After getting some estimates by concrete companies to redo some of the carport, Tony was contacted to do something about filling in the hole. He did so by bringing in some gravel and had his crew fill the hole just a bit above the concrete line incase there was washout from weather. If this was done the day he finished the basement work as part of the service, he would have got an A. NOTE: this review was updated for clarification and after the crew came into fix the work.
Description of Work: Tony came in to estimate a job to help stabilize and waterproof the front wall of the basement. This included having to dig up a portion of our carport, dig a 3 foot hole, create a concrete block, and bolt it through the basement wall. There was a problem with the carport busted up as he left a hole that was not refilled with anything. This is where the review goes bad.

Response from Soggy Bottom Waterproofing
(Member name removed) is correct we didnt put concrete back in the area we removed. But he failed to mention the area we removed was already broken from the middle of the carport to about 12 inchs from the drivway. This had dropped almost 2 inches and was putting enough pressure that it cracked the inside wall in the basement and was pushing the wall to the inside. The dirt under the carport had washed out to around 18 inches deep under the floor. The rest of the floor needed to be removed so the carport could be repaired. He was aware of this and saw where the floor was washed out. When I quoted this job for him I didnt quote pouring a new carport but digging it out so we could pour a concrete block to be able to pull the wall back in place. This was bad enough that he told me he nor his wife would put their car on it for fear of it caving in. I did everything I said I would do. He paid for the work and on 4-26-14 I get this review. If you look at the other 76 reviews I have you will see that we do what we say we will do and have had no previous problems. Even though it was not part of our original agreement or estimate, I have made the offer to fill the area with rocks for him.

These guys are great! Prompt, professional, courteous, and very thoughtful-- I have a toddler and they even thought to ask about his nap schedule so that they could complete the loudest work beforehand. Amazing! They finished the work in the amount of time they said they would at the agreed upon cost. Very highly recommend them!

Very pleased with the work completed by Tony and Chris. Both very professional, worked very hard and would take time to tell and show me what they were doing. The end price was the same as the estimate also. Can't say good enough about the company and I would highly recommend them to anyone.

We were looking for a cost to deal with moisture issues in the crawlspace of a home we were purchasing. Because time was of the essence (we were in the due diligence period) we needed someone fast. We were very pleased with the response time of Soggy Bottom Waterproofing. They inspected the home, told us the problems and gave us possible solutions, as well as costs. In the end we didn't buy the home, and therefore we didn't need Soggy Bottom Waterproofing to do the work. However we would not hesitate to use them in the future should the need arise.

Tony came out and gave an inspection , was reasonably priced , patient , and answered all my questions. Crew was professional and cleaned up after the job. After inspection we found some areas needing more seal and Tony personally completed the follow-up. I recommend him highly. Fixed all moisture and humidity crawlspace problems we had. Even after several storms and downpours it remains bone dry. On the e-z breeze system time will tell but the air quality is much better with it. I also ended up putting in a dehumidifier in the space that drains to the sump so with both systems it stays well circulated with fresh air , dry , and low humidity.

They began the work on 2/5/14 and finished on 2/7/14 for the exact amount of the estimate. All of the installers that came worked very hard and were very professional. They were very meticulous in cleaning up all areas in which they worked. They also explained exactly what they going to do and how they would be doing it. They were an excellent group and I wouldn't hesitate at all in using them again.
Description of Work: For $49 Angie Special, the provider came out and examined my basement & crawl space. He then made a recommendation on what should be done to control the moisture problem. He emailed me an estimate that night and I accepted. They installed a French Drain around the perimeter of the crawl space, installed/wired 2 sump pumps and laid down an new vapor barrier. They also installed two vent wells and secured 2 existing wells.

I was experiencing some moisture issues in my garage slab after the recent heavy rains. I contacted two highly rated waterproofing companies off angle's list to take a look at the problem and provide estimates. One (who will remain unnamed) wanted to take a very aggressive approach to fixing the issue (inside French drain with demolition to my finished basement) with a price tag of $5k - even doubted I had an exterior french drain although I had paperwork and piping that suggested so. Chris (with Soggy Bottom) came out and after looking over my issues and talking in depth with me felt like the exterior french drain was not draining properly - allowing the water to back up near the foundation. He suggested a much more reasonable approach to dig and find the end of the exterior drain to make sure it was being carried away from the house and if, not, pipe it to the end of my yard - estimate $810. Based on the two estimates and discussions, I decided to go with Soggy Bottom - Tony was very responsive regarding the quote and scheduling. After the rains subsided, his crew came out and found the original subcontractor when the house was built had dead ended the french drain outlet right next to the foundation (unbelievable!) and covered it with dirt. Once the drain was cleared, water that had backed up flowed freely for over an hour. They then ran a trench from the drain under my sidewalk out to the end of the yard. A drainage pipe was laid that connected the french drain outlet and a nearby downspout. During the course of the work, I decided also to have them put in a basin to catch another nearby downspout. The work was done in about 6 hours and the final cost was around $1000 since I had them add the extra drain box. All in all, they were very professional and were always answering my questions completely. They cleaned up thoroughly after the job and kept apologizing for not being able to make it cleaner - all of the rains had made the ground very wet but I was pleased with the cleanup. There have not been heavy rains since then installation, but it performed well after a light rain, so I am optimistic my issues have been solved. I was very impressed with Soggy Bottom and would highly recommend them for future work.

