They are excellent. The job went perfectly. I found them on Angie's List. When I met the sales guy, he was very nice and straightforward. I kept one of the heating units upstairs, which was in pretty good shape. He told me that I didn't need a new one. They were really nice and honest. The system is still working well.
Description of Work: I had some air conditioning problems starting last summer. They came out several times. They installed two new A/C units and an energy-efficient 85% furnace.

I can't say enough good things about the team at McClintock. From the minute I spoke to Rob McClintock about my needs to the visit by Randy and Brian to scope out the job to Joel and Brandy for the installation of two AC,two furnaces, two clean air and a humidifier we were treated extemely well. The entire team is most professional, skilled and so eager to assure ultimate customer satisfaction. I had a unique situation in that I had already had a verbal agreement with another company to do the job but after six failed attempts including multiple part replacements to get heat I decided it was time to find an alternative. I called McClintock HVAC the Tuesday before Christmas ,talked to Rob and explained my situation--no heat and and installation scheduled after the first of the year. Randy Race came to the house and not only provided a very competitive quote but informed me the team could move some jobs around and could start the installation before the end of the year. Best of all ,Randy got the old furnace running and it was still running when the installation started for the new units. Randy and Brian stayed in communication throughout the process and the installation team worked on New Years eve day to complete the installation. Any home owner needing HVAC service or replacement need look no further than McCintocks.

Kevin, the service technician, arrived on time. He did a thorough inspection of our heating system. Our system is close to 20 years old, so our goal is to keep it running as best it can. He recommended two small things that needed to be done to keep the system in good operating order. We've had a service agreement with McClintock for several years now, and twice a year when their technicians come out, they are always on time, work efficiently, and are very nice. Their prices are reasonable, and I would gladly recommend them!

I'd had a problem with the main level AC blowing cold air (except during emergency heat) for the past couple of months. I had another AC guy I know come out - he couldn't explain the cold air but said everything seemed fine. I have a 4-day old child as of this visit and writing so I wanted to know what was going on. After again experiencing the same cold air, I searched Angie's list and found McClintock's AC with an awesome rating. They got James out in just a few hours. James found the problem immediately - the "fan" setting, as opposed to the "auto" setting, was on and this allowed the cool air to circulate when the heat wasn't running. I knew immediately that this was the correct diagnosis. James proceeded to do a thorough diagnosis on my unit - checking the freon level, the defrost cycle, etc. Within minutes of changing from fan to auto, only warm air circulated through the vent. James said that everything looked good and I am satisifed knowing the root cause. James was very knowledgable, friendly, and competent. It's one thing to say that the system looks ok, it's another to explain why it didn't seem that way to begin with. I work in high-level computer debugging and know that customers want a root cause analysis when something goes wrong. James provided that for me and now I have peace of mind. I would call McClintock again.

If I have a problem, I call them. Their price is no more or no less than what the others charge. Everybody charges about the same. I usually have a contract so you get it for less if you have it for the year. Then you get a discount if they have to come to your house to service something. I think it's a 15 percent discount. If I have some problems and need some repairs, they are excellent and are able to come out pretty quickly. They are helpful. They are here and they are on time. They may give ideas of things to do that would be useful or helpful. They gave me a suggestion to put in another smoke detector and different things like that. They look out for safety too. They check things. My furnace is getting old now so it needs a few more things done to it than when I first used McClintock years ago. They make sure that everything ends up running safely and correctly and take preventive steps. I have seen other fly-by-night places that were cheaper, but I trust McClintock and I don't mind paying a little bit more. I think they run around the same as most of the places.

I got quotes from 4 different companies to replace my furnace and a/c. I chose McClintock because their price was in the middle and because they seemed to want my business more than any of the other companies. During the installation, they were timely, considerate, clean and hardworking. Charles, the salesman and Rob the owner both came by to check in on how things were going. When a filter box they installed didn't work out as planned, Brian the installation manager went back and designed a new one which works great now. They were really concerned with making sure I was happy with everything, which I really appreciated. I was really nervous about the choosing a company to replace my HVAC as I know little about it. McClintock was a great choice in every way and I would definitely recommend them and use them again. So far my heating system is great and I'm hoping to see lower heating and cooling bills in the future!

