I purchased the Deal on September 25th and set an appointment for November 8th. A few days before the appointment and he called and asked if he could reschedule to November 15th, which was fine. On November 12th, I called and rescheduled for the 29th due to family issues. The 29th came and he never showed up. I called him and he said he had the gout and also forgot about us. We weren't able to schedule an appointment for December due to being busy, so he said to call him back in January to schedule another appointment. That appointment was supposed to be today, but again, he has not shown. We are just going to get a refund from Angie's List and do the work ourselves.

I initially bought The Big Deal to have 30-year-old wallpaper removed from a foyer and upstairs hallway. The walls had not been sized prior to the initial installation. Lee from Meticulous Painting was prompt in his response and gave me an estimate to remove all the wallpaper, including repair of walls, as well as painting those areas. I was very happy with both the wallpaper removal and the painting of those areas. I then asked Lee to paint a dining room for me, part of it using red paint. I plan on using Meticulous again in 2013 for some additional wallpaper removal and painting.
Description of Work: 30-year-old wallpaper removed from foyer, up a flight of stair and upstairs hallway.Same areas painted. Dining room painted. Room had wainscoting around the room. Two different paint colors used above and below wainscoting.

Bought a Big Deal for 4 hours of wallpaper removal and after several contact attempts, finally got a call back to schedule a date for the work. Lee arrived late on the agreed-upon Saturday morning, and immediately began to lament that he had over-booked and would only be able to provide 2 of the 4 hours on this day, and would reschedule for the remainder of the time. He had brought limited tools with him because he was "locked out" of his storage unit. We provided trash bags, broom, bucket, etc. Then the fun began - he proceeded to attempt to strip the wallpaper from our master bath walls. Granted, the former owners had wallpapered directly onto the drywall and then had painted over the wallpaper, but that did not prepare us for the destruction. After 2 hours and a big mess, he packed up to head on to his next job. He did not even have time to clean up the majority of the paper he had been able to remove. We called several times to attempt to schedule the rest of our time, intending to have him repair the damage from his first visit and not remove more wallpaper, but never heard back. We have since given up and decided to hire someone else to make the repairs and finish the job. I would not use this company again.

I realize that everyone has their perspective and that since a great deal of time has passed, from August 10th to early December, recollections certainly have faded but I am shocked and certainly disappointed that this members perception of events could be so drastically different from the events that I experienced. I informed the member that I was trying to squeeze this appointment into the schedule and that I would need to work 2 of the 4 hours on the first day and follow up on the next. The member agreed and I arrived on site to do the work. I arrived on site with all tools and supplies that would be needed for the job. I drive a van so that I can have my tools, and any supplies that might be needed for a whole range of jobs from painting, to wallpaper removal or drywall work, on board at all times. I proceeded with the first two hours of work as agreed and I prepared to leave for my next appointment. I began to clean up the area and it was then that the member stopped me and stated that it would be silly for me to take the time to do a thorough clean up as I would be returning the next day. I told the member that I was uncomfortable leaving a job site with any cleanup to be done but again she stressed that there was no need to remove the plastic sheeting that I had put down and that I could simply do a final clean once the job was done the next day. The next day came and I called the member to finalize the appointment and, much to my dismay, I was unable to get in contact with the member. I did leave a message and I tried again that following Sunday the 12th. I continued to try to contact the member, to no avail, and I eventually gave up after repeated attempts. While on site there was never any indication of any dissatisfaction from the member and she was actually quite pleasant. I have been racking my brain to try to understand how I could have offended her to such an extent that she would write such a review, nearly four months after the fact. I suppose that the reason that it took nearly four months to express such utter outrage will remain a mystery. Customers are the life blood of my business so, naturally, my main goal is to provide an excellent service experience at a reasonable price so that I can foster a positive relationship with every customer that I come in contact with. I am grateful for each and every customer and I realize that the trust between provider and customer is essential in building the type of customer base that is needed to survive in the painting business. I have certainly made my share of mistakes over the years. I have had scheduling flops, employee issues, etc and but when I have had issues I have always followed through and I always show up. In the few instances that a customer indicates that they have had a bad experience I have tried not only to rectify the issue, but to also learn and grow from each experience so that I can continually improve upon the service that I offer to my customers. The one thing that I do not do, nor have I ever done, is leave a customer unattended or do damage to a property. I strive to have a positive relationship with everyone I have the pleasure of serving and I am disappointed that our perceptions of this experience are so radically different. That said, I know that I did what I could to try to meet the customers expectations and I deeply regret that the communication did not exist to make that possible.

The owner called me back quickly when I tried to set an appointment. He came and set the the date and time for the job. When the day came, his employee came after 1230 and was able to do two rooms. We then set a date and time with his employee to come finish the job. Unfortunately, the employee had a health issue and forgot to tell the owner the finish date. They could not come the date I had set with the employee. I had to get it done by the next day because my vacation was ending. The owner sent two painters to finish the job and they did. Although the date and time were later than expected, the job was finished and looks good.