Mr. Ferguson was truly a lovable and genuine contractor to meet. He answered all my questions promptly without hesitation. He examined my basement completely. He evaluated the drainage conditions outside the dwelling. The overall assessment revealed my basement was in good condition, considering the age of my home. If for any reasons I encounter problems in the near future, he would be my #1 contractor to contact. THANKS ANGIE

Tony Ferguson was prompt, courteous, and willing to give options to us. He came as soon as the material arrived and finished up in two days. He and his men were efficient and skilled. He was extremely willing to go over each step of the process as he worked and make any changes we wanted. His price was very reasonable considering the work he did. My basement was awful and flooded whenever it rained. After the rainstorm on Saturday, the ground wicked some water into basement, the sump pump kicked in automatically and the basement never flooded. Additionally the dehumidifier kicked in automatically also so the basement is dry now. I can't say enough good things about this company and recommend it without reservations to anyone who has basement issues. It's nice to have peace of mind about this previous problem. He gave us good advice about drainage on our property and we may employ him to assist us with this in the future.

We are finishing our basement, and when there was a large amount of rain recently, we noticed water coming in through a wall in the newly finished basement. After looking around, we decided to use Tony to do the waterproofing. He was quick to respond to all of my messages, and getting appointments set up for an estimate and completion of the actual work was easy. They completed the work in 2 days, exactly as planned (and for the exact amount of the estimate), and cleaned up the job site before leaving. The work looks great, and hopefully we won't have any more problems with water in the area. I will update this review if needed, but for now everything looks great.

Installed 3 catch basins; installed 20 foot French drain; installed drain in carport; connected 2 gutters to new drains emptying in the front yard; broke an asphalt driveway to install one of the drains; sowed grass seed; and, fogged entire crawl space for mold spores. | |Motivation for getting this work done is four to six deluges that occur each year that cause much pooling in the back yard and flooding of our carport. It has been a success since we haven't had a deluge since the work was completed. And with the few hard rains since completion there has been no pooling or flooding, or any visible signs of water runoff. | |Tony and Chris are very conscientious and professional, polite and friendly, and work well together. They answered my questions and weren't bothered when I observed them working. When an existing drain couldn't be used as planned they quickly made an adjustment. Their work trailer new at the time was well organized and no time was lost acquiring and searching for parts. The quality of their work was very good and when they left debris was thoroughly cleaned up and the work site was neat.

It went fine. They came in the morning and had to dig the channel in the crawl space and then install the sump pump. I have my crawl space encapsulated so they had to deal with the 20 mil vinyl and they had no problems and everything was re-installed without a problem. Very happy with their work.

After accepting their quote, which I found very reasonable, Soggy Bottom Waterproofing arrived in about two weeks. They brought a trench digger and all the parts and supplies they needed to do the job. Not really sure how this project would look I just stayed out of the way. They dug the trench from the back to the front yard, installed 3 - 20" round catch basins at the lowest points in the back yard. The three catch basins were 15" deep and the drainage pipe was sloped to the front yard and down to the road. They then covered the pipe with dirt, threw grass seed down and placed straw on top of the seed. I am thrilled with the way it looks and it works great. It only took them a few hours, I figured it would have taken a couple of days, but they knew exactly what they were doing and finished up. I am so thankful I did not have someone else do this work because I didn't really like the idea, as others suggested, of a french drain (with gravel in the yard to mow around) or the idea of a truck load of dirt dumped in the back yard ( muddy and messy). Soggy Bottom Waterproofing is very professional and courteous.
Description of Work: Have had an on going problem with drainage in our back yard for several months and recently got worse. I received three different solutions by three different companies. Not really knowing what to do I searched Angie's List and kept coming back to Soggy Bottom Waterproofing and decided to give them a call. Tony made the trip from Kernersville to Asheboro and his solution was to place an underground drainage system from the back yard to the front. The drainage system would use a deep catch basin to received the water in the back and drain to the front. No one had offered that idea before and I liked it.
