Exterior Additions LLC

Being new to the Charlotte area, I didn't know who to contact to build a deck on my new home. I heard about Angie's List but didn't join at first. I did some research on the internet and came across Exterior Additions website where I saw a reference to Angies List. I joined just to read some of the reports. I was very impressed with what I saw so I contacted them for an estimate along with a few other contractors. It was an easy choice to make. Mark returned my call immediately. He met with me within a few days. We spent several weeks going over my ideas as well as some of his and decided on the stamped concrete and a screened porch. The project took longer than expected due to some unforseen delays, but Mark Foster kept in constant contact. Although the delays were frustrating at the time, the finished product was well worth the wait. The concrete floor is awsome. My dogs and I spend endless hours out on the porch. I don't think I would have enjoyed a deck as much as I do the porch.

Doug was on time for the estimate time and was courteous, however his estimate for the work was more than double the next highest estimate.

They were very professional in their dealings with us. They worked with us throughout the project to ensure we would be satisfied with the finished porch and deck. They also allowed us to do the painting ourselves to keep reduce our costs. When this extended the time line of the project out 6 months, Doug took it in stride. When the painting was completed, he scheduled the finish construction while we were away so we could enjoy the porch and deck when we got back from vacation. I will use Doug and Exterior Additions in the future for other projects. I highly recommend them.

Mark and Doug were very polite the entire time. I felt the price was fair and consistent with other bids I received. The crew started the project on time. The crew was polite the entire project and did a reasonably good job piling the trash and debris in a pile in the driveway. However, the project was supposed to take 6 weeks starting in mid-April per Mark Foster, and the project was not finished until July, more than twice as long as they stated originally. I would still consider them for additional jobs but would take more time to call them to check on progress and keep them on track.

Our overall experience with Exterior Additions from beginning to end was extremley positive. Doug Lynch runs an ethical company with knowledgable employees and contracting staff. Doug was great in the original meeting understanding our needs, drafting options in designs and pricing separately as well as providing bundle pricing. The overall work and Project Management was good for the deck and screen porch, and it was EXCELLENT when the indoor remodeling took place under a new Project Manager. The communication offered by both Doug and the second Project Manager was always timley, clear and accurate. The end result was a beautiful outdoor Screen Porch and Deck, as well as an awesome redesigned 2nd floor inside. While all this took place we had a infant in the house and the constuction provided very little disruption to our living areas and the workers did a 98% job of cleaning up daily. We appreciate the good management that Doug Lynch kept over his staff and on this Project.

After looking on Angie s list, we contacted several companies and got serious with two of them. Exterior Additions won out due to above average reports on Angie s List and our experience working out the design with Doug Lynch. Doug steered us away from a poor design that did not add much to the cost. Quality of work by Exterior Addition employees is very good and outstanding issues were taken care of in a timely fashion. Overall project took longer than I would have liked due to various personnel vacation schedules but we were kept abreast of the delays. The porch is a beautiful addition to the house that we have been enjoying for two months. When the time comes to sell our house, the porch will be a major selling point.

We talked to Doug on Friday and he told us that the job was going to be performed either on the following Tuesday or Wednesday and when I came home for lunch on Tuesday they were done with the job. The workers were polite and cleaned up the area. From the time we agreed on the price and to completion of the job it was less then a week.

The windows were very late in arriving but once they got here everything was done in an appropriate and timely fashion. Both Doug and Marc were professional and kept us informed about the progress of the project. Any concerns were immediately addressed. Any problems were handled quickly. The subcontractors used were professional and experienced. The quality of the end product is exceptional. We are delighted with the room. We had provided Doug and Marc with a picture of what we wanted and it came out as pretty if not more so. Would highly recommend this company.

Doug Lynch kept in close communication with us. His crew did a fine job and completed all details we had agreed upon. We are very pleased!

Doug & Crew built a Porch & Deck. I waited to review the job as I wanted to see how problems w/be handled post constr. We developed a leak in our Home which was in direct correlation to the add'tn. I'm disappointed in the slow response by Doug. I had to continually call him to get the repair scheduled. The gutters have been rerouted & the interior damage repaired by a person subcontracted by Doug. Doug has yet to call back to check to see if the repair was satisfactory. Accountability & C/S after the initial work is done is part of the process. We love our addition but are a disappointed in the lack of C/S & concern on Doug's part. Our home has never had a problem w/leaks in the f/room before. The leak made itself apparent after the lg. addition was added. After gutters were re-routed & additional flashing was installed, the problem, so far, has been taken care of. If he'd like to call & speak to me personally, I'd like that opportunity. I expect full warranty coverage on the addition.

