They came to the house and looked under. The plumber needed to go and retrieve a pump and get the water out before he could look further. I am a little confused by this because I don't have a basement and I don't think you can pump out mud. The cost to get the pump and get under the house was about $600, but at that point I had no choice! I needed water that night. After he diagnosed the problem he quoted me a price and did the work. My step dad asked about what they had done and what the cost was and he thought that was way too high.. Lesson learned. Don't take the first plumbers estimate, go to a hotel if necessary. I will not choose to use them again, I will wait and get another estimate first.
Description of Work: Diagnosed and replaced a small section of pipe and 1 valve.

Their prices were outrageous and I was not satisfied. They did reimburse me some of the amount back because their price was outrageous.
Description of Work: He flushed out the drain with a snake and flushed out the commode. He also tried to locate the place where the sewer line was.

In June 2014, I contacted our home warranty company because of a leak. They sent the service call to B K Plumbing. Chris from B K Plumbing came out to check out the leak we believed to be coming from our toilet. He removed the toilet, replaced the wax ring, reinstalled toilet. About 3o days later on 7/18/14, the leak returned and so did Chris. Chris told us, and wrote it on the receipt, that "Toilet flange has become un-level. Flange seems to have shifted, no longer allowing a seal to maintain. Need flooring contractor to repair floor for proper toilet install." Chris told me that the floor needed to be ripped up so we could secure the flange and support it since it had shifted. He never gave any indication that the plumbing repairs necessary to accompany the flooring repair, were not going to be covered by our home warranty company. Based on Chris' recommendation, we hired a contractor to repair the floor. The flooring contractor came out on 8/5/14 to rip up the floor. I requested B K Plumbing to send out the plumber on the day that the contractor would start so he could aid in the repair. B K Plumbing never returned my phone call. When I finally got them on the phone, they told me that a plumber would be coming out on 8/7/14 to take off the flange and install a pipe extension per the contractor's request. Kyle, a different plumber, came out almost 2 hours late on 8/7/14 and wrote on the receipt that "Flange is secure and NOT MOVING - it did not shift." Kyle then told me that Chris had left the company and could only go by what he saw. He said it was his professional opinion that the flange was secure and it wasn't possible that it had shifted. Kyle gave me an estimate of $980 to have the repairs done that we needed. I was floored. He said he couldn't be certain because the floor had already been ripped up, but that he didn't think the reason we had been given to have the floor ripped up was valid. Kyle said it was impossible for the flange to slip. I requested the owner of B K Plumbing, Brad, to call me on 8/8/14. He did call me, and told me that he stood by Chris' assessment of the situation and that Kyle was wrong - that the flange could in fact shift. He then said that he would see if he could make the repairs "easier on your wallet" however he never called me back as he said he would. In the mean time, we had another plumbing company come out. This plumber said that he was so certain that the flange had not shifted, that he would write a letter on his company letterhead to support that. It was his opinion that we had not needed to have the floors fixed as he didn't think the flange was the issue. After receiving this information, I called B K Plumbing back on 8/11/14 and asked the office manager to ask Brad if he was going to reimburse us for the expenses we were now incurring because of Chris' written assessment. Brad called me back and said "It isn't my responsibility to pay for your contractor. What he charges isn't my business." He also accused me of trying to defraud him. When I explained that I had two conflicting written assessments from his own employees, he told me that wasn't his problem. When I told him that I had an independent plumber who said I was given false information, he told me "That is hearsay. It is his word against mine." When I asked him where the pictures were of my home that Chris had taken while still employed by B K Plumbing, he said Chris had taken them with his own personal camera and not given them to the company. When I asked if that was his policy, Brad said "No it isn't but it isn't my responsibility if he doesn't take them with the phone I provided to him." When I asked him if he had tried to retrieve the images from Chris, Brad told me that Chris wasn't returning his phone calls. I asked if he could have Chris call me, he said "It is against company policy to allow a former employee to have further contact with a customer after they are no longer employed with us." I told him I wasn't a customer of B K Plumbing and Brad said "No, you are certainly not." Brad refused to take any responsibly for Chris giving us false information.
Description of Work: Plumber was sent out by our home warranty company to assess a leak we believed to be coming from our toilet.

