A crew of 3 came. Worked fast and efficiently and got the job done very professionally. I would recommend them for any local move.

Four men came to do the job. They were on time, very courteous, and discussed all options with me before they got started. The team was very careful about not scraping the walls as they took the piano down the interior stairs. They also protected the grass using boards when it came to moving the piano to their truck. Whole operation went smoothly. Highly recommend.

These guys did a superb job--responding to phone calls, clarifying what I needed, making suggestions, always on time, crating some important, delicate stuff, loading and placing stuff in the new place. NO complaints from me whatsoever. I've done 15-20 moves. This was the BEST.

We were moving from Michigan to North Carolina and rented a moving truck to drive down to North Carolina. We had help in Michigan with loading the truck, but knew we would need help in North Carolina unloading some of the heavier items. I called JE Thomas & Sons Moving and they were able to give us 2 men for a minimum of 2 hours which was exactly what we needed since we wanted to keep the price down and do as much of the work on our own as we could. Our movers were Neil and Shawn and they were on time, courteous, professional, friendly and very careful with our belongings. These guys worked hard! We will use them again for any of our moving needs and highly recommend them.

They were extremely professional and curteous . They all walk in and introduce themselves. I felt in really good hands. They got right to work and never complained and there were several very heavy pieces. They made our move very smooth and actually enjoyable. Would highly recommend them to anyone and feel comfortable doing so.

The two-man crew was about 45 minutes later than scheduled, but they were extra helpful, careful and courteous. They handled the unloading of our household goods in a very timely manner and we were very pleased with their service. We would definitely use this company again.

These guys were polite, professional, punctual(early even) and fast! They way they went up and down the stairs in my new home made me dizzy. They are nice people and hard workers. They even helped a pack a few things and offered to unpack. I have moved many times and this was by far the best move yet. They took good care of my items. We can not say enough good things about this company! Mr. and Mrs. Thomas, their sons, and others were terrific. They were very polite, friendly, efficient, experienced, careful, and really new what they were doing. When they described how they would pack our 40" X 70" painting, I knew that they were professionals and would do a good job. After watching them work for a few minutes, we were able to relax. Moving can be such a hassle but working with these people was a pleasant experience. You could tell that they really did care about making the move as easy as possible for us. Everything arrived in perfect condition and they even rearranged a few things so furniture was where we needed it to be. There were no banged walls or scraped floors. We really couldn't have asked for a better moving experience. We have moved a number of times over the years but never had movers that were so good.

JE Thomas and Sons took the stress out of moving. It felt like family was there to help. After using many movers over the years, I can say they were without a doubt, the best by far. They were so courteous, and very professional. They did a wonderful job, and I had zero issues. It was raining during the move, and they made sure everything was covered from the time it took to get things out of the truck and into the house. They helped assemble furniture for me, and I didn't even have to ask. They were cautious carrying furniture through narrow hallways, and didn't scuff any walls. They went above and beyond my expectations. Their high level of expertise was evident. I would definitely recommend Thomas & Sons to anyone looking for a reliable, professional moving company. I won't hesitate to pick their company when it comes time to move again.

Thomas and Sons convoyed down to my mother's house in College Park, Georgia and packed and loaded her up exactly as planned. I was supposed to meet them there and drive my mother's car up to North Carolina. Unfortunately, I ended up being hospitalized and had to cancel my trip. One of the crew drove my mother's car (with my mother and her cats) up to North Carolina while the other men drove the moving trucks. The unpacking and moving into my mother's new home was also flawless and I was so happy and relieved that I gave each member of the crew a 100.00 dollar bonus. They did a great job and I value the Thomas Family as personal friends. I recommend Thomas and Sons as being the first choice to anyone planning a household goods move. Their professionalism, customer service ethic, and flexibility are world class.

