Services we offer
Residential re-roofs, new construction, storm damage, insulation, gutters & siding.
The customner service we received exceeded our expectations. I filled out an inquiry online and a few hours later a representative was at our house providing us with a quote, and our roof was replaced a few days after that. We are very pleased with the quality of the work. I would definitely recommend this company.
Description of Work: Our entire roof was replaced.

I called to get an estimate, and they were able to meet with me the day I called since they were in town (I live approx 45 min drive from Jacksonville, NC). Considering I had called three other contractors during this time and none ever made the effort to meet for an estimate, I was impressed they were able to make it by the same day I called. They gave me the estimate that day. I waited another few weeks in an attempt to get other estimates, but I was never able to get any (the magnitude of damage in the area overwhelmed the local contractors). So, I asked others among my friends and coworkers who had wind damage what they were quoted from other companies, and Lanier's prices seemed reasonable. I called Lanier the beginning of December to have the roof replaced and they dropped by my house to discuss the details of the contract that evening. I signed the contract on 12/5/11, and by the end of the week they were replacing the roof. They had a large crew, so the job was finished within a day. They only thing they did later was seal the skylights and place the rain diverter (I think this was a week later if I remember correctly). I was told I would receive 2 bundles of shingles for future repairs, but apparently, enough was not ordered or it took more to do the job, so I was left with only 3/4 of a bundle for repairs. My husband was also slightly upset that he found nails in the driveway after the dumpster was removed. Overall, I was impressed with their promptness and efficiency in all aspects of the job, their follow-up with any concerns or questions I had, and so far the quality of the job (no leaks yet, but the true test will be this summer and the upcoming hurricane season).
Description of Work: After Hurricane Irene, I had some shingle and ridge vent damage on my 12-15 year roof (the front half of my roof was replaced in 1999 after Hurricane Floyd, the back half was original). I chose to have all the shingles replaced, instead of repair the missing ones, since the existing shingles were old and starting to deteriorate. Because of my high wind damage deductable, this job was not covered by my insurance company. For this job, they removed all old shingles, replaced the flashing around the chimney and skylights, replaced the boots around the vents, replaced the ridge vents, installed the proper underlayments, installed new shingles, installed a rain diverter, and sealed around my skylights (which were leaking). Included was a complete clean up and waste removal, which included bringing in a dumpster for the waste removal.

I did not find Lanier on Angie's List. Down here a hurricane came through and tore a bunch of shingles off and there were a lot of people running around soliciting work. I had half a dozen of them come in here. I did go on Angie's List and look at several different companies that were posted out there. I never chose anything from them because when Lanier came through here, they gave me a very good deal. When I went online and looked them up, they had a good reputation so I went ahead with them. I never used anything off Angie's List. They did pretty good work. I was happy with the work that they did. I don't know if the sub-contractor had an actual name or not company-wise. It was a young guy and he had a crew that came out here with him, two relatives and another worker. The only thing I didn't like about them was their clean-up. I am still picking up nails and stuff. The work that they did was alright. It was good work. Lanier came and gave me the estimate on the 28th of October and about two weeks later they came back and started the work on the roof. I had to call the crew back out here two or three times and make them continue to clean the area up until they got it right. Lanier brought a dumpster out here and set it in the yard. Two days later they brought all the material in. About a week later the crew showed up. They had several houses that they were doing in the area. The crew showed up down here and they tore half of the roof off in one day and put half the tar paper on there because we were expecting rains. They came back after the rain quit and tore the other half of the roof off, put the rest of the paper down, and then they laid all the shingles. That part of it they did fine. I didn't see any problem with that at all other than that one worker who was a little bit lazy. After that they cleaned everything up and they were gone. I started walking around the house and found nails and staples. I got up on the roof to look at the work and saw that they hadn't cleaned the gutters out. I got hold of Lanier and I asked them if the crew was supposed to clean the gutters out and they told me that they were supposed to. The crew came back out and cleaned all the gutters out. That was the only thing I found that they really didn't pay attention to, the cleanup part of it. That wasn't Lanier Roofing. They sub-contracted it out to a local outfit. The representative that I talked to said they had many sub-contractors up in this area. If you look up Lanier Roofing online they are out of Spartanburg, South Carolina, but they do have branch office here. When I looked them up online, they had a good reputation at least according to what the website said. When I got hold of them and told them that I wasn't happy with the clean-up, they turned around and contacted the crew so they had to come out here. They were right back out here cleaning things up, but it took them three times to get everything right. There were so many jobs that Lanier had scheduled. Their crew that came up from South Carolina was busy so they had to sub-contact some of it out. I don't know where they came up with the outfit that they had called. It was a young guy. I think he had management problems with the crew personally because it was his father-in-law and his brother-in-law. The fourth guy was no relation to him. The fourth guy worked pretty good with him. The father-in-law and brother-in-law had attitudes which were like they would do the work if they wanted to and if the guy didn't like it, that was too bad. I would have fired them if I had been him, but maybe there is something in the family that says he can't do that. They were attentive. I would consider hiring Lanier to do work for me again in the future. I would not hire the sub-contractor again. Lanier themselves I think would probably be alright if they had their own crew out here working, but the sub-contractor crew left very little to be desired. I told the Lanier representative when he came out here that if I was the company, I would think hard about sub-contracting to them again.
Description of Work: I used Lanier Roofing & Restoration for some roofing work. They sub-contracted it out to a local outfit down here in Jacksonville. They did a complete roof replacement. They pulled all the old shingles off, pulled all the paper off, put new paper on, put on a completely new roof, and installed ridge vents onto the house which weren't on there before. Then they did a clean-up.