BK Plumbing really treated us great!!! Chris is certainly an expert plumber and knows what it takes to please the customer. We recently had a hot water heater replaced and everything went well. From start to finish the project was completed with tremendous attention to detail. Chris made sure that this project was performed well and discussed in detail every step along the way. Having just moved into the house, we noticed a small leak coming out of the water heater. Since we had just purchased the house, we did have a warranty and the warranty company uses BK Plumbing to do their work. The technician was prompt and very polite and we spoke at lenght about the problem. Since the problem was caused by a couple of factors, he wasn't sure if the warranty company would honor the claim. Sure enough they did not. The problem came in the quote for the cost of repairs. I had to make a double take afer seeing a 50 gallon gas water heater that cost almost $2000.00. Since the work was not going to be taken care of by the warranty, we chose to get a second oppionion. At the advice of our home inspector, we contacted the gas company in our area who was able to install a tankless water heater for the same price as the tanked one through BK. The installer was shocked to find out how much BK Plumbing was going to charge for the repair and said the $600.00 or so of code upgrades was a joke and would only cost around $100.00.

Brad and his crew are great. I have had him do work for me several times. This is the first time Brad himself didn't come out. Kyle was the one who came out and he gave me a lot of good information that was helpful.

Due to the involvement of a Warranty Co. I was told to contact BK about a water heater that shorted out and was destroyed. After contact was made I was given a day and a 3-hour window of when the plumber would arrive to inspect the unit for needed replacement. I had previously emailed pictures of the damaged unit so they would be aware of what to expect, the model of the unit and what was needed as a replacement. The contact failed to arrive on time and after several calls arrived about 1.5 hours later. When the time came to replace the unit, I was once again given a 3-hour window of when they would arrive. After once again waiting past the 3-hour window I was told the plumber was going to be an hour late, so I cancelled and rescheduled for another time. On the third scheduled visit, the plumber was AGAIN not on time, and he advised me that he was to going to be late. I told him that there was not going to be another time and I would find someone else to replace the unit and related how disgusted I was with the company. A few minutes later the owner called apologizing and said he would have a plumber at my door the next day and he would also give me a free year contract for discounted services, and other benefits for my trouble. The water heater was installed, the work completed. To this date I never received the service warranty contract promised me by the owner. I definitely would not utilize this company for future service, with or without the service contract, and I am very surprised this company is even around today with the poor level of service it provides paying customers.

I called the company to complain. Our well pump was broken for 3 days, no water. Someone came out a couple of days later who confirmed the well pump was blown. I asked him to pull it today, then they told me they didn’t pull pumps, they weren’t licensed to do it and I asked why they didn’t tell me that before. As it was I had to call someone else and they replaced it the same day. Later the insurance company told me they charged for two visits when they didn’t do anything, they had told me they wouldn’t charge for the second visit. They also charged me $90. He also sold me an iron softener ($2200). Another, plumber told me that it doesn’t remove iron, he was right I still have iron in my water. I called them and they sent someone out to make an “adjustment,” I still have iron. I don’t want them back at all.
Description of Work: My well pump stopped working. They sent a guy out to troubleshoot; he didn’t know what he was doing.

I was happy to have my line fixed, I had no water. But after BK Plumbing overcharged me for the job they performed, I had to pay even more money for the damages they caused. I am NOT a satisfied customer.
Description of Work: I paid these guys almost $500 for a simple job that should have been way cheaper. I had a water line broken. This man made the bill out BEFORE getting out of the van!!!!!! He did not look to see what he was going to fix!!!!! I also had to pay $95 for after hours call, which I had no problem with. I do have a complaint for the charges $361.38. Then, the plumber finished the line repair he was there for ,but left another pipe leaking, a pipe he loosened while working on the broken line! I had a leaking pipe for hours before it was discovered. I have been in contact with BK Plumbing but have not got a response. I want a partial refund for some of the money I paid them. I would not call this company EVER again, and I would not recommend them unless you like to be cheated and robbed!!!!

