McClintock Heating & Cooling

Our downstairs AC stopped blowing cold air. I called up another company, they found the freon level was low due to a leak and that it needs to be replaced. I wanted to get a second opinion and found about McClintock Heating and Cooling in Angie's list. They offered free second opinion. As it was busy season it took a couple of days for the technician to be scheduled. The technician checked and said there was a leak in the outside condenser coil and came up with the same recommendation of replacing the unit. I was then contacted for a sales visit. Rob McClintock, the president of the company himself came to meet. He went over the different options and gave me a quote. I followed up in emails and calls regarding questions I had. He was very prompt in replying. I also got Angie's list coupon applied to my quote. I compared quotes from few other HVAC companies and finally decided to choose McClintock based on competitive pricing, better equipment, warranty and good reviews in Angie's list. The install appointment was given about two weeks later. I was hoping an earlier appointment but couldn't get it sooner as the install team was busy with prior appointments. In the meantime, I was offered a free window air conditioner during the wait time to help cool a little bit. I really appreciated this, can't think of a better way to take care of a customer. Few days prior to the appointment the install team lead stopped by to take some measurements and also said he will include a CO detector as it will be required as per code. On the day of the appointment, two members from the install team came in the morning, explained what they are going to do, got to work and completed everything by mid afternoon. They were very professional, enjoyed their work, made sure the unit was cooling properly and cleaned up. They also gave me tips of how to maintain the outside unit. The county inspector stopped by a couple of days after and had no issues to report. Overall the work was done as quoted, no surprises, no cross selling. In fact Mr. McClintock didn't even insist that I buy their maintenance plan. I'm very happy with all aspects of my experience with McClintock - diagnosis, sales, customer service and install. I will highly recommend them.

My upstairs unit quit cooling. I looked on Angie's list for someone that I felt would come out and give me a honest and reasonable answer on what was wrong. I have had other A/C companies come out in the past and replace parts that I found out later were perfectly fine. McClintock did not let me down. They were prompt, professional and did an easy fix. Although our unit will probably have to be replaced next year (it's 14 years old) they were able to just refill the freon this time to get us through the rest of the season. I just check my upstairs and where it was 83 degrees up there yesterday at this time it is now very cool!!! Thank you guys.

Totally pleased from start to finish. Sales rep and Installers were professional and punctual. I was getting estimates from another company at the same time and the difference between the character of the people who came out was dramatic. No doubt I will use McClintock for any further a/c needs.

Over the last 40 years we have used a number of local HVAC companies for maintenance and new systems for houses we have owned. In Charlotte. In our experience McClintock is head and shoulders above the rest in terms of responsiveness and quality. In this case they installed the system when they promised with no surprises. Their crew was professional. Their work was neat.

There were two people that came out and the job took a few days to complete. They hauled away the old units and left the area clean. They were professional and got the job done right. The price was a little below several other estimates I received and they did NOT try to sell me something I didn't need unlike some other places. In fact they recommended I keep my old ducting instead of replacing it which would have made them more money. To me that's a sign of a good company.

We got an estimate from three providers and decided to go with McClintock. A week later three installers showed up around 9 am and they took out our old A/C and Furnance. They came in and went right to work. They laid out covers on the carpet going up the stairs so they wouldn't leave a mess. Took an hour break at lunch time and came back finished the job., They were done before 3 pm. It was a lot faster than I thought it would be. They cleaned and vaccuumed before they left. Took all the old stuff with them and showed us how to work our new thermostat. Very nice guys. Our new A/C system works better than our old one ever did. We are very happy with our new system.

I called McClintock to give me a quote on a new unit due to the fact that the first company I called came out and said that's what I would need to the tune of $5000+/-. Rob took time out to speak with me and quote similar equipment but also said they could come out and give me a 2nd opinion free of charge. Turns out the unit (circa 1992) COULD be fixed and instead of a bill for $5000, it will end up being about $400. They could not have been more kind, competent, or on-time. I was blessed to have a very mild week for my a/c unit to go out, and McClintock made my weekend!! I will definitely use them again!

I have used their service for 2 years. They did a good work. I got competing prices and they were the best. They are good. They are fine with professionalism.

In the fall of 2012, there was a problem with our residential HVAC unit. We found McClintock on Angie's list and used them to diagnose the problem. McClintock recommended that we purchase a new HVAC unit and represented that a new unit would last us several years. We followed their recommendation and purchased a new residential HVAC unit thorough McClintock. The work was prompt and the individuals were very courteous. The price was the same as the quote. However, less than 2 years later, our new HVAC unit has stopped working. We called McClintock and they came out immediately and fixed the issue - which was an electrical wiring issue, unrelated to the unit - at no cost to us. GREAT SERVICE!!