I signed up for an Angie's List deal - $99 for 3 hours of wallpaper removal. It went very well and Lee did a good job. Initially I did have a little trouble getting in touch with him to schedule an appointment, but once we got a time scheduled, everything went well. he did a very thorough professional job and gave me even more than the 3 hours that I had paid for. I would definitely hire him again.

Overall, the work went well and I was very satisfied with the quality of work performed. There were issues with the color of the ceiling paint I had for the touch up of the ceiling, and he tried using some of his paint; however, there were matching issues so he suggested that he come back at a later date to try to match the paint. I appreciated him letting me know that the paint was not a match for the ceiling in lieu of him painting it and letting me know later or not discussing this issue at all.
Description of Work: I purchased the Angie's List special and called to schedule an appointment. The contractor rescheduled the appointment on two occasions; however, he informed me of the change and reasons in a timely manner. He arrived on time at 9:30 am on the day the work was scheduled to be performed and called to let me know he was in route. Upon arrival, he was nice and friendly and attentive to the work I requested to be performed which included touch up painting and re-puttying several areas in a tray ceiling.

This situation is a mixed bag. On one hand, the end product was pretty good. On the other hand, the means to the end product was messy and, at times, chaotic and stressful. I contacted Lee at Meticulous Painting and Drywall and scheduled an estimate. I wanted wallpaper removed and the walls painted in two bathrooms and i wanted a guest room painted. The prices was $1,000. The gentleman sent to my house was a very nice guy, i think he did the best he could but ultimately got overwhelmed with the task at hand. One clue he was overwhelmed: Both of my commodes (i only have two commodes) were removed (to access the wall behind them) from both the bathrooms at the same time for an entire day. I'm a very patient person, really, but a homeowner ought not be required to relieve themselves in their yard to accomplish wallpaper removal. He was at my house for 3 days. Start time was scheduled each day for 9 AM but actual hands-on work didn't usually start until about 11 AM (or later) each day. Because of the workload and breaks, he was at my house until 8 PM or later each night. I know removing wallpaper is messy business, but i wasn't prepared for the amount of mess this process produced. Good thing my bathroom floors are tiled because the amount of water that wound up on the floor surely would have damaged wood or carpet. This may be part of the process for removing wallpaper, but to me it seemed like it would have been easier and less messy to just tear out and replace the sheetrock. I was going to have the wallpaper removed from my kitchen, but my kitchen has wood floors, so this process won't work. Once the wallpaper was off the walls the painting began. The painting went great. It's obvious this gentleman knows how to paint. This was his forte. No taping off was necessary, his steady hand and eye for detail was excellent. No complaints with the painting. Beautiful painting skills. Like i said at the beginning, this experience was a mixed bag. After 3 days i decided to cut the project short and paint the third room (my guest room) myself. I really didn't want to deal with another day of disarray in my home. I paid the full price. I was disappointed there was never a followup call from the owner, Lee. I would have told him jobs like this require AT LEAST a two person crew. The one person he sent did his level best with the circumstance, but ultimately this experience will prevent me from using Meticulous Painting and Drywall again.

On the one hand I am happy that the member had the work done to his satisfaction. On the other I do regret that we did not live up to the members overall expectations. I was a bit shocked by this review as the member never called me about the issue. The job was completed and it was my understanding from my staff was that the customer was satisfied. My goal is always to ensure a customers complete satisfaction. I regret that I was not made aware of this members concerns sooner and that we did not create a more satisfying experience in this instance.

)Lee arrived on time, did prep work and removed the wallpaper the first day. He was personable, worked steadily and completed the job and cleaned up. I had him return the following week to paint my kitchen. He arrived on time, meticulously set about doing the prep work (taping and laying down tarp) then did the painting. Not a lot of area, but difficult spaces over the cabinets to get to. Again he worked steadily, and when the job was completed, he cleaned up everything.

The day after I purchased the Angie's List coupon, Lee contacted me to set up the appointment. He checked in again the night before the appointment. He arrived on time and was very professional and friendly. He protected all surrounding surfaces and made sure the ceilings were prepped properly before starting to paint. He did not charge me for my three hours of painting until after the areas had been prepped. He did a beautiful job on the painting and cleaned up from his work thoroughly afterward. I felt totally comfortable with him and was completely satisfied with his workmanship.

