It went perfect. They did everything that I expected. They gave me a 10 year warranty on the parts, 5 year labor, 10 year compressor coil warranty, and lifetime on the heat exchange. They worked very hard, and left the place in very good shape. They were really good to work with. This was my first time using them. It was easy to get a hold of them over the phone. They were on time for both the estimates, and the work. It was really easy to work with them, and I do not say that often. I would highly recommend them. I had gotten a couple other estimates, but I decided to go with this company. This was based on price, and customer service that made me select them.

Tommy arrived promptly and determined that my condenser unit pump/motor was seized. He tried valiantly to get it going but it just wasn't going to happen. An appointment for a quote was scheduled. Randy came by and quoted replacing just the condenser and coil and also replacing the entire system. I also had two other quotes from other companies. Randy's was by far the most complete. He was the only one who did a complete assessment (Manual J). Randy was so easy to work with. He was very patient and answered all of my questions to my satisfaction. In the end I felt confident that I understood what was needed and what I was getting. I elected to replace the condenser unit and coil. The assessment showed that my old condenser and coil were slightly undersized. Note that the difference in cost to up-size was trivial. The other two companies did no assessment and didn't find this. McClintock also discovered that my existing return vent was too small even for what I originally had. Again, the other companies did not find this. When adding the second return vent, McClintock even replaced the original return vent so both filters would be the same size and the two covers would match in appearance. All of this work cost no more than my other two quotes. And I got Trane equipment to match my heating system which would not have been the case with the other two companies. They ran new wiring for the thermostat and replaced the old one with one of the modern, internet enabled ones. It is not self-training like a Nest. But the Trane thermostat that McClintock installed is good looking, easy to use, has some very nice features and works quite well. In the end they also discovered that my old thermostat had been incapable of making the most of my heating system. The two stage heating was basically disabled. Wow! Now it all works. The other thing that really impressed me was how hard they worked to move us up in their schedule. Their timeline was the furthest out when I got my quote. My system broke on one of the first hot weeks of the year. So they were getting many calls from folks like me who discovered their system didn't work. They provided window units for the interim. Then, they moved us up in the queue due to a cancellation. Then they moved us up again when they finished a job early and could get to our house the afternoon before they had planned. An army of people showed up at about 2:00 pm and we had AC by 5:00 pm. A small crew did some finish up work the next day. In the end, in my case, the other two companies would not have finished the job any sooner. I'm very happy with my heating and AC system now. And wow! What great service!

Our A/C stopped and we struggled through one night of internal temps in the mid nineties thinking that the system might thaw out and start working. It didn't. I called McClintock the next morning and Kevin came out right on time. Kevin was very thorough and did a great job of answering my questions and investigating all possible causes of system failure and being very thorough. He knew I was leaving town the next morning and called early to follow up to be sure that everything was working - never had that level of professionalism before. We have an old system and it had another issue the very next day (Sunday) and Chris was on call and came out and we had a similar experience - I now have a trusted HVAC professional that I will continue to use.

I called them on Saturday and the earliest they could come out to look at it was on Sunday, which was fine. They came out and determined that it needed a new start capacitor for the compressor. The cost for this was over $320 and it fixed the problem, so I was completely happy and satisfied at that point. While they were here they mentioned it would be a good idea to have an AC Tune Up done on my unit, but that they would have to come back on a weekday and I could schedule that on Monday morning. We scheduled the AC Tune Up for Thursday of the following week. The technician came out and performed the Tune Up as scheduled, when he left things were still working perfectly fine as they had been since they first came out a week and a half prior. However, as he left he made this remark that I found odd at the time about me not having any issues with my A/C in the future. (It was the way that he said it and the look he had on his face, almost as if he knew I would but wasn’t telling me because he was the cause of them) The only technician I left alone at the A/C was him, and he was down there for nearly 2 hours. As it turns out, he didn’t even clean it properly as he used just water instead of the proper cleaner needed. The A/C worked perfectly until he was down there messing with it for 2 hours. If you don’t do the work properly and fully than don’t charge the customer for the work done, until it is done properly. Well wouldn't you know it that 24 hours later the A/C stopped working again. This time I called and they came out on Friday night. This technician was awesome, very friendly, helpful and knowledgable so a definite A+++ for him as he went above and beyond. He replaced and tested the dual value phase shifter for electronic motor. When he left, the A/C was working, but within a few hours it was back to not working. He came back on Saturday and ran some tests, and then said that the compressor was bad and it would need a very expensive ($3,000) new compressor or I’d need to buy a complete new A/C unit. They called Monday to confirm the prices and come by to give me a quote for the new A/C unit. ($5,900) He said the compressor could go at any time, but I found it extremely odd and convenient that it decided to go right after the cleaning guy was there for over 2 hours alone, cleaned it improperly, and then made some extremely odd comments to me as he left. I had to buy a portable A/C from Lowe’s for my bedroom, as it was extremely hot out (nearly 100) and I was without A/C for over 5 days. I then decided to call a competitor for a 2nd opinion, and am very thankful that I did so. I walked them thru everything that had happened so far, and they had some concerns with what was done up to that point. They then let me know what my best options were at that point, and I went ahead and let them take care of the problem for good, and for less than half what McClintock quoted me. (I haven’t had an A/C issue since) Overall, I don’t trust this company, way too many red flags. I was charged for a cleaning that wasn’t done properly, I was charged for parts I didn’t even need. (Nearly $700 for a service and parts that I didn’t need) Then they were hoping I’d buy an extremely overpriced new A/C unit or compressor from them. Absolutely ridiculous and I’d recommend searching Angie’s List for a competitor with good reviews, you won’t regret it but you and your wallet will if you decide to go with McClintock instead of a competitor. What a horrible experience and complete rip off!

They were disrespectful. They would not even quote or give any type of guidance for this SIMPLE, SPECIFIC request. They want you to pay $90 for a required inspection and then they will give additional quotes in person only. So the position they put me in is that I must pay almost $100 for a visit in order to get a price quote for a specific service. Then I'm face with accepting any outrageous quote in addition to the first fee, else, I will have to eat a $90 loss and move to the next company. Very poor business practice. Really preys upon the ignorance and circumstance of the customer.

I called McClintock on a Saturday summer afternoon after our thermostat suddenly malfunctioned and would not initiate our A/C to come on. I left a message and a technician named Brett returned my call within 15 minutes. Despite the fact that he was headed to another call and had multiple calls lined up after that, he took the time to listen to my issue, and helped me diagnose the problem over the phone. He even took the time to call back and walk me through a self-installation of a new thermostat; fielding all sorts of my questions. I was really surprised that someone would take this extra time to help someone out on a hot summer afternoon when he was quite busy. He was patient, super-knowledgeable and guided me to averting what otherwise would have been a long, hot day and night. Thanks for your help Brett and McClintock!

Our technician was Steve Carter. He was very nice and shared all details as he completed each task giving me options along the way. He discovered a leak that may not be worth repairing on an older system and I appreciated how candid he was in sharing what my options were short term and long term. The price of servicing/repairing air conditioning units is astronomically high in my opinion but I believe this is universal so I cannot rate this company below an A in any area. Thanks again Steve!
