Pilot Floor Covering

WE recently moved into the area from an expensive suburban community in Ohio. We had gotten LVP and carpet for a bigger area in a previous house about 6 months ago so we were aware of how much we should be spending. Pilot was way over the quotes in OHIO and including here. We did check in Ohio American floor source to see if there was some misunderstanding by showing them the quote and they were surprised too. They charged for shipping and some extra costs that seemed to be extreme when comparing other businesses but majority was also in the bulk of the quote. When we spoke to them, and we were told to talk to the owner but he never did call us back. It was disappointing that they could be extremely excessively within a few thousand dollars over with less sq. footage, and less labor costs because we did not take out old wood floors but putting over wood floors. However, the employees were very nice and helpful. It is free commerce so it is their right to charge that but also good to shop around.

Had a scheduled time for them to come and measure. Didn't show. Received a call 1 hour later stating he was in another town, and had the date confused. He finally showed up. Had to have the installers back to fix ceramic in one of the bathrooms, as the grout lines were very uneven. Grout lines where backsplash in kitchen meets granite cracked after a few months. Talked to an employee in person who stated he would call me with a time to come and repair. Called and left several messages and never received a call back. This company is higher than competitiors, however with them being in the community for many years, and standing behind their work, you can expect to pay more. This company has an excellent repuatation in a very small town in North Carolina. It seems their customer service has suffered in the past couple of years, as other members of my family have used them in the past and had excellent customer service.

They did an excellent job of installing the floor in three room, a foyer and closet. They had to move some furniture and remove four layers of flooring from the kitchen that had built up over the years so everything is level room to room.

Everything was done to MY Satisfaction from Removing Old product to New Installation.. I am Very Pleased with my Experience of Pilot Flooring, and I have one more room to have New flooring installed and Pilot will do it..

They do good work and if there are any issues they stand behind their work.

When Mr. Hicks, the rep. from Pilot Floor, came to my home I told him what I wanted. He began to suggest a wood look-alike product almost immediately and he told me to come to their showroom and have a look. I did go to their showroom and it was impressive. It is a beautiful showroom and very well laid out, which gave me a false sense that these people really did know their stuff. Mr. Hicks kept pushing the vinyl product, telling me that it was their best seller, would save me a ton of money and was a very fine product. Although I was prepared to spend a good amount of money on hardwood, he didn't seem interested in the profit. He was intent on my purchasing the vinyl. I thought that Mr. Hicks knew what he was saying and so I went with his suggestion. What a mistake. I have had the flooring for two years now and it is beginning to look very cheap. The transition pieces are thin and flimsy and coming up off of the floor. Some of the seams are separating. I went back to Pilot and spoke to Mr. Hicks about this problem and he pretended to listen but I was pretty sure that as soon as he heard that I wasn't buying new flooring, his eyes glassed over. I requested that someone come out and look at the problem. He told me that the installation people were too busy to come out until after the holidays. He did not offer to come out himself. He was very intent on my understanding what it would cost me if they did come out. I held my tongue and left the store. I will never use this business again, and will never recommend them to anyone. I was not looking for a refund but I thought that Pilot would at least stand behind a product they sell. Very poor customer service.

Design phase was a little weaker than expected but, cabinet quality and installation was good. I had a problem with a method used by the original installer and Tony came out and corrected the problem and worked with me until I was happy. What more can you ask?

Between all three businesses, they only have one person that can order or deal with cabinets. His name is Zollie. Called him on a Saturday and he already found the cabinets we had purchased from them prior. We just needed a few more. After that, trying to get in touch with him was impossible. He was always gone from the store, or on vacation. And, that was every week. Left a message on a Monday and 10 days later, still no call. All he had to do was call me so I could tell him to get the cabinets ordered. We have done a lot of business with them over the last 14 years, but will no longer. They replaced 2 rooms with carpet about 12 years ago, but left us the extra carpet. I'm not surprised that they haul off the extra carpet now. They definitely do not respect the customer anymore. Things have changed there since their personnel have changed over the years. I would run away as fast as possible. Other than that, you will be frustrated and spinning your wheels. We went elsewhere for cabinets. Will not give them a dime of mine ever again. FYI----This was at the King facility.

One worker was helpful but another worker was more pushing what he wanted to sell. There was a specific thing I was looking for. We made quite a trip to go over there and get samples that we'd bring home. We'd find what we'd like and they'd say that one was all out. It was more about them not helping us with exactly what we wanted as opposed to saying this is all we have and we can't help you. I'd get online and ask to see a sample, but they'd say they didn't carry it. I was trying to find a look to go blend in with the house and everything and it was just --- well, we wouldn't go back to them, because it was a very frustrating experience. He also measured the carpet that was to go on the steps wrong. They ended up ripping them up and we have more than one flight of steps. It just didn't go the way that I had experienced with carpet companies before. I just couldn't believe that someone would push, when we spent that kind of money, on selling me what they wanted me to have. Like he kept steering us to carpet that was marked down. He wasn't given us any credit on our own research that we had done. The showroom is beautiful. When I first walked in, I thought they really new what's happening with carpet. Something was just off with the whole experience. We look at it and really wish we hadn't done it. They had rushed us. I don't understand why they're trying to push you in a different area than what you're looking for. My son ended up helping them put it down. It just wasn't what I was used to.

We called Pilot Floor Covering because they did the flooring in the house. Upon investigation, of the cause of the leak was that another company (not Pilot) that had installed the shower door damaged the tile and grout. This led to the water leak and damage. Jerry (the owner) got personally involved to bring resolution to the situation. Pilot came in and did the demo, installed the new sub flooring, and reinstalled a new tile floor. The work was done in a timely manor and the finished product is great. The Pilot employee that came to the house to do the work was very professional and was very nice. He cleaned up after each day and kept a very clean work area. The owner of the company went out of his way to be very helpful. The timing of Pilot doing work at my house coincided with a very large office flooring job where I work. I recommended him to our procurement group at work to be one of the bidding companies. He won the bid and did a good job on that install as well.

They do an excellent job. Very professional and easy to work with and courteous. He has been working with us for the past 40 years.
