Gowdy Electric

Chad is a nice guy with great customer focus. The firm seems to have a lot going on so scheduling with the office is not easy sometimes and has led to one missed appointment and 3 different electricians on the job which is not efficient for them or the home owner. They leave a clean job site and know what they are doing. soem of the finishing touches could be a bit more refined like level wall plates, flush wall plates. Overall we were happy and would use them again.

Their electrician was punctual and polite. He carried out the work as planned. When we noticed something was not right with the dishwasher electricals, they send him back out very quickly.

There was no existing electrical outlet for him to tie into so he had to punch several holes in the ceiling while snaking the wire to the switch. The technician, a very nice person, explained it was a fluke of the builder that the ceiling was constructed without easy accept to run the wires. It took longer than expected and cost more but I am very happy with the results and he will return this week for other jobs.

Initially they said they had to come out to do an estimate, but we couldn't get a mutual time scheduled, so he gave us a quote without actually seeing what was needed to be done. Made it more convenient for us. The quote was a little lower than the actual cost, but not unreasonable. We are pleased with the results and will use them again for future electrical needs.

Called Yvette with Gowdy Electric to make an appointment and she was able to work with my schedule. When I called her a few days prior to our appointment to see if we could add something extra to the work order she said that she would do her best to see that they could accommodate us. Sam, the technician was very considerate and called about 15 minutes before he was to arrive and asked if it was OK for him to come a little earlier. He was already here in the driveway! He had a list of things that we had requested, and we mentioned about the ceiling fan last-minute-request. He said he didn't think there would be any problem with that request. He assessed the jobs and immediately got to work. He had to go up in the attic numerous times to adjust and pull wire. All still being extremely patient with our questions being that it must have been well over 100 degrees in the attic while he was up there. Mid-way through the repairs, Chad at the main office called us to review the prices. There was an Angie's List coupon that we had originally considered using but with the amount of work that had to be done, he had said that we were going to go over that amount , but he was kind enough to extend a first time customer discount. Sam the technician was very organized and efficient. He explained everything he was doing and showed us how to work the equipment. He left the house extremely clean. He vacuumed and collected all the trash. (and, was able to complete the ceiling fan install too!) As private contractors go, this was a great experience for us and we will DEFINATELY use them again and recommend them to friends.

Overall though, Gowdy sent communication quickly after purchasing the big deal.

They did an excellent job. I will use them again in the future.

Scott showed up on time and was probably the most professional person I've ever had come for an estimate or services. He was extremely knowledgeable, friendly, and efficient. When I decide to get my electrical work done I will definitely use them and request Scott by name!

I liked them and I would use them again. There were no hidden fees, he came out and he didn't say, "Okay, this is just for the service call." I would rate them excellent.

excellent! i was very pleased with the promptness and professionalism with the technician, Chad. it took every bit of 2 hours to find and fix the problems. when it was all said and done, the issue was with the fixture and could not be fixed. for safety reasons he cut power to the fixture.

I purchased their "Big Deal" package, which was for 2 hours of electrical work for $170. I am so glad that I did. Rodney came to the house and got right to work. He is the nicest, most courteous and diligent worker. I actually enjoyed our conversations while he worked. My ceiling fans are up and working perfectly. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you. Totally recommend this company.

Purchased (2) Big deals first b/c I originally thought the work would take 4 hours. Gowdy got it done in less than 2 hours.

Absolutely fantastic! Called and got an accurate ballpark from the receptionist. She put me in contact with Chad to get a free estimate. Chad was able to give me a firm estimate over the phone, which was substantially less than any of the other top rated electricians in the area, yet for the same number of labor hours. Chad sent over a written estimate via email and I quickly scheduled him to come out to do the work. He called an hour before our scheduled appointment just to confirm and showed up right on time. We talked through the specifics of the job just to confirm the details and he got started. All we were having done was a re-wiring of a single vanity light into two vanity lights so there would be one light over each of the two sinks in our master bathroom instead of just one in the middle. He kept me up to speed as he completed the work and worked extremely clean. After the job was complete, Chad cleaned up and put together the paperwork. I paid exactly what I was quoted. All in all, this is exactly how service work is supposed to be performed. I could not be happier and will not hesitate to call Gowdy Electric the next time I need an electrician.

Overall, the work was done to expectation. Initial experience was good with a quick call I got someone to come out and give an estimate. After working for a discounted estimate to include Big Deal I unfortunately couldn't get ahold of anyone or get a quick call back. However, after getting ahold of Mr. Gowdy the work was quickly scheduled and complete within the time frame I was looking for. I think I paid more than I would have for the work I got done but the peace of mind I had with the individuals doing the work was worth that little extra.

Chad was great. He came in and I told him exactly what I needed done, and he was able to get straight to work and knock it out in a timely fashion. Fixtures are great and look seamless. Well Done job. I will be using them again for future installations.

Today, I completed a long waited and much needed work on my house. This completion represents a new milestone. I bought Angie's List and perused the offers over a few months to pick the right one. Not just the right price, but the right service and the best company to take on this older home full of quirky personality. I researched and prayed and studied for a while as I watched the offers come and go, gave much thought to what I needed and wanted, what I needed compared to who would be best to help me. I ended up with a wonderful local company, Gowdy Electric. The technician that came today was a big brother in his own family. He took care of his sister's house. He took very good care of mine too. I appreciate the time he took to explain what was wrong and what was right, what to do from here and who would best take care of it. He talked with me as if I was his sister, patient and easily able to field my constant questions and inquisitiveness regarding what he was doing. He was just the right person for my home. I picked a company on Angie's List that had a good rating. This company was not the cheapest, it was better rated. It's good not to always go cheap. I got good service for my money. I plan to have this same person come back later to complete a few more things we talked about later in the year when I can make a full day to work on the house again. I now have the home fully functional. There are no major problem in the house. I note, there are no MAJOR problem in the house now. The items that are left are mostly cosmetic, upgrades, changes in style and taste, but no major structural, plumbing or electrical issues in the entire house. This is first and I say a major accomplishment for this divorced woman managing a home and family on guts and prayer. Amen people! I gave myself a bowl of ice cream while I watched the news. My mind was actually at rest for a moment. Freed up mental space thought about new things. I relaxed a minute. Everything at my home is okay now. Feels real good!

