Description of Work: McClintock did system analysis and quote on my current air conditioning system. The consultant, Charles Gravely was very informative and offered a more detailed description and explanation of the different options available than other companies that were asked to quote. Very satisfied with his expertise.

 + -1 moreNeeded some minor repairs - the blower had pulled away from the furnace and he checked for carbon monoxide emissions. The furnace is old but working fine and should get us through the winter.
Description of Work: Just bought an oldish house that had been sitting empty. The furnace passed inspection but we needed to know how clean it is and if there were problems the inspection didn't cover. There were. Rick was quick and efficient and answered all our concerns.

Having used another Trane dealer to replace my entire heating and cooling system about 10 years earlier, when my compressor went out and I had to get a new A/C system installed, I got estimates from the company I had been using as well as from McClintock. McClintock's quote was lower for a system that was more efficient and had more features than the one quoted by the old company. Moreover, they pointed out a design flaw in the system the prior company had installed that had caused issues with the airflow through the multiple zone system my house has. The system they replaced my old unit with resolved that issue and will save me money by allowing the system to run at a reduced capacity when that is all that is needed. The prior company wanted to sell me a unit just like the one I had before ... and at a higher price! The McClintock team was prompt, professional, thorough and truly gave me the feeling that my satisfaction is important to them. I am very satisfied with their service and would recommend them to anyone!

Description of Work: McClintock completely replaced our 20 year old heat pump system, including an outside condensing unit, air handler, heat strips and thermostat ($6,587). They also replaced our 40 year old attic fan ($450).

 + -1 moreOn a very cold morning in January I noticed smoke and a funny smell coming from the outside condensing unit. I noted a special fromMcClintock Heating and cooling. I called to get an appointment and purchased the special for the anticipated visit. I was called very quickly by a technician who said that what I was describing was common for heatpumps in cold weather and that it would clear itself up fairly quickly. He said that he could come if I wanted to but to save some money I might want to wait a bit and see if he wasn't right about the 'self correction'...........he was! If they were not honest they certainly could have come and claimed there were all sorts of problems and run up a big bill. I appreciated the honesty and getting back to me so quickly. I still have the $69 visit and will certainly use it this spring when I would do the normal change of season servicing. Honesty is very important to me. I will use them again.

 + -1 moreI decided that since the maintenance/diagnosis from the start was faulty that I did not want McClintock to return. So even though the $298 package I bought includes a springtime inspection & cleaning, I do not want them back in my home.The package was sold as "nonrefundable" so I am not asking for or expecting any refund, But I was very disappointed, & got another company to fix the heating problem (with a new valve and a thermostat.). Update 2/08/2013: Today I received a refund check for the entire amount I spent along with a letter of apology from McClintock, signed by the owner. I appreciate this amends, & as a result have upgraded my overall experience grade as well as the professionalism grade of the review above. Thank you.
Description of Work: Due to recent rennovations causing dust, I had just finished having the HVAC ducts cleaned by another company. But a week later the furnace air was cooler than usual.. I called McClintock since I had used their coupon last summer for my daughter's condo a/c problems with good results.. After I talked with their receptionist I decided to buy their package for maintenance since it had been over a year since cleaning the HVAC. I was told, & expected, to pay more if a problem was found.. To make sure they had experience in our unusual condo HVAC systems, I described our water pipe based heating & cooling system. They said they could service it properly. The service person scraped deposits from the inner areas of the HVAC units to clean them (we have 2) but did not vacuum out what he scraped loose. As a result,, when the heat was turned back on later, I discovered sooty ,greasy particles had come out of my air ducts, noticeable in a bathtub having air ducts above it as well as on newly carpeted areas in bedrooms. In additiion, the service person said there was nothing wrong with the HVAC, but it continued to blow air that was cooler than usual. I called the next day, very upset, to report my problems, & the owner came out to inspect the situation. He apologized when I showed him the sooty particles, and diagnosed the lack of heat as needing a new valve. He advised me he would call later when he found the cost of replacing the valve,which he did.

 + -1 moreI decided to replace both the upper and main level furnaces before the start of the cold season. Called in McClintock to give me an estimate and a plan on how to remove and replace both units including the one in the attic. Marlon LeFevre, Comfort Consultant for McClintock, met with me and surveyed both units. He then put together a full plan including how they would proceed and what to expect. His estimate included all of the credits and rebates available to me so that I had a full and complete understanding of what the final cost would be to me. Prior to starting the work, they inspected both areas and advised me when they would be able to start as well as what to expect. They arrived right on time and proceeded to complete removing and installing both units in exactly the time they estimated with minimal inconvenience to my family. McClintock followed up a short time later with an inspection to ensure the units were working as promised. I am very pleased with the outcome both in work performed and cost.

 + -1 moreI contacted McClintock Heating and Cooling as well as two other companies for an estimates. McClintock was extremely timely on the appointment time and totally went through their estimate. They were not the highest nor the lowest on their estimate but I liked their approach to my problem. The job was scheduled in a timely manner and completed the same day. In addition to their work, they replaced the container under my air conditioner to one that went under both units. They instructed me on the operation of both the carbon monoxide monitor and the controls for the temperature control panel. The company set up for an city inspector to inspect the work that had been done.....and the job passed without a problem! I would not hesitate to have them do further work on my home nor would I hesitate to recommend them to other people.
Description of Work: My furnace broke in those cold day's back in early December and I came home to an exceptionally cold house.

The technician arrived on time, he was very courteous and professional and explained to me what needed to be done. Two capacitors needed to be replaced - he had the parts on his truck and within 30 minutes he was finished. The company honored the online coupon. Overall experience was excellent, I will certainly call them again for any future needs.

 + -1 moreOverall, it was a very good experience. They started (showed up) on the exact day and time stated in the contract, and performed a very good job. The only minor problthey the service asem was that when the city's inspection came over a week later to check the new system to make sure it complied with the city codes and requirement, he noticed that there was a small air leak near the furnace. He called the company's representative up and they came over in a day or two and sealed the leak.
Description of Work: Our heating and air conditioning was replaced. This included taking the old system out, cleaning, the areas, installing a new system.

He also identified the source of excessive noise coming from the heating system. He quoted the replacement part and advised me on the age of my system.