The McClintock team did a fantastic job on the installation of my new unit. Each member of their staff was there to answer questions, provide insight, and make necessary recommendations for the best experience possible. From the initial sales visit to the moment my new unit was heating my home, no detail was overlooked. For example, the new unit required additional duct work to be installed, and the installation team made a thorough assessment of the situation which resulted in a new air return placed exactly to my specifications. But the service didn?t end after installation. Their installation manager was kind enough, despite his busy schedule, to make time to be present at the inspection scheduled two weeks after the work was completed. It?s this type of service that sets McClintock apart. I could not be more pleased with McClintock Heating and Air and the service they provide. I would gladly recommend them to others.

Scheduled appointment. Since it was not an emergency we agreed on one week out. I got the feeling that I could have pressed to have it sooner if my heat were not working. I was quoted a price for the tune-up and confirmed that the coupon available through Angie's List was usable. The normal price is $129 and they offer a $20 coupon. (Coupon must be printed and presented to technician). The service was scheduled for between 1:30 and 2:00. The office called at 1:30 to say that they were on their way, but the tech didn't arrive until around 2:30. He listened to my description of noises, etc and performed the service. The price was exactly as quoted on the phone.

I called in the morning to schedule an appointment and was surprised when I was told they could be out that same day after 2pm. I stayed at work and waited for a phone call since I was told they would call when they were on the way. At 3:30pm I decided to leave work early because I hadn't gotten a call yet. It was a good thing I did, because the tech arrived at my house right as I pulled in my garage, around 4pm. This was a non-issue, but it could have been a big inconvenience if I hadn't decided to leave work. The tech was very friendly and even gave my puppy some attention between trips to his van. After looking around in the attic at the furnace, he let me know that the igniter was working but was the wrong type for my unit. The problem was that the second and third burners, which are supposed to light off of the first, were not being lit in time (3 seconds) which was causing everything to continually reset. He replaced the igniter and test fired the burners a half a dozen times to make sure everything was now working. The price seemed a bit high to swap out one part, but I was told beforehand about the $80 diagnostic fee and then the $30 coupon helped to lower the bill! I plan to recommend this company to friends.

After getting 4 estimates, I chose McClintock to replace my 11 year furnace and air conditioning unit which required a new touchscreen thermostat. Charles from McClintock came out gave me an estimate with a few different options. I believe they offered the best level of equipment for the price compared to the other estimates I received. After I accepted there offer they where able to installed the new system the next week. The old outside condenser unit had smaller copper piping that would not support the new unit so they had to run new piping. Due to this, I decided to have them move the outside air conditioning unit to the side of the house from the back that was next to the master bedroom and was very noisy. This required a new electrical run, new pad along with the copper piping to the side of the house. The furnace was installed in the attic replacing the old one, they moved the new one closer to the back giving me more storage in the attic. They also replaced a smaller 4" duct line with a 6" line. The installation went well, there were no problems that I was aware of during installation. It took two full days to complete the installation. Everything was very neatly installed with the electrical and plumbing; it was a very professional job. The city inspector come out a week later and found no issues. After a month with the new system running there has been no issues and I am very happy with the results.

It went very well. Everyone we dealt with was very professional, and I was impressed that the owner, sales rep, and project manager all stopped by on the day of installation to make sure the project was going smoothly. Although we had a few glitches with the installation (a leak from a pipe not tightened properly, problems getting the new filter grill covers to fit, a broken threshold when the furnace was installed), the company corrected the problems and worked hard to make things right. They are highly service-oriented and do everything they can to create a positive customer experience.

