First and foremost, Matt Yager and Widescreen TV is THE BEST! This is the second time we have used Widescreen TV in the past year. I moved from Michigan to Charlotte (Uptown)in May of 2015 and used Matt Yager and Widescreen TV to install a 70" TV and soundbar system at our Uptown apartment. I had called Matt and told him what I was thinking and he gave me some suggestions on TV's and sound system, etc and I ended up not only using him to do all the work then, but I also purchased the equipment from him. (All my stuff was being used by my wife and kids in Michigan home until we sold it and they moved down Full-Time in Sept) So when our new home was built, it was a no brainer on who I was calling to help me deck out the new place. I contacted Matt about a month before our anticipated closing to go over what I was thinking for the new house. My original plan to use a combination of items from the apartment, my old home and new purchased equipment since we sold a number of my electronic items and gave some to our college daughters before my wife moved to Charlotte. I had 3 areas I wanted Matt's help on; the Great Room, the media room and our covered patio area. We ended up using the 70" TV and sound system previously purchased in the media room and using our 55" Samsung TV from our old home in the Great room above the fireplace and purchasing a new 55" Samsung TV and soundbar for the covered patio. Additionally, my electronic equipment was all being installed in media closets downstairs and upstairs (Wife hates looking at the components and wires) so Matt recommended some Logitech Harmony Elite remotes that work through the doors as well. Lastly, we ended up buying a new Onkyo receiver and Jamo sub-woofer through Matt. Matt also ran wiring from the downstairs receiver/media closet outside around our brick paver patio to connect my previously purchased Bose in-ground outdoor speakers. Matt and team started the day by removing and transporting the 70" TV and soundbar as well as our existing 55" Samsung Plasma screen from our apartment. They then arrived at our new home and began to mount the 3 TV's and hook-up the TVs to the sound systems and ATT Uverse boxes. The team got everything connected and programmed the remotes and explained the set-ups they programmed and all. They were clean and left no trace of ever being in our home. Matt and Widescreen TV are who you need to use for all your home theatre needs! Not only is Matt knowledgeable about the latest technologies he is a really good person to deal with. He makes it easy! OVERALL: THEY RETURNED TELEVISION WITH COLOR WHEEL MISSING. TV IS NOT FIXED, WORSE THAN ITS ORIGINAL CONDITION. Original problem was that the TV kept cutting itself off and lights flashing on front power button, no other issues. Widescreen TV Inc. said lamp wasn't the problem when I brought it to them, then they offered to pick up TV and check it out. (when they came I offered to use original packing box for delivery, Widescreen TV Inc. Declined). Widescreen?s solution for original problem - replace main DM Board. (I specifically asked if the ?board? wasn't the problem would I have to pay for it, Widescreen answered no) Widescreen delivered TV evening of December16th and on 17th it had additional problems - screen went black, remote and buttons on tv would not work, had to unplug the unit from outlet to turn it off , after 30 minutes plugged back in and tv turned itself on ? still no buttons working. Picture changed from full color to red and black only. Buttons and remote again would not work, unplugged again. Called Widescreen on am of 18th and they said they would come back to get it. Widescreen picked tv up again Dec 20th and said it was faulty refurbished main dm board. Several days later they said replacement board didn't fix the problem so they suggested next step was to replace color wheel at no additional charge. Color wheel replacement didn't fix problem. Widescreen said next step was to replace DM module (not sure if this was done). Several days later when I called to check on TV, Widescreen TV suggested TV could not be fixed ? they were ?pulling the plug?. I asked for TV and money back. Widescreen TV would not give me my TV and money. Offered to refund money minus delivery but could not give tv back. They said my original color wheel was cracked and they threw it away so they couldn't return the tv with a color wheel in it. (This was the first mention of color wheel being cracked). Then when I was dissatisfied they offered to give me a refurbished comparable tv for the money I already paid. I asked to have a second opinion on my TV, Widescreen TV reluctantly agreed as long as they were able to get thier parts back if the tv could not be repaired by the other shop. These arrangements were made. I again asked for the refund and Widescreen TV said no. They wanted to hold my money until other repair shop fixed tv, we went back and forth on this and eventually he hung up the phone on me. Two hours later, Widescreen TV called and said they were not going to deliver the tv to the other repair shop as previously agreed upon, but instead were bringing my tv and a refund check to my house at 4pm and if I was not there, they were leaving it. The tv would have my original main dm board but would not have the color wheel. (I was getting my tv with a part missing). I explained that they could not do this but Shawn said he was done with my tv and he was bringing it to me with the missing part.

Response from Widescreen TV Specialist
This is in response to the member’s complaint. It was suggested to him in the very first conversation about his tv that the Samsung HL-P5063WX/XAA was a problematic unit. He was told that he could have other problems with the tv in the future. FACT! We suggested he buy a new TV. Fact! Mr. Stephens wanted us to try to fix it anyway. We agreed to pick up the unit diagnose and return it for only $50. Our technician has over 35 years of experience in electronics beginning in the Navy. He has been fixing televisions for over 30 years. After his diagnoses, he determined that the Digital Module board was bad. We ordered a refurbished board, installed it and then ran it for hours in our shop. That fixed the problem. Only after returning the unit to the customer’s house did another problem arise. Even the customer admitted that the day after we returned it on December 17th that the unit had “additional problems” that were different from the original. We did pick the unit up again and agreed to figure out what happened. Problem has changed so we warrantied the board with our vendor. Installed the replacement and the problem did not change from the second issue. Our technician then checked the color wheel only to find out that it had a crack in it. We replaced the color wheel and the unit played for 5 hours that day. The old one was thrown out in the trash that day. The next day the unit would not come on again. Our tech then determined that the Digital Main Driver had to be faulty as well. At this point it made no sense in putting good money into bad. When we notified the customer and offered a newer flat panel tv in place of it, he declined. He insisted he get a second opinion and wanted his money back – all of it! I then called one of our competitors and spoke with them about the unit. He agreed with our attempts step by step. I then called the member and offered to take it to another repair shop in Charlotte, but he wanted us to take it to a shop in Troutman, NC nearly an hour away. After repeated demands from the customer, we felt it was best if we returned the unit back to the customer without our parts and let him decide what to do with a problematic HL-P5063WX/XAA. He was given a full refund minus the $50 estimate and pick-up and delivery fee. It was not our intent to create an issue with him. Instead, he wants “ A full refund plus the cost to replace the missing color wheel and further delivery fees to the repair shop of my choosing to have the tv fixed. Also repair cost of any identifiable damage caused by Widescreen TV Inc. (ie if anything other than issue of tv turning itself off is wrong they need to pay for it or a new 50" replacement tv of our choice.) Seriously? I think it would be fair to have another shop diagnose the unit at his cost and then let’s determine if Wide Screen TV is to blame. Fair enough! Thank you for your time Angie’s list.
