on color as well as two recessed shelf alcoves. This is MAGNIFICENT! 7. He's also painted walls ceilings and trim....

Description of Work: Jack Painted several rooms including trim, ceilings and faux painted several walls in our home. He also antiqued and custom painted and finished several cabinets in our bathrooms, and did a fantastic job. Custom He also bronzed several brass chandiliers and wall lamps to make them new without having to take them to a landfil. This was very green and not wasteful as we were going to replace these fixtures. Now they look up to date and compliment the decor of our Home

+ -1 moreJack was a true professional. He was cheerful, hardworking, and pleasant to work with. He took an artistic approach to his painting which was reflected in its excellent quality. Our dining room, which had never seemed very attractive before, suddenly had a real presence and beauty to it which offset our furniture perfectly. We couldn't have been happier with our experience working with Jack.
Description of Work: Jack painted the walls and shadow boxes in our dining room with a faux finish. He also advised us regarding the paint color around the top border of the room.

+ -1 moreIf you know what colors you want and just want straight painting, Jack is not the painter for you. He is rather expensive in that regard. He is very good at making the architectural aspects of your house stand out. For example columns and crown moulding. He is good at coming up with custom colors. He is not very anal with wall prep which we are. I believe Jack views painting as an art. He will work Saturday, Sunday and late until the early evening if you let him.
Description of Work: Jack painted practically my whole house-family room, kitchen, foyer, upper and lower hallways, dining room, living room ceiling and bedroom tray ceiling. He painted stripes in my dining room and fauxed my foyer, kitchen and bedroom tray ceiling. He also fauxed the lightswitch plates for my tile backsplash and the areas that he fauxed.

+ -1 moreI JUST WISH HE WOULD HAVE CALLED ME BACK, EVEN IF IT WAS TO TELL ME HE WAS TOO BUSY TO START MY JOB. I WOULD HAVE BEEN WILLING TO WAIT A WHILE BECAUSE I WAS CONVINCED HE WOULD HAVE DONE A FANTASTIC JOB.
Description of Work: I CALLED FOR AN ESTIMATE. JACK RETURNED MY CALL AND SAID HE COULD STOP OVER THE FOLLOWING WEEK TO SEE WHAT I NEEDED TO HAVE DONE. HE ARRIVED AT MY HOUSE, AND WE WENT OVER THE JOB. HE MADE GREAT SUGGESTIONS, NARROWED DOWN THE PAINT COLORS I HAD IN MIND AND TOLD ME HE WOULD GET A COUPLE OF QUARTS TO APPLY TO THE WALLS SO I COULD BE TOTALLY HAPPY WITH MY FINAL DECISIONS. HE WANTED HIS CUSTOMERS TO LOVE THE RESULTS. HE WENT ON TO POINT OUT ALL THE VARIOUS LITTLE TOUCHES HE INCLUDES IN HIS JOBS. I WAS SO HAPPY, BECAUSE I COULD SEE THAT HE WOULD DO THE JOB RIGHT. HE SAID HE WASN'T THE CHEAPEST, BUT ASSURED ME HIS WORK WAS WORTH IT. I THOUGHT THE CONSULTATION WENT GREAT. HE LEFT, WITH MY PAINT SAMPLES, AFTER WE SETTLED ON THE COLORS. I WAITED A WEEK AND THEN CALLED HIM BACK. I LEFT A MESSAGE ASKING IF HE HAD WORKED OUT THE ESTIMATE YET. THAT WAS JULY 9TH AND I NEVER SAW HIM OR MY PAINT SAMPLES AGAIN????? I WAS SO DISAPPOINTED, ESPECIALLY SINCE HE LIVES IN THE SAME TOWN THAT I DO.

WE WERE NOT SURE OF THE COLOR TO USE; JACK HAD SAMPLES MADE UP AND IF IT WAS NOT RIGHT, HE WENT BACK AND HAD MORE MADE UP. HE OFFERED SUGGESTIONS. I CANNOT SAY ENOUGH ABOUT HIS SERVICE. IF YOUR RATINGS WENT HIGHER THAN AN "A", I WOULD RATE HIM A+++++++++++