Fantastic Experience! My wife and I had a tree fall on our house, and part of it clipped the air conditioner unit. I looked into repairing the unit, and decided it was time to replace the entire system, which was nearing the end of its life cycle. I called a couple companies after researching on Angie?s List, including McClintock. Charles (sales rep) showed up from McClintock. He is a great guy, and awesome to work with. No pressure at all, and provided nothing but information and experience to let my wife and I make the decision best for us. He came to the house initially and promptly, spending over two hours with me, studying our current HVAC system and looking into various options. We were dealing with black mold issues in the crawlspace at the time, where the old furnace and ductwork were located. I wanted a good air cleaning system put in with the new system to deal with the dander my 2 cats and 2 dogs provide. Charles is also a dog owner and lover, so we got along great. He gave us a very good quote. My wife and I contemplated and researched for a week. Charles answered all questions during that week, and even offered to have me over to his house to see his system and Trane Clean Effects air cleaner. He recommended this air cleaner, as well as new ductwork due to the fact we had some pretty major issues occurring with it. I decided to go with a hybrid gas\heat pump system with the CleanEffects filter\cleaner. I wanted to put in a zoning damper for the upstairs, but had some budget restraints, and couldn?t afford a split system. He recommended the variable speed furnace instead and to see how it worked first before going the extra step for the zoning dampers. I took him up on it. Lots of rebates on the Trane XV 95 furnace and XL16i cooling unit saved me thousands. I paid a little more under his recommendation to add the heat pump feature, which only uses the gas furnace when needed. This will pay for itself tenfold over the life of the unit. I was under a time restraint to have the unit installed within a week, due to the fact the mold remediation and crawlspace encapsulation was to take place the week after that. He had me scheduled in within two days! The installation went great. Paul and Devon (installation specialists) came out and explained everything to me before and throughout the process. They took their time, and had great pride in their work. I really appreciated that!! They pulled out one run of ductwork to make room for the new fresh air\exhaust line for the furnace. I took the opportunity to look at the inside of this arm of ductwork. Brian (McClintock?s engineer) was also on site with his check list. As I was discussing my concern with Charles (also on site) about possible mold issues within the ductwork, Brian came around the corner to discuss other options as well. I had asked that they quote me to seal up the existing ductwork to pressurize it, and he informed me it was at least a two day job, and also recommended I consider new ductwork instead, but told me they?d work with me either way. They quoted me a good price for the new ductwork. Although it wasn?t cheap, it wasn?t much more than the price it was going to cost me to have it sealed, re-insulated and cleaned (which is what Charles had initially told me). I decided then to replace it. When Paul and Devon pulled out the ductwork connected to the upstairs return vent, they found a five gallon bucket worth of dust. I also saw the den return, which looked as though a small dog had been stuffed in the vent. I then knew that we all made the right decision! Paul (the owner) also dropped by a couple times during the process to make sure everything was to my satisfaction and the job was going as planned. The entire job was completed within a week. The difference in my house is absolutely amazing! We feel like we have a new house. Everything they recommended to me is exactly what I needed! The air is unbelievably clean now. No more dog smell, and no more allergies!! The duct pressure issues have corrected themselves, and we now have air making it to the second story, which we did not have before. McClintock is top notch? They cut no corners, and use the best products. Everyone I have worked with over there has been great. I have no more worries regarding the HVAC system in my house, as they have 24\7 service backed up by a full parts and labor 10 year warranty. One less thing for me to worry about, and I can now live in comfort at a much more affordable price! One other note? They had nothing but good things to say about their competitors, which told me a lot about the company. What really sold me were the people, the product, the service and their passion, pride and knowledge of the product they sell. They all worked as a team, and had full respect for each other as well. I?ll recommend them to everyone, and will use them again should I move to another house in the area.
Description of Work: De-installed old furnace, A\C unit and duct work under house. Installed new Trane furnace, A\C-Heatpump unit, Trane CleanEffects air filter\cleaner, new duct work, sealed all existing duct work in attic, sealed around all vents, installed new return filtered vent in den.

Excellent experience! From Randy in Sales to installers to office personal everyone was very professional and clearly wanted to be sure that I was informed and happy with the purchase and their service. The installation went smoothly no problems and the installers went out of their way to make sure I was kept informed of progress, educated about how the equipment worked and insured that any questions I had were clearly addressed and answered. The followup from both office personal and Randy have been excellent to make sure I had no questions or any issues that had arrisen since time of install. I had read past Angie's Review of this company which is one of the reason I chose them and they have certainly proven that they value their reputation and strive to ensure every customer is treated with honesty, integretgy and great customer service. I would very highly recommend them to anyone in need of a company who truly respects and values their customers and provides excellent service. I did get multiple quotes before deciding on McClintock, they provided a very good offer on the equipment and backed it up with great customer service, now that's my kind of company! I'll be with McClintock for many, many years to come...