BK Plumbing LLC did go out to the home on 06/13/2012 on an emergency call received after 11:00pm arriving after midnight 12:20am and completing at 2:20am. Our technicians fill out the customer information and problem on the invoice prior to or at arrival. We give upfront flat rate pricing. The member was given an estimate prior to the repair and signed the invoice giving us authority to do the work, agreeing to the price before any work was done. We also have a second signature confirming the work has been completed. We did receive an email Sunday 6/17/12 with the above complaint from the member. The owner tried to contact the member but received no answer. We received another email on Tuesday 06/19/12 from the member. We replied back to this email the same day letting her know that we have attempted to contact her by phone and to call the office and ask for Brad. We never received a call back. We did repair a busted water main at the home at the agreed upon price with the customer. We are sorry that she is having other problems at her home.We cannot refund any money because she has had different/new problems other than the repair we made.

Things started out great with B.K.; rapore on the phone was good and we were given assurances that they could meet our timeline and project requirements understanding that we were moving into a new home. After scheduling with the sellers some time to get B.K. in to do an inspection of the home and after reworking my schedule I hopped into the car to head to our appointment. I recieved a voicemail 30 minutes before our scheduled meeting saying that they were stuck on a job and would be 1.5 to 2.0 hours late. I called back to get some details and got voicemail. I have received no calls to reschedule or apologize or explain - and this was one of the owners of the business! If you are a busy person and need contractors who are respectful of your time and courteous I would not recommend B.K.; who knows if they will show up.

B.K was very responsive to my initial call. They came out very quick and got the job done fast. The crew was very friendly and professional. I was very happy with this company and they were very easy to work with. I was very happy with the price as well. I would use this company again.

They did a fine job. They are prompt, friendly, and cleaned up well. They made an extra effort to make sure everything was covered during the process. They also mopped and vacuumed both times. We used them through our home warranty company. They went beyond what I expected in making sure the job was done right and cleaning up. He was quite helpful at looking at our bathroom and providing suggestions in what to do there.

When they came out to install the water heater they were very professional and seemed to be competent. However when they came out to repair the water heater they did not seem quite so competent. They told me that I had to call and order the parts myself, but they did a good job once I got the parts.

The young man who came out was exceptionally nice (a N.Y. transplant). He opened the wall from the outside, and replaced the broken pipe. After the repair inside the wall, he put the wooden siding back in place more securely than I would have thought possible for a siding person and painter to follow up on. We found a couple of large nails and siding pieces on the ground after he was done. May want to be a bit more careful about leaving debris on the ground at the work site.
Description of Work: I had a broken PVC pipe in an interior wall.

We met Brad (Owner) at a Home Show where we discussed his units and pricing. He gave us a Home Show Special We later called him for an appointment. He sent a sales representative to our house who did a water test. We then made an appointment with Brad and he came out to install a system for us. We wanted the model like the one we saw at the Home Show but he didn't have that one in his truck. He was so nice and said he could get the one we wanted in a few days. Sure enough, his office called in a couple days and Brad's installer John came by and put the whole system in for us. He was very nice and did a great job with the installation.
Description of Work: They installed a whole house water softener system with extra hose bib. He uses Eco Water Systems which is a really great unit. So far, we are very happy with it.

After failing to clear the washer trap, they provided me with an estimate that was 3 times higher than the job cost (performed by another plumbing company). BK Plumbing gave this estimate without ever going into my crawl space to physically inspect the piping.
Description of Work: BK came out as a result of dispatch from our warranty company (American Home Shield). They attempted to clear the washer trap and drain pipe without success. They did not inspect pipes in my crawl space. Blockage turned out to be located in the crawl space in a pipe full of holes.

