It's hard to rate each part of the overall ratings with a letter grade above (price, quality, responsiveness, etc)--easier to explain my experience and let you be the judge. He asked to change the date a couple of times, said he'd fallen and hurt his back. The day he was to come he said he'd be there at 9 but called from a hardware store in Raleigh (I live in Chapel Hill) and said he needed to pick up some things so he didn't get my house until 10 then told me when he'd need to leave to get to another job. He said he'd been swamped with work since his deal on Angie's list. The price was as stated but I didn't realize that didn't include woodwork so I will have to do that (lesson learned: be sure to get the details of what the job does/doesn't cover). It was a small bathroom. He was a big talker, friendly, etc. The quality of the work he did do was good, maybe excellent.
Description of Work: He painted the walls only---in my small bathroom---no woodwork.

Mr. Withrow called to let me know when he would be arriving. He came in quickly and worked efficiently. He spent a lot of time taping so that when he painted the edges were clean and protected.t. He was efficient, cordial, professional and totally unobtrusive. I was amazed at how quickly he finished a perfect job.
Description of Work: One reason I bought this special is because I had an old border in my bathroom that I wanted removed. Lee removed the border, patched, smoothed the surface so that when he painted one would never have known there had ever been a border. He also painted a bedroom. The results were perfect! Whether I get a "special" or not, Meticulous Painting will be my non-disputed painter in the future.

First I was told they were so busy that I could not schedule for over a month; after a date had been set, owner called and moved our appointment up several weeks. He tried to act like I had forgotten the date. Unprofessional. I was perfectly willing to have the date moved up. That was a plus! But for him to act like it was my mistake was strange considering his iiniital nsistence that he was too busy to fit me in. Moving along, I felt I had to point out many unacceptable items. However, all items were eventually fixed to my satisfaction. Owner and his worker were friendly and amenable. The job took twice as long as they projected (six days rather than three.) This did not cause us any problems; however, if you are on a time crunch, you should ask for a realistic worst-case time estimate.
Description of Work: Purchased an Angie's Deal that covered the wallpaper removal. Added services ($1,700) of painting, drywall repair, taking "popcorn" off ceiling, cabinet repair and painting.

I am disappointed that the customer did not have a better experience and I deeply regret that I failed to live up to her expectations. I apologize for giving her the impression that I was somehow laying blame on her for changes in scheduling. I never meant to imply or insinuate that scheduling issues/changes are the fault of the customer and, again, I am very sorry that she felt that way. I also regret that the job took longer than expected but I do take solace in the fact that any perceived imperfections were corrected to the customer’s satisfaction. My primary goal as a small, independent operator is to convey a sense of appreciation to my customers and to provide the most cost effective, professional service possible. I strive for excellence and I apologize for not meeting the customer’s expectations in this circumstance.

It went very well. Lee called to schedule the appt. It had to be rescheduled but Lee was very good about following through and promptly rescheduling our appt. He showed up on time and did what I had initially contracted him to do (via the Angie's List Deal that I purchased); I asked if he could also paint the room. He was very prompt for the subsequent painting appt and thoroughly completed the job. My husband and I were very happy with the results and will be working with him to do some additional wallpaper removal and painting.

He called me as soon as my name showed up on the specials list. Even early on, he was pretty. Booked but does a great job of making you feel like you are his one and only client. He came out on a Sunday after I came home from church to talk about what I wanted to do.he was very knowledgeable about whether we had to remove the wallpaper, but he could tell it was on there.to stay and ended up painting over it. My dining room looks like something out oh a house magazine. Ocean greenly/blue above the chair rail an chocolate (matching the front door)under the site rail molding. Then, he came Back the next day on sunday and painted my very large kitchen with five doors in it and two windows. He painted a backsplash that wraps almost around the entire room a patters cay. The wall is Martha Stewart's sterling. He finished with two coats just as he planned and helped put bach heavy pieces. Then he completely cleaned up and went out the door. So nice and such a gentleman. Also very knowledgeable about light at different times of the day and the effects of each on color. I would recommend him and call him again. I also would never feel uncomfortable about having him in when my family may not be home, he is just a very nice, decent man.
Description of Work: Mr. Withrow came out to give us an estimate on other rooms to be painted now or in the future. I was please to meet with him. I could sense that he had a great response to the special Angie's List was running for him but he was very organized and had us in his schedule at just the perfect time. He was great about helping me come up with new ways to use color and be able to blend different colors in to our very open floor plan of our house. I have always been afraid to use anything but bone white or shell white. It was pretty boring. Any way, Mr. Withrow could hang up his shingle as an interiors man because he has not only great ideas, but all the necessary resources to bring a plan to fruition. I cannot wait to save more money and call him Bach to paint some more for us!

