+ -1 moreI had to wait a day longer than promised for them to be out here. They were very good at their job though. They have an emergency customer deal for eighty bucks, but for those who aren't they make you wait just a little bit longer. They called and apologized for being late which remedied a lot.

The check on my 20 year old system was the most complete it has ever gotten. I signed a maintenance agreement with them to come out twice a year to maintain my system. Highly recommend!

Kevin Braswell came to our house during the hours scheduled and did a wonderful job cleaning our A/C systems which had not been cleaned in a few years. He spent 2 1/2 hours doing all the work. He was very professional and courteous, answering my many questions. I could not have had a better experience! I would recommend McClintock to anyone.
Description of Work: Check up and cleaning of our two 10 year old A/C units. Price was cost of a one year service contract for two A/C units and two heating units to be checked in the fall.

+ -1 moreEric came to our home within two days of our call to provide an estimate on the work. When we mentioned that the prior diagnosis recommended against using the existing duct work he expressed caution, as commercial buildings use individual returns and that if it worked with the old unit something else might be causing the issue. He looked at the unit and crawled under the house and immediately became suspicious of a large duct, with duct tape on the side. He expressed suspicion that there might be a damper or filter in the duct. He was right. The prior owner apparently some two years before had cut a 20" x 2" hole in hard duct and taped over a filter. The filter was completely caked over with the elements that circulate in vents. Eric saved me $1800 that day. I very much appreciated his time and efforts and will be using Mcclintock in the future.
Description of Work: We had a brand new HVAC unit not cooling the house that we had installed last winter. We had a large heating and air company (always advertising in paper/television) out to diagnosis the issue. They diagnosed the problem as insufficient returns, as we had 6" ducts in each room for returns. The technician indicated that these returns were adequate for the old Trane unit but not for a new efficient unit and recommended that we have the individual returns capped off and install one large return for $1800 - installing it in a closet. We believed $1800 to be a bit much for the recommendation, and didn't want to lose half of our closet and wanted a second opinion. This is where Mcclintock comes into the picture.

I had moved into a new home and didn't have any recommendations for an A/C and heating company, but I wanted to have my units checked and cleaned. I found them on Angie's List and called to book them. They walked me through all the options I had available from one time checks to their maintenance plan. I chose the maintenance plan which included a cleaning and check on my air conditioning unit and in 6 months a cleaning and check on my furnace - all for $180. Any Freon that needed to be filled on the A/C was discounted at this price (and I think I got a bit free up to a certain quantity). Any repairs they found would also be discounted. They were very punctual (never late!) and answered all my questions in detail. They did not rush around and kept my home very clean.

Under this service plan, we receive a nice discount on any other work that needs to be done. McClintock sends out the same person every time to do the work. They are very nice and make an effort to get to know you. Overall, they did a great job again.

+ -1 moreThey said that the fuse that was in there was not strong enough so he replaced both fuses with the correct amperage. They made a mistake with charging too much for the two fuses. They refunded us the money though. I think it was a very honest mistake and people do make mistakes. They wrote a letter and they were very apologetic.

+ -1 moreCall in the morning, here in the afternoon despite a hot spell and I'm sure lots of customers. Serviceman very polite and courteous. Took time to explain the problem and what he needed to do. Explained the charges on the bill and I used the Angie's List coupon to save $30! So impress with the service and company that I entered into a service agreement to keep my house cool in the summer and warm in the winter. Money well spent!
Description of Work: Second story A/C unit couldn't keep up with the heat! Serviceman checked the outside unit then climbed into the 124 degree attic to check the unit. Diagnosed the problem made the adjustments and added freon.

+ -1 moreThe girl answering the phone at 5:30 p.m., after normal business hours, was very pleasant and helpful. She called back later in the evening to tell us that the technician would be here between 9:00 am and 10:00 am in the morning. She also called in the morning at about 9:05 am to say they were on their way. The technician, Jack Rhodes, and his helper, Nate Davis, were very pleasant and professional, found the problem almost immediately and proceeded to replace the necessary parts. They also gave some advice on additional service, cleaning a very dirty coil, that would improve the efficiency of the system, but said it might not be worth the cost on 20-year-old equipment that probably should be replaced in the next year or two. They also said the refrigerant was slightly low, but that the system should operate fine without recharging it.
Description of Work: Cooling system did not provide cooling. They replaced the condenser and contactor and added refrigerant. They did not have the correct size condenser on the truck, so they installed a temporary one and came back later in the day to install the correct one.