We researched and got several bids for our new system. We learned our 2 story 3,000 + sq ft home original duct work was not properly installed nor the second floor flow correct when it was built. We opt'd for a 4 ton Trane Hybrid 16 seer system. Other a/c bids had NO idea about this new technology as well as encouraged us to spend $6,000 more for a second unit for the 2nd story a job costing more than $14,000. McClintock were on top of their game. They blew away other WELL known named companies in the area. They were also surprisingly the more affordable option. Trane's Hybrid system is electric a/c and heat pump. The gas kicks on when 40 degrees or below. The guys that came out from start to finish were professional , clean and very knowledgeable. The guys even replaced duct work as well to better cool/heat the second floor. Wow what a difference! They even painted an area in the back of the house where the old unit once stood to make it look better which the new unit did not cover. They CARED about our home like we do. It has been a year since our service was done. Maintenance regularly. Our energy bill is never over $135 and our gas is never over $25. This system has saved us over $1300 during this hottest summer and coldest winter this year alone! We are totally blown away by their successful installation, product and year's to date use of the product. Call them and use them! Also they have excellent inspection reports by the permit guys who come out to inspect their work. Their errors are 0! Common names in the area such as Morris Jenkins, Brothers have LOTS of errors and are back to their sites to repeat their mistakes repeatly before its/ I F ever corrected. As with any company-make sure they are actively and currently licensed to do what they advertise themselves to do. Call McClintocks today!

Mclintock is a Trane Comfort Dealer and that is all they sell and install. The salesman was professional and sold us on McClintock. We got proposals from many other competitors. Since our air handler is located in an internal closet, we asked that a manager of installation come for a visit to confirm that the Trane unit we had selected would fit into our closet. The salesman came with his manager of installation who measured the closet and confirmed the air handler would fit and recommended that we let them increase the size of our main return vent. We signed on the deal right then. I was then contacted by an installation scheduler by phone to set a date. I learned from her that they have no inventory of products, but only ordered the parts we needed to arrive at their warehouse just before installation. I checked the equipment after installation and it was manufactured in Tyler, Texas in September 2010. We were impressed. Our date of installation was only October 12, 2010. A lead installer and a helper were at our door at 8:03a.m.on Monday October 11, 2010 and were totally prepared and efficient in their work method. They obviously had uninstalled older units and replaced them with their Trane units in CLOSETS before coming to us! They covered all our hardwood flooring with cardboard and tarps. They were very respectful of our property and were extremely careful. They moved anything they thought could possibly be damaged in their efforts. Mr. Ryan Tino was our lead installer. He was professional and obviously experienced and his interpersonal skills were impressive. I trusted both men in my home so much, that with having a sinus headache, I went back to bed upstairs as they sawed and banged away at metal to remove the old existing air handler. Yes, I do sleep soundly! By the end of Monday, they had the new air handler installed and were leaving at 4:30 p.m. to go back to their warehouse shop to fabricate metal necessary for our specific installation. Mr. Rob McClintock (company owner) stopped by on Monday while I was sleeping to see the sight and inspect the status of the installation. Unfortunately, I didn't meet him, however, he did call me on Tuesday to see if I was satisfied with the efforts of his installers. I told him I was very pleased and impressed with their professionalism and their skill level. Tuesday morning they were back bright and early and our salesman came to see how the job was going and brought me roses from his own garden. This company puts customer satisfaction at a new high standard. After the salesman left for an appoointment, the installation manager, Mr. Brian Davis, came with my new larger return vent and a six month supply of filters--no charge. A this point both the air handler and the compressor were ready to be connected to power. A new circuit breaker had to be located and purchased to accomplish this mission. Mr. James Dykman was here at that time who provides quality assurance of the entire installation, left to purchase this new breaker. He inspected all the wiring connections inside and outside both the handler and the compressor before they were closed and put into operation. With a two speed compressor and a variable speed fan in the air handler, this entire Trane system is run by computer in your thermostad which is a LED screen. We couldn't believe you set the temperature you want the house to be for both heat and cooling and the amount of humidity you will accept in the house before the system comes on to remove the humidity and then You Forget It! The entire experience was very impressive and professional and one of the best investment decisions we have ever made. Thanks to Charles Gravely, our salesman, Ryan and Nick, our installers and to Brian, James, Rob McClintock and Kimberly for a Major Job Well Done! You all have secured our future business and we will be happy to spread the good word about McClintock Heating, Cooling and Electrical!
Description of Work: Our 14 year old air handler and compressor were no longer able to peform at peak efficiency. At each maintenance check for over a year it was recommended that we replace both units due to age. We were also told that the freon that our current system uses was no longer produced. Our electric bills kept going up and with a federal tax credit in effect, we chose to compare providers of heating and air equipment. McClintock provided the best pricing on the brand we wanted--Trane. We also checked with the BBB and Angie's List before selecting McClintock. We picked the date for installation in October when our temperatures are comfortable both day and night. In two days time we had a great Trane system installed

I obtained quotes and met with 3 vendors before selecting McClintock. Randy's experience, knowledge, and low pressure approach had me leaning toward them right from the beginning. Then their quote and corresponding warranty on the Trane products clearly impressed me more than the other vendors. Their installation team was great and professional, and clearly knew what they were doing.

