We received an estimate on 6/25/15 from Outer Banks Remodeling to replace our kitchen island cabinets in our secondary house in Kill Devil Hills, NC. In early July, we sent a check in to them for half of the estimate amount. On July 13th, I received an email that said I would be told when the cabinets came in. On 9/1/15, I reached out to them via email "Hi Mike. I was wondering if the island replacement came in and when you wanted to begin the work." I got no response. On 10/1/16, I again reached out to them: " Mike/Kevin, I haven't heard anything back from you about the kitchen island replacement. Do you have any time we can schedule this? We live out of town so I will need to schedule a time to be down there. We would just like to get something on the schedule. After hearing nothing from them, I decided to try to call them. I did make contact and we mutually agreed that they would schedule me for 12/15/15. I made another call in November to verify the 12/15 date and was angrily asked why I was calling because we were already on the schedule for the 15th of December. I felt that I had to call because I never heard anything from them (except when it was time to collect money or give an estimate). It has been my experience that the customer should be the recipient of work scheduling calls and not the initiator. However, I became increasingly concerned after paying approximately $1,500 and not getting any acknowledgement whatsoever. In accordance with our agreement, I drove down there from Northern Virginia (approx. 600 mi. round trip) on 12/14 to be there specifically for this work. On the morning of 12/15, I called their number and spoke with Kevin M. Jones/Owner. He told me that he would touch base with Mike and assured me that I was on the schedule for today. At 2:30PM, after hearing nothing, I attempted to contact them and had to leave a message at the main number. I called Mike White's cell number and when it came time to leave a message after no answer, it would not allow me because the mailbox was full. I continued to try to contact them throughout the remainder of the afternoon and finally Mike White ( aka the owner) picked up, identified himself and he abruptly hung up after I identified myself. This occurred several more times during the afternoon and evening where my calls were ignored or disconnected. I called the main number again and left a message requesting a refund of the money I paid in deposit. Later that evening, I received the following email from Kevin Jones: "We're very sorry for the delay and scheduling error which resulted in our missing the appointment today. At this point we will be returning your deposit per your request. Once again we apologize." I responded to this email, thanked him for responding and provided him our address to refund the deposit. On December 21st, I sent an email asking when we could expect to receive our deposit refunded. My follow-up emails and calls continue to be ignored.
Description of Work: Gave us an estimate for the kitchen remodeling work, took our deposit, didn't show up and stopped talking to us.

I ordered the kitchen island as stated in the contract, however there was a miscommunication in the scheduling. I have since returned their deposit. I still have the cabinets that I ordered.

Description of Work: Came to house twice to measure, and communicated fairly well, until it came time to make some changes to the contract that were omitted. Never returned my emails or phone messages, once we were ready to move forward. Had deposit check written out, but communication was non-existent. I asked for a lien waiver, which he initially agreed upon, but once I reminded him of it not being in the contract, I received no communication. Totally unreliable, and wouldn't use him to build a dog house.

I met with this customer several times and each time something required a change in the contract to the point that it just wasn't profitable for us. I was very friendly and courteous however.

Itcan't say enough good things about Outer Banks Remodeling, we have had such bad experiences with hiring people on the outer banks, I have to say we where leary about hiring, but They did exactly what they said they would, they where so professional, they finished in a timely manner, cleaned all there mess up, did exactly what they said they where going to - we could call Mike with any questions - he actually answered when we called, it was great. We had our deck completely tore down and put back up and had a shed built in the back yard. Great Company I would definatly hire again, if the need presented it self..
Description of Work: Tore Down decks & stairs and rebuilt everything and put up a shed.