I've used McClintock several times for service, repair, and now replacement of an HVAC unit. They are always professional, prompt, courteous, and have never come across as greedy. I've had service calls where they've come out and done small work without even charging me anything. They seem like an honest group of folks.

Chris was very professional and thorough. He told me what he had checked out and the conition he found the unit. I was thankful for his reminder to change the filter more often, explaining the implications if it not changed on a timely basis.

He provided great customer service. He told me there was a leak that will get worse over time and I would eventually have to get that addressed.

The service went great. However I don't like the fact that I never received a call in the morning to let me know what time frame I could expect the repairman. I was told I would get a phone call the day before the service call to confirm - I didn't get that. Then I called at 10am on day of service call and was told they don't give time frame they just call you when the repairman is on the way. I don't like that - I need to know a general time frame i.e. morning or afternoon. I did like getting a call telling me the repairman is on the way.

I am not a current customer, and my A/C is still functioning, just not great. Since it wasn't an emergency and this is late June, I wasn't sure how soon they could work me in on a 90+ degree day in June. Luckily, they were able to come out about 3 hours after I called, which I thought was great. Another company I called scheduled an appointment for 5-6pm tonight, which was fine, but McClintock came sooner so I canceled the other service call. The technician did some preliminary checking, found no issue with the outside unit. But he expressed surprise it was functioning at all because it was about 4 lbs low on Freon. He asked if I wanted him to find the source of the leak ($199), and I asked him to proceed. He said 90% of the time the source is the coil, and that held true in this cause -- two places on the coil tested for leaks. He offered some alternatives, and didn't try to push any particular agenda. We asked him to replace the coil, and so they've placed an order. Should be back next week to do the install. Meanwhile he added some Freon today to get us through the next few days, which are all predicted to be 95-degree days. Very courteous and professional.

When our air conditioner system failed, we saw that on Angie's List, McClintock Heating Cooling & Electrical Inc had a large number of customers who had given them a high rating. After calling and arranging a meeting during which their representative listened to all my and wife's concerns and needs and patiently answered all our questions, he followed up with a written proposal containing several options. Each option was explained in ample detail without any pressure on the choice we should make. In due course, a date for installation was scheduled, two technicians were assigned to remove the old and add the new system. The work was completed in one and one-half days. All members of the company were always polite, responsive to questions, dedicated to quality workmanship, and inspiring of confidence in their professionalism. Afterward, calls were made to determine if we had found the system to be working correctly and later a technician was sent to do a complete check of the system.

The visit went well my advisor took about 15 min explaining to me m options with my ac unit. He was very nice and punctual: in the end the price quoted was much higher than the competitors.

We've been with McClintock for several years now, for our annual HVAC checkups. They did an exelllent job with replacing our entire second story AC system last Fall (2013). They're local, & they have always been very responsive, professional, & personable. I wouldn't consider using any other company for our HVAC needs.

We are always so pleased with the service at McClintock. From the office staff to service, everything is a breeze. This time when I called at 8am, they were at my house by 10:15am and resolved the issue quickly. It's nice to know I can count on them. We just renewed our contract as well and they do a very thorough job of inspecting and cleaning each part. Very pleased and I highly recommend!!

All went well. Randy Race in sales is professional, pleasant and informative. He always got back to me in a timely manner. I appreciated that I did not have to wait long for an installation date -- just a week. The installers were professional and pleasant, and left no mess. The owner Rob McClintock cared enough to come out on day one to see how everything was going, and sent a letter of appreciation for using McClintock. Ryan was also professional and pleasant when he dropped off and picked up the ladder for the inspector's use. Everyone was as timely as can be considering traffic in the morning. Lisa in the office is always professional and sweet.

We got many different quotes for an A/C unit, everyone seemed to pitch different things. Things we needed and things we didn't need. McClintock quoted us what we needed and let us know about other options if we so chose. Nothing pushy, just very informative and didn't bash the other guys, unlike the other guys. We decided to use them and everything went smoothly and professionally. We have two units and will definitely use them again when it is time for the second unit to be replaced.

While the work led to our home being flooded, the owner refunded our money for the humidifier and service contract which we felt was fair and also offered to pay for any out of pocket insurance issues that we faced.

They're on time, professional and answered the questions that we had in installation job. It was a good experience.

It took several visits and then broke again a few months later. I hired a new contractor and he showed me how the technician had put the fan blades in upside down.