THE TECHNICIAN LOOKED THROUGH THE FOUNDATION VENT AND TO ASSESS THE PROBLEM AFTER ATTEMPTING TO CLEAR THE BLOCKAGE. HE DID GIVE AN ESTIMATE TO REPLACE 15 FOOT OF 2" PVC PIPE AND TO REPLACE THE WASHER BOX AND STUB VENT. HE DID ADVISE THE CUSTOMER THAT THE DRAIN NEEDED TO BE REPLACED DUE TO LEAKS AND LOSS OF DRAIN CAPACITY. OUR ESTIMATE WAS A ESTIMATE ONLY. IT WAS NOT AN EXACT QUOTE. This company came in response to our home warranty company. They wanted to charge us around $500 ABOVE what the warranty company would cover for parts and labor. They claimed we needed permits and other parts ''per code'', though when we checked with other plumbers, we found the amounts and requests to be excessive and not even necessary in some cases. Even the technician seemed embarrassed to tell us the amount. We opted to cash out and use another plumber. We liked the technician, but wouldn't go with this company.

THEY CAME OUT AND UNCLOGGED A DRAIN, AND STATED IT WAS FIXED. CHARGED $160.00, TOOK 5 MINS. AND THEN THEY LEFT. 2 DAYS LATER THE DRAIN WAS DOWN AGAIN, WE CALLED HIM TO COME BACK OUT AND RE-FIX THE PROBLEM, HE STATED THAT IT WAS OUR FAULT BY PUTTING MORE THINGS DOWN THE DISPOSAL. HE WANTED TO CHARGE US ANOTHER $100.00 TO COME BACK OUT TO RE-FIX A PROBLEM THAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN FIXED IN THE FIRST PLACE. WE ASKED HIM IF THEY HONOR THEIR WORK, AND HE STATED ONLY FOR NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR. EVEN THOUGH THE JOB WAS DONE JUST 2 DAYS PRIOR AND THE SAME THING WAS HAPPENING AGAIN. WE HAD TAKEN SPECIAL CARE NOT TO PUT ANYTHING IN THE DRAIN TO MAKE SURE IT WORKED. WE STATED THAT WE WERE GOING TO REPORT THEM TO THE BBB, HE JUST LAUGHED.

PLUMBER WAS QUICK TO RESPOND. SHOWED UP THE NEXT DAY TO COMPLETE THE WORK. TOOK HIM APPROX 1 HOUR. PLUMBER WAS PROFESSIONAL!
Description of Work: PLUMBING COMPANY USED WATER AND AIR TO CLEAR SEWER LINE FROM THE HOUSE TO THE STREET. A ROOT GROWING INTO THE PIPE CAUSED THE BLOCKAGE. THIS REPAIR IS TEMPORARY SINCE THE PIPE IS STILL IN PLACE. PLUMBER SUGGESTED THAT WE USE ROOT KILL TO DESTROY THE ROOT.

I TALKED TO THEM ON A FRIDAY, THEY WERE ABLE TO COME OUT ON MONDAY. HOWEVER, WHEN HE ARRIVED AND I EXPLAINED THE SITUATION, HE SAID HE COULDN'T DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT, I NEEDED TO CALL ROTO ROOTER. HE NEVER EVEN ATTEMPTED TO CLEAR THE CLOG. HE SAID HE COULDN'T HELP, AND WANTED HIS $60. A SUBSEQUENT PLUMBER I FOUND WAS ABLE TO CLEAR THE CLOG IN LESS THAN 30 MINUTES. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY--THEY NEVER EVEN TRIED TO HELP.

I HAVE ON THE INVOICE THAT WHEN WE ARRIVED ON 4/25/05 WE FOUND NO BLOCKAGE. THE CUSTOMER WANTED PREVENTATIVE MAINTENANCE OF HYDROJETTING THE LINES THAT WAS NOT COVERED BY HIS WARRANTY COMPANY. OUR COMPANY NEVER RECOMMENDS OTHER PLUMBING COMPANIES. WE STAND BEHIND OUR WORK, BUT WE CAN NOT STAND BEHIND ANOTHER COMPANIES WORK, SO WE DO NOT RECOMMEND OTHER COMPANIES. YES, HIS DEDUCTIBLE OF $60.00 WAS DUE AT THE TIME OF SERVICE. THIS IS AN AGREEMENT BETWEEN HIM AND HIS WARRANTY COMPANY.
