We called Parks since they were the ones who installed the system four years ago in our new house and we knew the parts would be covered under warranty. The tech came out and diagnosed the problem. We were aware that the cost for the visit would be $89 regardless of what else would need done. He determined that flame sensor was not working properly. He stated he could clean it for $145 or replace it for $125. We went with replacing since it still might need replaced after cleaning it. We assumed with that high of a charge that there would be a decent amount of labor involved in replacing this part, so we didn't question it. However within 5 minutes, he was done. My wife talked to him about being unhappy with being charged that much for 5 minutes of labor. He was nice about it, but stated that was what he had to charge based on the company's labor sheet. So then we decided to call Customer Service. My wife talked to someone name Cody. She told him how we were unhappy being charged that much for something that takes 5 minutes. Basically his response was "Would you like him to have taken longer?" No, we would like to be charged more fairly for the amount of labor. Then she called the manager and left a message. He called back and they discussed, but we were not able to get anywhere with him. We understand that an additional charge might be necessary, but $125 for 5 extra minutes seems ridiculous (had we not done the repair and went with someone else, it would have only been the original $89). It felt like they were trying to make up for the fact that the part was not charged for since it was under warranty.

We upgraded our air condition systems last spring after service on one of the system tested very weak and would probably fail over the summer. Patrick Hamilton in Sales was very professional and provided us with pricing and performance that met our needs. Both systems were installed in in one day and have been providing great comfort and they are saving me energy cost. Installation technicians were great. Parks has been giving us great service for the past 11 years since we purchased the home new.

We bought the house and everything was under warranty for the first 3 years. They helped keep us online to know when it's time to check the air and when it's time to check the furnace. When they come out they are very professional, they do their job, in and out, and done.

I use them because they installed the air conditioning. The cost of service is included in the warranty for new construction. I had to wait three weeks for them to order the defective part. I was confused as to why, if everyone knew this part was defective, why it took so long to have it ordered and on hand. That is the biggest complaint I had. They came out several times over the summer because both of the air conditioning units, at one point or another, quit working.
Description of Work: I use Parks Heating & Cooling. The last time they were here they had to replace both a defective part and the coolant.

It went fine. I worked with Patrick on every detail and he was very responsive and professional. This is a very professional company and did high quality work, I'll also get a 700 dollar rebate from Lennox. I pointed out that the line set was too small from an older 2 ton system and they installed a brand new one without any grief or added cost to me. They are fast and were able to start the job within 2 days, they finished job in 4 days, they said would have been faster but the space was tight so could only use two installers on the job. I had a great experience and would recommend this company.

Usually, I have an easy time writing a review, because the experience was either all good, or all bad. With Park's, it is 50/50. The sales person who initially came out was Patrick Hamilton, and he is absolutely amazing!!! He was the face of the company, and a big part of the reason we chose this company. He was on-time, responsive, professional, friendly, and courteous, plus, he knew what he was doing and talking about. The installation was a big 2-day project that had at the most 6 guys working at one time. They worked in extreme heat, and did a fantastic job with the installation. They were on-time and very professional, and they all seemed to know what they were doing. Again, a real pleasure to work with. Once the installation was complete, we found there will probably be some adjustments to make, perhaps moving some of the equipment, etc. So we contacted the office person to discuss, or to find out who to speak with. Immediately, there was rudeness, lack of follow-up, no customer service, and an air of defensiveness. After calling probably 6 times over the next two weeks, ended up speaking with a few people, all of which were rude, defensive, and acted like we were a bother. We never asked for anything for free, just simply to have someone come out and discuss our issues and see what can be done, and any costs associated with. After being talked-down to and practically demeaned over the phone by their service manager, we decided to contact our original sales person, who is awesome, and he was so responsive and caring and is coming back out to talk to us. So I guess the moral of this VERY expensive story is, Parks is great on pricing, sales, design, and installation, but once the equipment is installed, you are on your own, or just better off calling someone else. If their service department and customer service department (and I am using that term VERY loosely), were up to the high standards their sales and installation departments are at, they would have gotten an A+ rating from me, and I would be recommending them to everyone I come in contact with....and that is a LOT of people.

We have had a poor experience with Parks Heating and Air. Our upstairs air conditioning went out at the beginning of the week less than 9 months after it was installed by Parks in our new home. We called Monday night and got an appointment for Tuesday. The technician never showed up or called Tuesday. I actually had to call twice after my appt time. The first time the lady who answered said they were running behind. The second time they said they had my wrong phone number so the technician didn't come. I don't know how that could happen because I had given my name, address and phone number both of the previous calls. So we had to settle for an appt. Wednesday. They showed up and a pressure valve was broken already in the air conditioner. Well they don't have that in stock so they had to order it and we were told to call the next day to find out when the part was going to come in. The next day when I called, it took them forever to even figure out what I was asking. They had to take my information down and said they would call me the following day. Well they never called and when I called today they said they would have to call me Monday. By then we will have gone a week without air conditioning upstairs where our kids sleep. Needless to say, we are not real happy having to go through this the first Spring in our new home. Our neighbors already had to have their unit fixed twice and it was installed by Parks.

