There were some drainage problems so they had to add some patches. Then it started to crack and they patched some more. The main problem is the asphalt quality is very poor and crumbles. he buys it from Carl Rose and Sons in Elkin, NC. I am witholding final judgement for now. He is coming in 2 weeks to tear up some of it and resurface the whole thing. I begged him to use a different asphalt provider. I think most of the blame actually lies with the asphalt manufacturer. They didn't scope and plan the job properly. They should have dug out two fairly large (about 15 'X 20') sections of the old pavement in order to have the new paving drain properly. Instead they just laid 2" of new pavement on top of the old pavement. They tried to make up for this after I pointed out that the paving that they were finishing would drain into the carport. However, they didn't dig up enough of this pavement to do it properly. The drive now ponds water in one location. The improper slope has caused erosion in another place. I have engaged someone to repair this with a concrete velocity damper. Finally, they laid the pavement so high in front of a golf cart/storage building that the door couldn't be opened. They were unresponsive to an email about this. After a phone call, they left a message that they would fix it soon. I waited a week and engaged someone fix this by tamping down the pavement. This is not the best solution and has a distinctly amateur appearance.. It was necessary in order to get the golf cart into the building. It has now been 3 weeks since they first were informed of the problem, and they still have not fixed it properly.