They were WONDERFUL! Eddie (owner) was on time to give me an estimate and provided it quickly. Their pricing was comparable to other estimates per lb. His estimate actually came out a little more than the actual cost of the move. They are a family owned and run business with only one out of the family employee that has been with them forever! I felt VERY comfortable with them knowing my belongings went on to the truck, were locked up and not touched again until they delivered them 2 days later. KUDOS to them. I would not hesitate to hire them again! And... FYI they do go out of area. They were very careful with my belongings and everything got here in one piece! They went out of their way to make sure I was happy with the placement of the furniture as well as making sure they had everything out of the old house. Thanks guys, you were the best!

I found this company on Angie's List with a good rating so I booked them. I did not comparison shop because after reviewing their website I felt comfortable supporting a local family business with stated values that I share. After the owner of the company surveyed aall of my household goods, I showed him the curio and china cabinets that I wanted them to pack as well as all my clothes and coat closets (wardrobe boxes). The cost for packing these items was $300, a flat fee, and I thought this was very reasonable considering the amount of delicates I own. I agreed to pack the rest of my belongings myself and i would secure my own boxes instead of buying them from the company. I did find the price of the boxes thru the company to be on the expensive side. Packing day, 4 young men, some related to the owner of the company, showed up to pack my multiple very fragile china cabinets and curios as well as my closets. They were fast and efficient and very courteous and professional. I bought them lunch and they were very appreciative. I was expecting the owner and his wife, so I was at first worried that four young men would not take the care to wrap my breakables appropriately but they proved me wrong - in fact - they may have wrapped them more securely than I would have myself! What I appreciated most was that they showed me chips in items before they wrapped them and marked some of the chips with tape so that when I unwrapped the item I would know for a fact that they did not do it. I appreciate this effort because then I know for a fact they were not responsible. I wish all movers marked chips or cracks with moving tape before they wrap them! It would save a lot of angst. The next day they moved all the furniture including antiques and appliances with one incident only. One glass shelf of one curio was broken as they tried to remove it, but they had the custom glass promptly replaced within days of the move. Because I was paying the four same men on moving day by the hour, I was able to decide how much I wanted them to do on the receiving end. Had I wanted them to unpack every single box they packed they would have for $150 per hour I believe is what I was paying. In hindsight, it would have been worth the $150 to pay them for one more hour of unpacking of fragile (that was A LOT of unpacking for me on my own). However, I did have them unwrap and insert all the glass shelves for all the curios and hutches, and that was well worth the additional cost in itself. The owner of the company had estimated 10 hours for the move the next day. They were done more quickly so my move came in under estimate and with only one dent to woodwork in my hutch, unfortunate but not devastating to the look or function of the piece, and the one broken glass shelf that was replaced and delivered to us by the owner within a few days of the move. I did tip each of the four men $50 each and and gave them an extra $10 each to cover the lunch they had picked up on their way between the two houses. The cost of the tip and lunches is included in the total above. Overall I have to say I was very pleased with the company and would recommend them. They may not be the least expensive, I don't know, I didn't care. I had an educated number in my budget for moving expenses and their estimate came in right at budget. The fact that the actual came in less was the icing on the cake!

It went great!! Three guys showed up and moved everything in no time at all. It took approximately 2 1/2 hours from start to finish. They were very professional and nothing arrived at the other end damaged. They didn't dilly dally and worked hard. The air in my current home went out that very day and it was hot and humid out making it uncomfortable, but they never complained. I would definitely use them again. This is the way all companies should operate. The customer service was great. When I called to book them, the woman who answered explained the process and what was involved and answered all my questions. I highly recommend them to everyone.

It was smooth, I was underquoted. There were a few knicks left on furniture that in the chaos of moving I didn't notice until unpacking was done.

I spoke with three different people. I called, was called back and told they couldn't help me within my timeframe.

First, let me just say that JE Thomas & Sons moved us during a tropical storm!!! I was very nervous there would be cancellations but they arrived 15 minutes prior to my appointment time (calling first of course). They started by doing a walkthrough of the house to ensure they understood all that was to be moved. Once the walkthrough was complete they got started right away. They even took apart all of our beds and some of our harder to take apart furniture with no issues. I was very impressed with their professionalize and their packing skills. Once they arrived at our new house and placed all the furniture they made sure all of the furniture and boxes were placed exactly were we wanted them. They even moved some of the furniture multiple times until i made up my mind. I would definitely recommend them and although I don't hope to move again anytime soon I would definitely use them again and again!

