We recently moved and hired Joel to complete a full structural inspection of our new house. We are exceptionally pleased with the quality of service that he and Darlene provided from start to finish. Despite it being a very busy time of the year, Joel was accommodating with scheduling, completed a thorough review of our house, prepared a detailed findings report, and spent ample time walking through his analysis to make sure we understood his recommendations. Joel is extremely knowledgeable and just trustworthy. Darlene was also a pleasure to work with through the process. I would highly recommend Whitley Engineering to any friends and family. We were very appreciative to have Mr Whitley review our retaining wall, which ended up being a landscaping wall. He was very informative and helpful. His assistant was also wonderful. We would definitely hire again.

He arrived early and was very nice. When he was done he gave a detailed overview of what he found and an approximate estimate of how much it would cost for some repairs. He even gave an assessment on areas I wasn't even expecting and was honest and professional throughout the whole inspection.

One hour, inside and out, nice engineer. Little trouble with their fax machine (twice) and had to correspond and eventually mail the signed work order to them before they would release my report.

I could go on for days about the wonderful service provided by Whitley Engineering. I called on a Monday for a quote and to schedule an appointment and Joel was able to do the inspection the next day. Joel was very thorough with his inspection and gave me the best recommendations for how to repair. He answered all of my questions promptly and I couldn't have asked for anyone better to do the inspection. Darlene went above and beyond to make sure I had everything I needed; the quote, agreement for services, the final report, my invoice, and answers to any questions I had. I would recommend Whitley Engineering to everyone I know.

Darlene has great phone skills, and I was really excited at first. The disconnect was their website seemed to describe the exact services I was looking for, however, my job was finally rejected outright as being too much for them to handle. Suggest updating website to better describe types of jobs that suit them best so that others don't waste their time. Perhaps they service realtors only?

I have worked with this company previously and trust the opinion and advice received. This time was the same. The evaluation is professional and the advice for the work to be performed is of necessary scope and not overkill. Some engineering companies will perform evaluations that do not take the age of the home into account. My house was built in 1929 and the report I received recognized that some floor slope is fine and provided reasonable repairs to ensure sufficient support but without over engineering a solution.

We worked with Darlene to schedule the structural inspection - she was polite and helpful in getting us scheduled quickly due to an nearing due-diligence end date. I also followed up with her post-inspection several times for miscellaneous questions and she was always quick to get back to me. Joel himself was extremely helpful. We are out of state buyers, and he went above and beyond in spending time with us to explain the issues at hand. He walked me through the report over the phone, and also gave me a "ballpark" figure of what to expect in terms of costs to fix. After I told him a separate contractor came in very high, he willingly provided me a few contractors he knew that would likely be much lower (and they were). In addition to the items we asked him to check, Joel also pointed out some other things he thought could be problematic (a tree whose roots may be going under the house that should be removed). Interestingly, before we closed on the house a storm destroyed the tree and the sellers had to cut it down. I sent him pictures of the stump and he looked at them and told me it did not appear to be any damage to the house. In short, Joel was priced reasonably, and performed above and beyond his scope. I will certainly use Joel again for any future needs.

They did a really good job. It went very well. They were very professional. They were very straightforward about what needed to be done, what could be done and what should be done. They were very thorough. They called around in the 3 foot basement of the house. They were very trustworthy. I certainly do not feel like they were recommending anything that didn't need to be done.

His report listed many structural problems and pointed out shifting and foundation issues. His report went far beyond the general inspection we had already paid for, and I believe it was money very well spent. His services are not the least expensive, but the thoroughness meant we were not going blindly into a home purchase with potentially very expensive repairs that needed to be made. I highly recommend his work and would use him again without hesitation.

They were great. They came ten minutes early, did the work and explained it. They promised to give me the blueprint and they gave it to me fast, as promised and gave me 10% off for being an Angie's List member.

Whitley Engineering are well regarded in the area. The report was comprehensive. There was an issue when we asked if he would come to a hearing and stand by his report and he wouldn't do it.

The civil plans met our expectations. Super DECK. The house may go during a hurricane, but the house will be THERE!

In the process of having a home inspection done, the inspector found items he suggested needed further structural review. I called companies over the weekend looking for a structural engineers from Angie's List. Due to our due diligence period and upcoming travel, I needed the review done quickly as I possible. Darlene was very prompt returning a call on Monday morning. She tried to fit us in on Monday, but schedules for both of us were difficult and we agreed on Tuesday. Monday afternoon, Joel called to say he could be available late Monday based on finishing up early. He also commited to give us a 1/2 hour notice so that we could meet him at the property as he was coming from the south side of town. As promised, he called 30 minutes prior to arrival time, and was very punctual (we were actually late.) By the time we had arrived, Joel had already done a full walk around of the property and found some items not found by our inspector. We had requested review of shims in crawl space, and a bowed wall, as well as an idea of additional support needed to put a pool table in our morning room, and estimates on the scope of work to add stairs and turn 3rd floor attic space into a theater. He took the time to clearly listen to our concerns, walk the area with me, then wert to work. He did above and beyond what we had requested of him. He did additional crawl space inspections, provided footing testing, and suggestions for external areas that were out of scope from my original requst. Once his inspection was complete, Joel provided a clear explanation of his findings and possible solutions, as well as areas of real concern vs things to just watch over time. Joel spent almost two hours after a late day start with us. We never felt like we were rushed or pushed in any way, and he didn't leave the home until after 7:00PM. Prior to leaving, he also let us know that there was an Angie's List coupon for $50, and removed it from our bill! He provided a clear written document of his findings the next day as promised. A few days later, we went back and asked for rough estimates, and since he does not perform the work himself, for some recommendations on GC's that could do the work. Once again, they were extremely responsive, and by end of day, I had both the estimate, and the numbers for contractors. Joel is very professional, courteous, responsive, and delivers above what is requested. Will certianly use Whitley Engineering for any other needs like this, and to help us architect the structural needs of our theater.