The light fixtures were more complex than a typical installation. They were able to get them installed with quality work and in a timely manner. The guy performing the work also had to climb into a very tight space to get in my attic for the fan replacement. I was pleased with the work and would recommend them to others.

I spoke with Scott about a fuse box cover issue and he came out the same day to take a look. He gave us all of our options from the most cost effective (which meant he didn't have to provide a service) to the most expensive. He gave us an honest opinion and suggested a solution that would actually require no electric work. Who does that? Honest people, that's who! He didn't try to scam us out of money like some other electricians we called and he charged us NOTHING for coming out to our home to take a look at the problem. Though we didn't have any work done that day, in the future if we EVER need an electrician, we will DEFINITELY be calling Scott at Gowdy Electric. Because that type of honesty is very rare these days. And we'll be sending recommendations their way for sure. Thanks so much Scott!!!

The gentleman that came out was very polite and professional. I was given a refund for the electricians fee by Duke Pwr.

We realized there was no power at the switches and outlets in our daughter's bedroom yesterday evening. This morning we called Gowdy Electric and left a voicemail. They called us back within 10 minutes and were able to get us on the schedule for this afternoon. The technician arrived when expected and listened to the issue and quickly got to work. He looked at the sub-panel, the main panel and checked the voltage at the outlets around the affected room as well as along the exterior of the house (which he noted are sometimes tied to bedroom circuits). After the initial walkaround, he began a closer inspection of the outlets in the bedroom and identified the issue that was causing the disruption in the circuit, which was due to a loose neutral. He was here approximtely 45 minutes. Although I feel the price was a bit high for the amount of time / effort involved, it could have easily been more involved (a similar issue occurred in our master bedroom a few months back and cost us $350), so I feel overall it was fair. I could've called another company with a lower service call fee, but with some of those companies I have found that they charge you a set fee for the repair and it would've likely cost more than paying the $90 for this visit. The technician called his office and informed me that the 10% off coupon is only good for first time customers, but he did provide $5 off (which was about half the discount from the coupon). We have been more than pleased with this company's ability to quickly respond to issues and their work ethic once they are "on the clock". It may be less thorough than another company who uses a set fee schedule and then does a "full" inspection, but since we already know the cause of this issue and the potential issues that could arise, I feel very comfortable with the service Gowdy provides. This is the second time we've used them and they are definitely on the top of our list to call when electrical issues arise in the future. We also plan to have them do an estimate for a full panel replacement next week.

Sam with Gowdy did a fantastic job! I had a list of outlets that I had tried to replace myself that needed fixed. He also replaced some tester outlets and a dimmer light. He was extremely professional and tedious.

They did a really good job. They did great quality work, which I liked. They really worked with our schedule since we were having our cabinets replaced at the time. There was one technician here and it took about 3 weeks to complete the electrical work.

On Thursday evening (3/6/14), we noticed some of the lights in our kitchen and one of our bedrooms were not operating on "full" power and were occasionally flickering. A short time later, the GFI in the adjacent bathroom was triggered and we lost power. After we reset the GFI, the power returned to normal. We then woke up on Friday (3/7/14) to the same problem of "dim" lights and our coffee maker seemed to be struggling to get enough power from one of the outlets in the kitchen. We called several electrical providers and were unable to reach anyone directly. Gowdy Electric called me back within 30 minutes of my message and was able to get an electrician out to my house approximately an hour later. The electrician called prior to arriving and was courteous and professional upon arrival. It was a very rainy and muddy day and he diligently took off and put back on his shoe covers each time he had to go outside to our main panel and come back into the house. There was not a trace of wet or mud in the house. I decided to wait to purchase the Big Deal to see what the issue was and how much work was going to be required. I was informed that the service fee was $95 per hour and then $45 per half hour afterward. The technician spoke to me about what was going on and then got started evaluating what was going on. He measured the voltage at several outlets, checked the breakers in the relevant sub-panel and inspected the GFI outlet. He then informed me that he was going to inspect the main panel and was very considerate to ask whether I needed to turn anything off or save anything on my computer before he turned off the main power to the house. He identified the issue in the main panel and was able to restore full power to all of the rooms / outlets that were previously dim / flickering. He recommended replacement of the breakers that power the sub-panel from the main panel, but informed me that this repair was not urgent. This was useful because it was probably going to cost us an additional $100-150 to replace the breakers, but we plan to replace the entire panel within the next 4-6wks, so this saved us some money in the short term. He showed me the appropriate breaker to reset should the issue occur again and we discussed having his manager come out to give me an estimate on the panel replacement. I was pleased with the 10% discount for Angie's List customers and felt the service was reliable, professional, and trustworthy. I will definitely call them in the future. ,

The electrician was on-time and did what was asked for him to do in a professional, courteous manner.

Great they were on time, got the job done and were very nice. If I ever need service in the future they are the only ones I would call.