+ -1 moreNot good. I liked them at first, but now I will never use them or recommend them again. I wish Rob would do what any good human being would do and replace the carpet.
Description of Work: Mclintock did some work on my hvac unit in the fall and spring. They glued some pipes together at my inside hvac unit. While my wife was cleaning out the bedroom closet, she noticed that the carpet was soaking wet. When we pulled it back it was drenched, ruined. I could not figure out where the water was coming from. Over this past weekend, I noticed 3 wet spots in the carpet in the hallway. I thought the cat urinated on it, but it did not smell like it. Yesterday, my wife said she said the hvac unit in the hall was making a funny noise. When I got home I heard it. I opened the door to the hvac unit, to find that water was all over the slab foundation. I went into my office closet and that carpet was soaking wet also. I pulled back the carpet next to the hvac unit and that was soaking wet. I called Mcclintock and they came out yesterday. Tim, a technician, said the pipes were not glued together, and that a drainage pipe had fallen and was not connected. Water had leaked all over the slab foundation, and into the other rooms and the hallway. The carpet is ruined, and the padding underneath is ruined also. I spoke with Rob today, and he claims that the invoices do not show that they did anywork on those pipes therefore they are not responsible. He knows they did the work. A technician some time ago, glued these pipes together, but did not glue the one that drains. Rob has refused to pay for it, and now my carpet is ruined. My house smells like mold and mildew. All Rob could say is put some fans on the wet spots. Thanks for the advice. Do not use them!! Rob did not do the right thing, as any good person should. He actually said that I may have done this on purpose to get a new carpet. I have never been treated so badly by a supposedly customer service company, and especially one that is on Angie's List. So, unless you want your carpet ruined do not use them.

+ -1 moreEverything went well...there was a brief bit of confusion at the start of the process, but I think that was due to it being a Friday on one of the first hot days of the year with a whole lot of calls. The professionalism exhibited by the phone staff and technician went a long way to resolve that minor issue. I can honestly say that McClintock went out of the way to be sure my air conditioning was serviced in a timely manner. I am most pleased with the work and the service.
Description of Work: The technician came out and investigated the issue with the air conditioner. From that investigation, he wrote up a plan of action for solving it. Since it was late on a Friday afternoon and he needed a couple of supply items that are not carried on the truck, he asked to return on Saturday morning after the supplier opened. He returned and completed the work.

+ -1 moreThe woman I spoke to on the phone when I made the initial call was friendly (she was the same woman who called me the next day to move my appointment). James was very polite and friendly and he seemed very knowledgeable. The other employee was also nice (I think he was there to observe James). I felt very comfortable with both of them. James asked me if I had an Angie's List coupon, which I did not, but when I showed him my Angie's List magnet he gave me the discount. I'd guess McClintock is not the least expensive option around, but I don't mind paying more for good service and personable employees. I would definitely call them again.
Description of Work: Our outdoor A/C unit was constantly running, even when the indoor blower unit reached the appropriate temperature and shut off. We called McClintock based on their high rating on Angie's List. I was able to make an appointment for the day after I called. My original appointment was for the afternoon, but a representative from McClintock called the morning of the appointment and asked if I would like to have someone come out immediately, as they had had a cancellation, and I agreed. James and another employee arrived quickly and after about 10 minutes James determined that the problem was with the wiring in our indoor thermostat unit. A wire had broken and was coming into contact with the "hot" terminal (or something like that) and was sending a signal to the outdoor unit to run no matter what the inside temperature was. He asked if we had painted the wall around the thermostat recently, and we had. He suggested that perhaps the wire had become dislodged when my husband and I took the thermostat unit off the wall to paint around it. James quickly fixed it and made sure the outside unit was now shutting off properly. In all they were at my home about 40 minutes.

+ 0 moreWes arrived on time. He inspected the outside unit and could find no problem. He then inspected the attic unit. No problem. He then went back outside and looked at the electrical wires leading to the unit and found that when the foam insulation was replaced on the wires, some wires were severed causing the unit to stop working. We had recently moved into this house and had asked the seller to replace the insulation. He spliced the wires back together and everything has worked fine since.
Description of Work: The outside unit of my heat pump system did not operate at all.