Response from McClintock Heating & Cooling
We are sorry this member doubts our findings. Unfortunatly, bugs are a common problem in outdoor equipment. Since we did not charge the member for the 2nd repair we are not sure why the member feels distrust of our findings; however we wish him well and hope that we can assist him in the future.

Excellent! I waited a year to publish my report as I wanted to evaluate the systems installation for both the winter and summer months. I could not be more pleased with the product and installation. i evaluated the utility bills for the past year and the electricity bill was higher during winter but that was to be expected as the gas bill was drastically lower than normal given the dual fuel heat pump installed. also, the utility bills during the summer were lower than I had with the old 8 seer system and it was much cooler / comfortable in the house with the variable speed unit. the installers and sales people were excellent....The owner Rob came out to ensure all things were in order and corrected items that were not up to his standards. the key that sealed the deal was the installation record from the county inspectors. check out their record compared to the other installers! Thanks Rob and team :)

The technicians showed up on time every day (this was a 3 day project) and kept us in the loop throughout the entire process. It was 95 degrees outside and they were very meticulous in their work. We would definitely hire them again and you should too. They also followed up afterwards to make sure that everything was running smoothly. It's refreshing to know that there are still companies out there that truly care about delivering good service.
Description of Work: Wonderful experience from start to finish. The salesman (aka comfort consultant) was very thorough, knowledgeable and we felt confident hiring them to replace our 25 year old A/C unit.

We obtained about 4 estimates and decided to go with McClintock because we liked their price and product (Trane furnaces). We liked the fact that their sales representative didn't push us to change out or upgrade our AC units. In fact, when we told him that another company suggested that we needed a newer and larger AC unit, he said that our new furnace would essentially help make our AC units function better. McClintock scheduled us quickly and were punctual and responsive. When they replaced our furnaces, they ended up lifting all of the ductwork in our attic off the ground at no extra cost (which gave us more floor space in our attic). Initially, we were extremely pleased with the work. However, over time, we found that the new ductwork hasn't proven as efficient as our old ductwork. Our upstairs airflow isn't as good as it used to be...we seem to have more disparate temperatures in rooms than we did before. And we've discovered that the company which said that our AC until wasn't powerful enough to cool our upstairs was correct. Even with a new furnace, our AC unit often hasn't been able to adequately cool our upstairs (but please note that it has been an outrageously hot summer). McClintock has been extremely responsive about our issues and even sent somebody to check our upstairs airflow issues for free two times; however, our airflow still isn't great. We also bought a service plan from McClintock because our downstairs ac unit is on its way out. McClintock has been extremely responsive to our service requests, and I generally think that their prices our fair. However, we recently had roofers turn off a switch to our HVAC system by mistake. I called McClintock, and they came out right away. They told me that they'd charge me $79 for coming out, no matter what, which I think is fair. When they came out, they immediately discovered that a switch had been turned off, flipped the switch, and then charged an extra $28 (in addition to the $79) for flipping the switch. That is all that they did. When I asked the man who came out if he could ask his boss if I could pay the $79 service fee and nothing else, he said that he called the office and they told him that he needed to charge a minimal fee in addition to the $79 service fee. He said he'd give me a "break" by only charging me $29 extra for flipping the switch. In the end, the roofing company picked up the tab for this, but I do think that McClintock should, at the very least, have confined their charge to $79, especially since all they did was flip a switch.
Description of Work: McClintock installed two new furnaces for us. We also bought a service plan from them and have called them to service our AC units.

When I got back home around 6pm, I found our AC broke down. It was about 86F inside house. I called several companies for emergency service. McClintock is the only one respond me within 30 minutes (just as they say in their voice message: "we will call you back in 30 minutes"). The service engineer James gave me a call, explained me the price for emergency service and told me when he will arrive my house. He was on time. He did an inspection first, then described the problem and possible solution to me. He answered all my questions in detail. A very knowledgeable and professional man! Of course, he fixed the problem. My house is cool now. :)
