CAROLINA TREE CARE

My mother called to get an estimate and I met with the owner Chad Sisk when he came and we walked the property of my parents home and went over everything we wanted done. Chad seemed interested in the work and said it wasn’t a problem. He also spoke of his faith which on face value seemed genuine, but now I believe to have been simply a tool used to create something endearing. We had a lot of bushes to remove and wanted the canopy of the trees raised as well as trimmed. Additionally I asked for all the weeds removed, the beds cleaned out, all the old mulch removed and replaced along with clearing a small fenced in area housing a propane tank of weeds and overgrowth, spray for weeds, lay weed cloth, and lay gravel. He gave me a quote for $2000. I didn’t haggle or try to negotiate the price down and ultimately hired Chad and his company. On the day they arrived it was a very hot day and they didn’t bring water so I made some containers of ice water and provided glasses to keep Chad and his crew of 3 hydrated. They worked hard but they were rushing and I had to go out several times to make sure they did what they were supposed to do. At the end of the day even I was exhausted the heat was unrelenting and I failed to walk all around the house before they left and that’s on me But when Chad came in to tell me they were done I handed him a check for $2000 and a $100 bill as a tip. The next morning I took my mom out to walk the property showing her the results and I found some items undone and once inside I sent a text to Chad with photos asking when they might come back to complete the work. He came out to see about what was in the photos and after coming to the door he walked the perimeter but never came back inside to discuss or even to let us know he was leaving, he was just gone. It was raining so I thought maybe he just wanted to get on the road. So after a week with no contact I texted him and he replied saying he was backlogged with storm work but would come take care of it. More weeks go by and again I contact and again he says they’ll come as soon as they can. Finally over a month later I text again but get no response. I texted one more time and still no reply. He never came to complete the job. It may have seemed minor to him but my mother is 84 and I’m 60 with spinal fusions and cannot do this work. He didn’t have a problem taking the $2000 check nor the $100 cash tip. I don’t appreciate people taking advantage of others and I don’t appreciate being lied to. I have much more work here on the property and would normally use a person or company again who honored their word and did a good job, but sadly I will never use this company again.