The workmanship of his painting was very good. BUT... I had gone around and removed all wall plate covers, patched and sanded all cracks, and removed all wall hangings along with moving all furniture away from walls. When I asked how much he would charge to paint another room that was smaller in size that I had prepped, I was surprised at the cost, Twice as much as the original room! Since I had the room ready, I told him to go ahead and paint it. The very next day he ran a special form "Angie's list" that was 3 rooms for less than what I paid for 2 rooms. And I'm not sure how many people would go to the trouble that I had gone through to make his "life easier" and not get some kind of deal. In my opinion, not a good business move on his part!

Wow. As the name implies, Lee was "meticulous!" Taking it from the top... Lee reached out to me literally minutes after I purchased the coupon. In fact the biggest delay in the project was me - I couldn't decide on the paint. He stayed in touch with me over the ensuing weeks and once I was ready to commit, he was there the next week on the day I requested. He made me feel like a priority to his business which I certainly appreciated. Then...the job. When he first arrived, I knew I made the correct choice. He was courteous and knowledgeable and took great care with our house - laying down plastic and other cover materials over the areas he traversed before getting started. His prep work (at risk of sounding redundant) was also meticulous. He spent a great deal of time sanding, repairing, dismantling, and other requisite prep work that I didn't even consider. The proof was in the pudding. Not a flaw. Just a great paint job from a great professional.
Description of Work: This was an Angie's List coupon good for one painted room for $99. We chose our master bath.

I purchased one of Meticulous Painting and Drywall "Angie's List Big Deals" for $99.00 and contacted them for an appointment. They said they were swamped and gave me a date two month out. They also said that I had to prep the room by removing switch plates and hardware. While this was odd, it wasn't a problem. However, the day before my scheduled appointment, they still hadn't contacted me as to what time they would arrive, so I called them. That's when the lies started: He told me that I must have been in error on the date. Then he called back and said that he had 2 appointments on the same date and that I'd have to cancel. I said it was urgent that I get it done, but he said the other man's schedule was very tight and I had to rebook (so much for my importance with him). Do give him credit, he did try and schedule on the weekend, only minutes after I said I needed it done by the weekend because I had company then. Clearly he wasn't listening to me. Then he began to blame Angie's list for booking too many appointments so close together. I reminded him that Angie's List didn't book anything - he did that all by himself - and that if he couldn't handle all the work, he shouldn't have put in a "Big Deal." Then he started complaining that he was "a one man operations" and just couldn't handle all of the requests coming in... In the long run, I just got tired of his stories. Everyone was to blame except him, my schedule wasn't as important as the other man's, and now I find out that he's not a one-man operation either. What a liar. I'd stay away from this operation.
Description of Work: He never got to performing anything because I got so tired of his transparent excuses and lies that I cancelled the contract with Angie's List.