Ed Thomas and his 2 fine young men -Neil & Sean made our big move so easy. From the 1rst contact with Ed we could tell we would not have to worry (after reading reviews on other moving companies,we were very nervous!) He gave us a very fair quote and worked around our tight schedule. Neil and Sean showed up when expected, were very professional, polite and took extraordinary care with our belongings .The delivery to our new home was on time and absolutely painless. I would highly recommend this small family run company and would use them again in the future. Amazing service!

Both crews were fantastic. The first group consisted of 3 young men from the Thomas family. They arrived on time, with dollies & furniture pads, as well as, a great work ethic. Before starting, they formulated a plan on how best to achieve the objective then implemented it without any mishaps. This took about 3 hours. Upon returning to replace the furniture in the house, the second Thomas crew arrived on time, with essential equipment, and all were wearing white soled sneakers to protect the floors! The return of furniture to the house took a bit longer because we applied felt protectors to the bottom of every piece of furniture. Again, no mishaps. Both crews were courteous and very friendly. And the scheduler (Mrs. Thomas, I think) was patient and very accommodating. Problems with the refinishing job caused us to reschedule the second move 3 times. Overall, the extra cost was well worth it. They treated our furniture as if it was their own.

Our daughter was moving from Jacksonville and, temporarily, back into our home in Durham. We had planned to rent a truck and hire help to load in Jacksonville and someone else to unload in Durham. Mr. Thomas quoted fair hourly rates for the loading, but offered to do the whole move for $900. This was no more, and probably less, than it would have cost for me to take responsibility for a truck and pay another crew in Durham. Mr. Thomas, two of his sons, and two other helpers showed up on schedule. They quickly and carefully moved everything out of the apartment an into the truck. When we reached Durham, they accurately moved in the things designated for our house and took the rest to storage. We had rented two storage units, but they placed and stacked so skillfully that everything fit into one. We like working with family-owned businesses and were completely satisfied with our experience.

I have hired several moving companies in the past, and my experience with J.E. Thomas & Sons Moving is by far the BEST company I've ever encountered. I needed a company to pack my 3 bedroom, 2200 square foot home and move everything long distance into a storage unit. 5 gentlemen came and packed the entire house in a day, and I have A LOT of stuff. They were extremely efficient and professional. The owner, Eddie, even came for a little while to check on things and help out. Two days later, my stuff was delivered to the storage unit. I was incredibly impressed with the whole process. I felt the price was very reasonable, and was not far off at all from the quoted estimate. I couldn't have been happier with how everything went!!

Great they arrived on time and got started right away. They put down covers for my carpet to not get it dirty. They wrapped my furniture so it didn't get dirty. They got to my new house and were very careful not to cause damage.

Eddie Thomas runs the company with his wife, sons, and few long-time employees. They are a pleasure to work with. I called and Eddie and he came and gave me a very competitive quote. The quote was within a few $100 of two other major companies but the other companies would load my house-hold goods on to a semi-truck with other people's goods and take up to a week to deliver; JE Thomas offered door-to-door service in a dedicated truck so we went with him. His workers are very professional, dedicated and pay attention to the details. I was worried that my wife who was accepting the goods in NY would have a hard time but they were gentlemen and worked real hard to make everything easy on her.

We were moving furniture and boxes from IL to our home in NC. Our items were professionally packed in a rented truck and we needed movers to unload the truck and place the furniture and boxes in our house. I was so glad that I called JE Thomas and Sons! Their service was exemplary from start to finish. They were helpful in scheduling a time and day that worked well for me. The movers (three very nice young men) arrived promptly at the appointed time. They were careful with our belongings and efficient in moving them into the house. They made sure that everything was set up exactly as we wanted it. The price charged was very reasonable. I would definitely use JE Thomas and Sons again.
