They used a subcontractor to come in and install a washer and dryer and they did an atrocious job. They did a terrible job. They came in and they literally, we paid for installation they didn't hook up the dryer at all. They refused to hook up the dryer and just left. They got the hoses reversed on the washer. The time line itself was fairly extended. It took like a week and a half or so to even have someone install it. They came in to install it, they hooked up the washer, like I said they hooked up the hot water and cold water power cables backwards on the washer. We just realized that today, we couldn't figure out what was going on with the washer. It was washing at the wrong temperatures and we figured out they hooked up the hoses reversed. So that was pretty bad. The dryer, apparently the fitting they had for the dryer to go to the dryer vent, the vent outside, was the wrong size, so the installation company literally just told us this fitting is the wrong size we can’t install it and they just left, even though we had paid for installation and everything. Never came back, never called us. It was a mess. You would think that Sears, we buy all our stuff from Sears, appliances and everything, a big name company like that it was really surprising to do such a low quality.

I've used Sears for appliance repair. I had a maintenance contract on my washing machine. It was leaking. He did not fix it. He just told me what was wrong with it but he didn't do anything to fix it. He said the bin didn't center when the water was going into it, so the water was splashing out of it. He told me to hold the bin when it was filling up. That is okay when you first put your clothes in it, but after it spins and refills by itself, it still does it. I wasn't pleased. He said there wasn't anything they could do about it.

They are internal and they don't subcontract out. Their warranty is real. They did an excellent job in a timely manner. The price was good.

Why is it that after I make a purchase that I hear horror stories from others who have gone down this path? The best part of this experience was the saleswoman. She was very knowledgeable about the appliances.I selected a Kenmore washer on sale at a fantastic price. Once the sale was rung up I was informed that the next available delivery date was nearly 4 weeks out. Considering the good price I got I was willing to wait and do a few loads of clothes at the laundromat.I asked for an afternoon delivery time. Saleswoman couldn't guarantee that but told me I'd get a call the day before delivery regarding the time. And then began the crappy service from Sears. You see all deliveries are handled by a contractor. While the large appliances are stored in this store's warehouse, it is not Sears employees who deliver and install the products. When trying to communicate with the 1-800 service for the delivery contractor I realized my call was being fielded somewhere offshore. Way offshore. In summary:You the customer HAVE NO SAY IN YOUR DELIVERY TIME. Period. You the customer have been lured to the store by a low price on an item you wanted. Then you discover that they don't have any in-house. Heck, it might not even have been built yet. Do not be in any hurry to receive this product. If you are, say, needing a refrigerator, cancel the sale and go elsewhere. The store manager is powerless in dealing with the delivery contractor and this store manager really didn't care that there large appliances were weeks out of stock. Corporate doesn't care. This manager with 42 years with the company didn't care. The delivery finally happened the day after it was supposed to (24 days after purchase) after I told the manager that if the delivery didn't take place by 4pm that day I would be canceling the sale. I will show mercy and not blame the actual contracted delivery guys. They work for a company that doesn't care.Sears Consumer Solutions, if you can find their number, actually did listen to my complaints but they too were powerless to help. After 39 years of buying Kenmore appliances, this is our last. Do you hear me, Sears? Are you still wondering why you might go out of business?

Sears Stores When I call Sears Stores, I have to call the 800 number and get some other country or something. Then they show up, and don't have the part you need, so they will have to order it, which will take three days and of course by then it is weekend. So, I figure if I want them to repair an appliance for me it will take about two weeks. I did end up with a new washing machine, but it took 3 months, I won't buy from them again. The appliance people were nice! It is just their whole system you have to go through to get them to your house that is awful. Prices aren't that good. Awful experience!

It was under warranty and so I got them to come out and take care of the warranty problem. They did excellent work and they were here when they said they were going to here. I couldn't have asked for anything better. They even called me when they were on their way and the workers had nice uniforms which looked freshly laundered.

The repair was part of the home warranty. They were very helpful, we had some scheduling issues and they helped out. If you have any issues they are flexible and willing to work around it. I chose them because of customer service and availability.

After doing a great deal of comparison shopping, we eventually purchased a set of Electrolux appliances. The price was fine although the lady working appliances was not very knowledgeable about any of the items in her department. Still, that is what the internet is for - don't rely upon store staff for advice. But I wasn't really expecting much either. If you choose to have your items delivered, Sears will call after 6:00PM the night prior to announce their delivery window. Rather irritating actually, since most people in 2010 have jobs and need to arrange to miss work, and the stay-at-home mothers of the world generally are busy with being mothers. There is no reason that in this age Sears can't announce their large 4 hour window that you must sit around waiting for delivery like the cable company. Still, the movers did arrive within this enormous delivery window, so at least Sears is keeping with their portion of the bargain, should you choose to purchase there. However, the chose to arrive with a new white washing machine, with a broken blue dryer. We didn't purchase a broken blue dryer, but were expecting a new white one. All of this isn't the real problem, it just begins here. Calling to complain, the finger point began. "Well, we just deliver them..." "You probably should talk with Sears Delivery Central..." "Electrolux packs the boxes, they did it..." Etcetera. I finally managed to reach the store manager who again try some buck passing when I stopped here - "Look, I bought the dryer from Sears. Not Electrolux, not Delivery Central, but your store located right here. You are the manager - what can you do for me." "I can offer you free delivery." "Not good enough - I already have a rebate for free delivery. You delivered a broken dryer on a date that I managed to make myself available from work. Now, I will have to take another day off of work, but I can't schedule it since I don't know when you will manage to get a white dryer in-stock, and you can't even tell me when it will be delivered until after 6:00 PM the night prior. For this inconvenience, please rebate me 10% of the cost of the dryer." "I can't do that." "Why not?" "I'm not authorized." "Aren't you the store manager?" "Yes." "And you can't authorize this?" "No." "Who can?" "I can contact the regional manager." "There is no one at the store who is authorized to fix things on the spot? Incredible." "Would you like me to do this?" "Yes." -Look, shop here if you like, but realize that either A) the store manager was lying to me and just trying to avoid making a refund, or B) Sears Corp does not empower its managers. Either way, it is rather disturbing. If you have a problem, keep in mind that no one is empowered to correct problems. Eventually, I did receive my refund, but what good is it having a manager if they can't manage?