Overall, this was a very frustrating and costly experience. I bought Meticulous Painting's Big Deal to have one room painted for $99. I called Mr. Withrow (the owner and painter) and we discussed the room to be painted and made an appointment. Mr. Withrow arrived late but we did discuss the room to be painted. I also contracted with Mr. Withrow to paint several other rooms in my home and we agreed on a price. As he was leaving during this initial meeting, Mr. Withrow mentioned he was looking for other work and I asked him to provide me with his price to powerwash a section of my backyard fence, and to also seal the entire fence. I agreed to purchase the sealer which he said would cost approximately $50-$60. Mr. Withrow gave me his price for powerwashing and staining the fence. I had forgotten to include the deck so I asked him to add the cost of washing and staining the deck. He added that cost and we agreed on a price. Note: my backyard fence was completed in two sections. One section was completed in June 2011 and the other section completed in early April 2012. The fence is made of cedar. The section completed in June 2011 was dirty and that was the section that needed washing. I did not need the new section of the fence washed. The deck needed to be washed and stained since it had not been washed in several years and was the medium gray of aged pine. Due to my concern about getting the fence sealed in a timely manner which was discussed with Mr. Withrow, he agreed to finish the fence first and then paint the room on the interior. We made an appointment in the beginning of May for Mr. Withrow to powerwash the fence and deck. He stated he would need to come back a few days after that to put on the sealer/stain because the fence and deck needed to dry. I agreed. A day or two before his appointment to come powerwash the deck and fence, Mr. Withrow stated that a friend had his powerwasher and he would need to get it. The morning Mr. Withrow was scheduled to arrive, I called when it was an hour or more past the time when he was supposed to arrive. He stated he was waiting for his friend to bring the power washer to him. Eventually, Mr. Withrow arrived approximately three hours late. Mr. Withrow was unable to finish powerwashing the deck and fence so he arranged to come back the next morning at 8am. He arrived at 11am. He was unable to finish the powerwashing that day so arranged to come back again. He said he would be back at 8am but arrived around 10am. He finished washing the deck and fence that day. Since he was unable to wash the fence to have it look like the newer section, it was determined that I would need to put a stain/sealer on the fence in order to get both sections to look similar. Therefore, the cost of the sealer/stain was not going to be $50-$60 as originally quoted but will cost approximately $300. At this point, Mr. Withrow asked me to pay half of the agreed-upon price since he needed the money to purchase a sprayer to use on the fence. According to Mr. Withrow, someone borrowed his sprayer and never returned it so he needed money in order to purchase another one. He was unwilling to use a paint brush or roller to finish the job because he felt it would take too long. I went ahead and paid him half so he could purchase a sprayer. In the meantime, we made an appointment on May 8th for Mr. Withrow to come paint the one room that was originally purchased as a Big Deal. He arrived late but did bring someone with him to help him paint the room. The work they did was very good and I have no complaints about the room that was painted. It was after the room was painted that Mr. Withrow first brought up the subject of wanting to change the price he quoted to finish the deck and fence. He said he needed 'a month of Sundays' in order to save up enough money for the sprayer he needed for the fence. I told him I thought the money I gave him after the fence and deck was washed was supposed to enable him to purchase a sprayer. He said that it wasn't, and that he would have to pay the man that came with him to paint my room the entire amount he had charged ($99 Big List deal), so he still did not have enough to buy a sprayer. I felt sorry for him so I gave him an additional $100 to help him purchase a sprayer. [Yes, I know... I should not have paid until the job was completed]. Mr. Withrow and I exchanged over 24 phone calls according to the call log on my phone. Mr. Withrow continued to pressure me to agree to increase the amount I was willing to pay, and wanted to paint the rest of the rooms in the house before finishing the fence and deck. As it turned out, I had pneumonia the day Mr. Withrow painted the room in my house, so I was unwilling to be exposed to a lot of paint fumes due to my asthma and compromised breathing. I was also beginning to feel uneasy about Mr. Withrow finishing the fence and deck work since he had been paid most of what he quoted. Since May 8th, Mr. Withrow has not been back to finish the deck or fence, or to do any other work at my home. We made two appointments to have him come finish the work but due to the weather, it was mutually agreed that we would need to reschedule. Mr. Withrow said he was very busy with other work and it was difficult for me to find times when he was available. On June 19th, I spoke with Mr. Withrow again about coming back to finish the fence and deck. We agreed to his coming on Saturday, June 23rd. At this point, Mr. Withrow again tried to get me to agree to pay him more for finishing the fence and deck. He felt like the job was worth more than what he originally quoted. After several discussions like this in the past, I'm afraid I lost my patience. I told Mr. Withrow that it was not my fault that he underquoted a job, and that he needed to finish the job he agreed to do and at the price he agreed to do it. Mr. Withrow said that spraying the deck and fence with a stain/sealer would take significantly more labor than spraying it with a clear sealer, and therefore I should pay him extra to spray a stain/sealer instead of a clear sealer. My mother and I had gone out to the deck about three weeks ago and stained the top half of the deck in about an hour using rollers and paint brushes. I wanted to see if I liked the color of the stain/sealer (which I did). Therefore, during this phone call on June 19th, I told Mr. Withrow I was not willing to pay more because he felt it would take a lot longer to spray the fence and deck. He persisted in asking for more money. It was at this point that I lost my patience and just hung up the phone. I have not spoken with Mr. Withrow since then.
Description of Work: Worked agreed upon: Paint one interior room, powerwash the deck and half the backyard fence. Seal the fence and the deck. Work done: Painted one interior room. Powerwashed the deck and half the backyard fence.