We have been using Parks exclusively for around 8 years. We were satisfied with their service until the most recent incident. It went like this: 4/1/14 Tech came out for our contracted maintenance. About a week later our upstairs unit was not cooling well so I called them back. I told them I did not think I should have to pay for the visit since they were just at my house. I had specifically told the Tech that the last 2 years we needed our 1 lb free Freon to get us thru the summer. Also, that we knew we would need to replace our 2 units shortly. Ed the sales guy called and came out and met with me about new units approximately 4/14/14. Ed was nice and answered all of my questions. I liked the units and was going to talk to my husband about it. Ed said we could start installing as early as the next week. 4/14/14 (SAME DAY) a different Tech came to put Freon in our system. I found out that the 4/1 Tech checked our Furnaces, not our A/C units and that I would be charged for a service call. Why would anyone check the furnaces when we were getting ready to use A/C? This makes no sense to me and I was pretty angry about that. It got worse. So I explained to this tech that I just talked to sales guys about new units. That we just needed to get by a little bit longer. That for the last 2 years they put in our one lb of free Freon (comes with Maintenance agreement) and that got us thru the summer. He went to do his thing. Tech came back in and presented me with a bill for $520. I was super upset about it. I was expected to pay for a service call and get 1 lb free Freon. He put 4 lbs of Freon in the unit without discussing with me. He could tell I was upset so he knocked the bill down to $390. He told me I would get the $390 knocked off of my new units. That felt like extortion. If you can just $390 off of a bill on new units, then maybe you should just do that. Who doesn't talk to you in advance before doing $520 worth of work on a unit about to be replaced. NO ONE does that! A few days later my husband called to complain to the Service Manager. The Manager actually said that if I was upset than I shouldn't have paid the bill and I should have called them. I didn't know I could just refuse to pay the bill and I didn't call them because the Tech called them. Honestly, I just wanted that man out of my house immediately. I told him about 5 times how upset he was and asked him why he would put in that much Freon when we were replacing the units? The Tech had just used technical talk as to why he did it. The Manager also said that you can't get on A on Angies List unless you buy their advertising. He did not care about our complaint, the fact that they lost an $18,000 sale on new units, that they check our furnace when they should have checked our A/C. He had excuses for everything. I have never had such a bad customer service experience. thanks to Angie's List, I found a new provider that we really like who will now get HVAC sale and our business.

Lied to me and then charged for a service call Before this experience my family has used Parks for 30+ years. I moved into a new house and had a technician to come out and service the furnace. When he came out he put his carbon monoxide detector in the house and went to check the furnace. After about 10 minutes an "alarm" started going off and the technician came back in and said the levels in the house were dangerous and I needed to replace both units. Come to find out, I had a different type of technician at my house and when his Furnace people came out they took a 0 reading - which was corroborated by a third technician. Parks is trying to sell new units, using scare tactics, to its clients. We will never use Parks again!

Armando was the technician who came this time, and my only complaint with him is that he did not call ahead of time (minor complaint). He was in the attic with the furnace, which was not working, for approx 45 minutes. I was becoming anxious because he seemed to be taking a long time to diagnose the problem. He ultimately replaced the old wires on the thermostat. This had been installed approx a week earlier because the furnace was not working properly and the thermostat was about ten years old so it was thought by a family member that the thermostat needed to be replaced. Even though my anxiety level was close to being out of control, Armando was extremely understanding and calming. He was very professional and I will continue to use Parks Heating and Cooling. Also, the person I spoke with in the office, Dannie, was most helpful while scheduling this service call. UPDATE: Right after Armando left on 12/31/2013,the blower/fan on the furnace continued to shut off after about five minutes. The wiring which he replaced on the new thermostat was, in actuality, an incidental (and valid) finding. The thermostat was replaced because of the blower issue. I called Parks back after I realized that real problem was not corrected. I also told the answering service attendant, since it was New Year's Eve and the next day was a holiday that this request for another service call could wait until Thursday, January 2, 2014, as I had alternative heat. I received a call from service technician this morning, and Mike Fisher and David Wood were at my house about 10:30 AM. Mike had been here previously to do annual maintenance. Mike and David went into the attic and corrected the problem. They did explain the issue to me, though I understood very little of their description since furnace repair was never on any class schedule of mine. They also stayed and checked the response of the furnace to changes in the thermostat to be certain it was working properly. I did ask them why the technician who was here in the fall for annual maintenance did not discover the problem and Mike said he did not know. He was also unable to tell me why Armando did not correct the problem. He was quite professional and did not speak negatively of his co-workers. Mike and Dave were able to correct the problem in less time than the annual furnace maintenance tech was in the attic, and also in less time than Armando was in the attic on the 31st. Before I could even inquire about the charge for today, I was informed that there would be no charge for the repair today. I was also told that the wiring was brittle. When I asked about any danger and should I have it replaced, I was told as long as the wires remain where they are and not moved, there is no reason for concern. I interpreted this as honesty, as he could have easily frightened me with a horror story. I will request Mike or David for future maintenance and repair. As a consumer the importance of honesty and quality cannot be overstated. My trust in Parks Heating and Cooling was restored today. I waited a few hours to write this review, and the fan/furnace seems to be running smoothly and the house is warm with no alternative heating!
Description of Work: I have a 4 1/2 year old westinghouse-Nordyne gas furnace and A/C. (Retrospectively a poor purchase.) Installation was though a different company d /t home warranty coverage. I has unhappy with their service, and have been using Parks for annual checkups on both units. I do not believe I have ever had the same person here more than once, Final diagnosis: the thermostat wires were bad and needed to be replaced. UPDATE: I think I wrote my initial review on Parks Heating and Cooling too soon. Two other technicians came today to correct the problem of the furnace fan shutting off after approximately every 5 minutes.