One bathroom ended up being much more involved than first thought due to the fact that primer had not been used on the drywall prior to wallpapering. However, Lee and Don stuck to the original estimated price despite the extra work involved. We added having them remove the popcorn texture on the ceilings and glad we did!!!!!! There were a few spots we had to do some more touchup, but overall they did a very good job and were very pleasant to work with!
Description of Work: Stripped wallpaper in three bathrooms......one of the bathrooms was a real bear due to the fact that the walls had not been primed before the wallpaper had been applied (before we bought the house). I performed much research on Angie's list for painters. Specifically, I needed to get three estimates for painting the interior of my house. I selected Meticulous Painting and Drywall as on of the three based on the Angie's list rating. I called Meticulous on Thursday, October 18th to schedule an appointment for Monday, October 22 at 8:30 AM. On Monday, October 22 at exactly 8:15 AM the sales individual called to let me know he would not be able to make the appointment. He also asked me if I was getting other estimates. I first expressed my concern that I had taken the morning off of work to meet him and that he was calling only 15 minutes before our appointment to cancel. Second, when I answered his question about estimates and told I was getting two other estimates he said " fine I am really not interested then". I said this very sharply and rudely. I found the behaviour and professionalism of Meticulous to be unacceptable - I would not recommend them.

I called the member monday at 8:15 am to tell him I was runing late that morning and to ask if we could schedule his eatimate from 8:30am to 9am. He did not answer his phone so I left a message. He called me back a few minutes later to tall me he got a garbled massage on his phone about our estimate appointment. I repeated to him very politely the message that I left. He said "If I could not make the appointment at 8:30am that he would get someone else to do the job". I politely said "Thats fine I understand". At 8:45am he called me and and asked me if I could be there at 9am because he had 2 painters scheduled to give him an estimate that day and another latter that week. I Thanked him for calling but because of time constraints I politely declined his request.

arrived late, but still put in the full 3 hours that was prepaid through Angie's List.
Description of Work: Worker called to let us know he'd be running late. Called a second time that he would again be late. When arrived, went to work after explaining what he'd be doing and assessing how much time it would take. He was extremely pleasant to have working and knew exactly what needed to be done to get it done professionally and efficiently. He got less done than he thought he would for 3 hours of time and additional time was not possible, since he was already running extremely late. We decided he was indeed reliable and we invited him back to perform more work for us when he could spend an entire day or two. We decided he as definitely a "keeper".

Overall this was a great experience and the results were phenomenal. I have had ups and downs on Angie?s List and even on this Job I had several providers fail to even provide an estimate. That said working with Lee was fast and easy and I got the results I was looking for at a reasonable price.
Description of Work: The work was done over a three day period and it basically involved the removal of two layers of 30+ year old wallpaper that had been applied directly to the drywall with no primer and painted over with a thick, almost blinding coat of bright yellow paint. Generally I would tackle a project like this myself but the kitchen is nearly 250 square feet (top of the walls only as the bottom half was wainscoting) and after I had tackled a 3ft square sample patch and done a lot of damage I thought that I had better bring in a professional. At first when I was quoted $300.00 I thought the price was a bit high for simple wallpaper removal but I liked the presentation and I decided to go for it. After almost three days the work was done and I realized what a great deal that I had gotten. Quite frankly the level of service and the attention to detail was far and above what I had expected. After paint, multiple layers of paper, and 30 years of bonding between the original paper and the drywall it was guaranteed that this was going to be a hard job. As mentioned above I am a person that does a lots of work myself so I made a point of watching a lot of the work to see if I could learn anything. Lee didn’t mind at all and in fact scheduled on the weekend at my request so that I could learn a few pointers in case I decided to try to do the work in one of the smaller rooms myself. I was amazed at the amount of work that went into this project. The work was tedious and it was almost as if the paper was fighting to stay on the walls. It was coming off, inch by inch, and there was a good deal of damage done to the drywall. There was no way around it as the previous owner had neglected to apply even a drop of primer to the drywall before applying the paper. Lee dutifully pulled, tugged, and scraped until every last bit of that hideous paper had been banished from my kitchen. After the paper was gone he primed the wall with a drywall sealer and applied two skim coats of mud and sanded until the wall was perfectly smooth and ready for primer. Quite frankly, I am amazed. The walls are perfectly smooth and awaiting a coat of primer. I was planning on doing the job (as I am on a shoestring budget) but after the quality of work done on the wallpaper removal I am considering saving up and putting the job off so that I can let Lee take care of painting the ceiling and walls as well. Lee is a true professional and I consider myself lucky to have had him work in my home.

Lee was originally just going to remove the wallpaper and do some patching so that I could paint. But he helped me decide to also remove the popcorn ceiling, correct the imperfections from that removal and prepare it for painting. After removing 3 layers of wallpaper on walls that had not been prepped, there was quite a bit of repair to be done, which he did expertly. He was also able to patch the wall in some areas where I thought new sheetrock would have to be installed and it looks like new! Because of the nature of his work, it did created an awful mess, but he had protected the floors and all surrounding areas so there was very little cleanup for me. Lee was courteous, friendly, punctual, and even worked on the weekend to complete the job. I would not hesitate to call on him for any future wall work in my house and would recommend him to anyone.

They did a great job. Just wish I had asked them to move out the fridge so they could paint behind it.
Description of Work: Meticulous Painting came when they said they would and did a great job of painting my large family room and eat-in kitchen. There was a lot of "cutting -in" and they did a wonderful job. Would use them again. I do wish they had moved out the fridge and painted behind it as well. I should have thought of it while there where here.