First I would like to respond that this is not an a-typical report I receive from my Angie's List customers as you can see from my "A" reports. This is the first time I put out an Angie's List Big Deal and I'm very happy to say I provide a great price to all the members and had a great time being of service to them. I had a great response from the Big Deal promotion and as a result I some scheduleing problems. I deeply regret any miscommunications with Mrs Thompson weather it was with the priceing or the scope of work that kept changing. I take all my reviews very seriously and the the satisfation of all my customers is of the utmost improtance to me. I am deeply sorry that my efforts satisfy this client did not meet her expectations. I strongly urge members to please see all of my other Big Deal reports as they are all A's and very satisfied with the quality and the pricieing of my work.

Lee was truly amazing. "Meticulous" is the appropriate name for his company. I pointed out a crack in the wall. First he said he could fill it. On closer inspection filling the hole would not have solved the problem. Lee replaced the drywall instead. When he was finished painting, you could not tell that he had done so. The painting of the room was done (here is that word again) meticulously. The room looks beautiful. Lee called two days later to be sure that we were satisfied with the work. We were.
Description of Work: I purchased an Angie's List special deal to have one room painted. Lee showed up on time. He actually did more work than I paid for. He painted our bedroom, replaced a broken piece of drywall, and painted the closet and bathroom doors and the trim. The only thing I had paid for was painting the walls of the room.

Although the work took longer than Lee estimated, he completed the job in a timely manner with good humor and attention to detail. He is a kind and honest person and tradesman.
Description of Work: Lee, the owner, promptly called us after we purchased a $99 deal for interior painting. We asked him to also quote 3 additional rooms we needed painted in preparation for marketing our house. His price quotes were reasonable so we agreed to hire him to paint our kitchen, master bath/dressing room and additional full bath. The master bath required significant skimming of walls prior to painting.

Lee arrived on time and created a great rapport with me. We had an opportunity to get to know one another and then he began his work. Cutting in when painting is always the portion of the job that I dislike the most but he made it seem so simple. His hard work made my bonus room go from a pale room to one with character and life.

Lee lives up to the company name as meticulous painting. He took extra care caulking around the trim and preparing the walls. We had to reschedule because he was overbooked due to the $99 special but he totally made up for it in performance. I would use him again and recommend him to others.
Our kitchen had been wallpapered for more than 30 years. This meant that numerous flaws in the walls were well hidden from view. We decided this last year that it was time to pull the paper down and update the room by painting the walls. My daughter and I stripped the wallpaper and sanded walls, but we ran out of time to paint and did not have the expertise to finish preparing the walls. So I contacted Meticulous Painting. Lee Withrow, the owner, responded to my email immediately. I asked that he try to do the jobs within in the next two weeks. He had several jobs that he was juggling at the time, so he got started a day later than we had planned. When he examined the walls carefully, he realized that they were going to need some serious attention. To help with this, he called in a colleague who is a drywall expert. Together, they totally rebuilt corners around cabinets, fixed flaws in the walls, recaulked wherever necessary, did a skim coat on the walls, and sanded them. Then they applied two coats of a primer/paint on the kitchen walls and a hallway leading into the utility room. The result is walls that look completely new and the finish paint is beautiful. Because they were managing several jobs, they worked from Friday through Sunday. They carefully covered everything with plastic and were good about cleaning up. Lee is a really nice guy who takes his time to get it right.
Description of Work: Repaired, skim coated, sanded and painted kitchen walls that had been wallpapered. Also painted a small hallway.

I responded to a $99 special for interior painting of a townhome I just purchased and was called by Lee within a day or two after purchasing the special. I explained that I wanted what was probably going to be more than the 300 sf covered in the special and wanted a quote for the work. He met me at my townhome within a week, gave me a very fair quote on the work and then he and Don performed the work within two days of giving the quote. They completed the work in one day, the painting was, in fact, "meticulous"!! I am very pleased with the job they did and will definitely recommend them to friends as well as use their services again myself.

We tried to do the job ourselves, but it wasn't turning out like we wanted. They came in with the crew and removed the problem areas, scraped the walls down to the studs and added a skim coat of plaster on the old walls. They did all of the installation of new drywall, taping and mudding, and finish work, too. They used a special primer before painting, because the house is old and has previous coats of lead paint on the walls. The primer seals that lead paint, so that it's safe. They then painted over top and did an excellent job. The house was built in the 1930's, but after they were done, it looked like something modern with new walls.
Description of Work: They helped us with the home that I had in NC. When we needed to renovate our home here in Philadelphia, we called them and they came up to help us.