Parks has been our A/C service contractor for the past 2 years, and have always been fair and honest. Ryan is typically the person who comes out to inspect our systems in the fall and spring. For the most part, our systems were holding their own, and Ryan helped keep those systems running without too much effort or cost We knew the systems were old and were not going to be operational forever. When some significant troubles were detected this Spring, Ryan pointed out the issues to us, and said the systems could either be repaired or replaced. Lynn came out to our house and provided us with multiple options ranging from the repair to the replacement. I did not feel pressured into making a particular decision, and Lynn talked through all of the scenarios with me. Lynn was always patient and responsive when I asked all of the questions I needed answering. We decided to have the system replaced. Chris and Ben showed up on time, were professional during the entire installation and cleaned up after themselves. The system works great. There was a discrepancy on the rebate we were quoted on our contract and what the A/C manufacturer actually paid. I called Parks and spoke with Anthony about this discrepancy. Anthony looked into the issue, and determined there was an error and Parks offered to cover the difference as it was their mistake. It took about 2 months to get that check from Parks due to it getting hung up in their accounts payable department. I do not fault Anthony for any of this. Anthony was always very responsive and professional through the whole process. We've been very happy working with Parks. They are not the cheapest A/C contractors in town, in fact, they may be one of the more expensive contractors. However, you know you are being treated fairly and honestly; they always return calls, and always show up on time.
Description of Work: Our A/C unit and heating unit were requiring a significant repair, and after much deliberation, and due to the age of the equipment, we decided it would be better to have the whole system replaced.

They replaced one capacitor incorrectly which nearly broke equipment in my house. A person in their office challenged me on the phone afterward and offered to give me a partial refund (only when I asked for it) and then they didn't. There was no more followup from the company to apologize or make sure the equipment was working. I had to get another provider to fix the problem.

I really did my homework on this one because we have really had problems with our existing systems. They had been repaired 15 times in 10 years! And for spending this kind of money, I got 4 bids. Checked all of the companies who were bidding on BBB and Angie's List. Compared the different systems to be installed between the bids - for repair satifaction, sound level, etc. Compared warranties. Parks was not the lowest bid, but in the middle. We decided to go with them because of their price; warranty (10 years) - we felt they would still be in business over the next 10 years; responsive communication with us, and the reputation of the product they were installing. Knowledgeable. On time. Courteous. Prompt in getting bid to us and returning our phone calls to answer questions. Very satisfied with the bidding process and the installation. I would recommend them! However, only time will tell if our problems with our HVAC systems have been corrected.

I had an equipment related warranty repair and they were prompt, knew what they were doing and had the AC back up and running in short order. I placed a service call for one of my AC units because it was not working . I placed the call this morning 6/27/2001 before 7:30am and technician was out before 12pm. He remove the AC cover and diagnosed the problem and informed me that the fan motor was the problem. He then gave me repair cost information and preceded to do the repair. He took less than 1 hour to complete the job. The technician gave me the final bill explained the charges and made me aware of a EPA maintenance agreement for $263.00 . The total cost of the job was $560.00 which I thought was bit pricey for the nature of repair work that was done. Using the internet I was able to determine on average that the price of parts for the job were as follows: 1/3 hp fan motor on average $275-375 and the 7.5 mfd capacitor on average $45-50 tax and shipping is included for both parts. While I readily admitted that I do not know if or the amount that Park's Heating and Cooling charges for parts mark-up it would seem me however that a responsible cost for this repair should have been somewhere $500-525 which would have covered labor, parts and parts make -up. I have used Park's Heating and Cooling several times in the past and I believed I could trust the company to treat/charge me fairly I now have to wonder about the validity of this statement.

Description of Work: I use Parks Heating & Cooling Inc once a year. They came out in summer probably three months ago.

Price was not cheap but response time was good. Repairman needed to go to Lowe's for additional parts. One complaint was that the wiring was unfinished (there was a pigtail hanging out of the unit) and mounting screws were quite extended over the nuts. I called and asked for a review of the work. Four days later another tech came out. His take was that the wiring was not incorrectly done but he did follow my suggestion and re-wrap the wires as well as cut down the bolt length.
Description of Work: Replace the fan motor for AC unit