We had a representative come and give us an estimate for a screened in porch in the March/April time frame. He agreed to get back to us in a week. It's June and they haven't returned our phone calls or emails. I would not recommend them to anyone I like.

Saw on Angie's List with High ratings and was very impressed with response, flexibility, convenience, professionalism, and high quality. The initial appointment showed Exterior Addition's commitment to excellence when they offered great suggestions and really listened to what my wife was wanting. They suggested a bit larger deck for greater use and were they ever right. We had scheduled weeks in advance around a moving/closing schedule as this was a new home and we needed the deck versus walking on red clay in the meantime. (not good with two young kids) Exterior Additions is top notch company and I will refer to friends and family and fellow Angie's List members. I personally believe it is worth a bit of a premium to get the upgraded Evergrain product to not have to hassle with regular maintenance and replacement issues so often. This has added so much value aesthetically to our home and backyard and will be great for entertaining.

Working with Doug and his workers was a good experience. The men were on time and courteous. And the project was completed ahead of schedule.

My husband and I toyed w/ either adding on to our home to increase the sq. ftg.& enhance the curb appeal or just selling it & using the equity to by a more suitable home for us. We called Ext. Ad. & Doug came out to give us an estimate. We cannot say enough about this POSITIVE experience!! Doug took the time to really listen to all of our ideas & explained how it would be difficult to get a return on our $$ in the neighborhood we live in, & how it would be better for us to sell the house & use the equity to buy another... He was so HONEST, extremely KNOWLEDGEABLE, & THOROUGH, and refused to charge us for his valuable time after spending over 1 & 1/2 hours to give us ideas on how we get the most out of the sale of our home!! In the future, if we ever need remodeling work done, or a new house built, we will not hesitate to call Ext. Additions. Professionals from start to finish. The crew could not have been more polite and responsive. They always kept me up to date on how things were progressing. They weren't only concerned with doing excellent work, they were concerned about me and how they were impacting my schedule and my time. When I requested that they do something extra, or make a little adjustment they complied happily and quickly. And the porch and deck are great!!! My neighbor watched them work every day. One day he told me if he were to ever have exterior work done, he'd only have 'my guys' do it. Exterior Additions starts his project next month!

Exterior Additions installed an amazing addition to our home. The final result of the enclosed screed back patio and open back deck is gorgeous. Before the project started, Doug originally presented numerous options and ideas for our back deck with different costs to fit our budget. Doug and his team were on time, polite and very friendly to work with. Our overall experience was nothing but positive. We plan on utilizing Exterior Additions on future projects with our home. I have and will continue to HIGHLY recommend Exterior Additions to anyone looking to upgrade, build or enlarge a back deck, sunroom or screened in patio.

From the initial phone call to Doug until the project was complete, I was completely satisfied. Doug and his team were very professional and delivered the job on time. I must also mention that the work performed was and is extremely high quality. I also think that his price was very fair. Doug has completed similar but larger projects for 2 my neighbors... And now he has 3 very satisfied customers on the same street!!!!

Exterior Additions from the owner to the subcontractors, placed customer service first. They made sure they knew what I wanted, used the best quality products and kept in touch regularly to make sure I was happy. The owner made himself accessible and answered all questions and made changes we requested. I trust his judgement and product with my life. In today's marketplace it is rare to find a company that delivers what it promises and makes customer satisfaction a core business practice. The building inspector also commented, ''I knew as soon as I saw it it was quality''. I agree.

We started interviewing companies for the construction of what we thought was going to be a simple deck replacement (and possible screened porch)last October. We talked to 5 companies total,four of which we got off of Angies List. Out of all 5 of these companies Exterior Additions experience, attention to detail, references,and portfolio were clearly the best. Another thing that we learned was that only two of the five companies actually had their North Carolina General Contractors License! When we chose this company it was clear that Doug had a vision of what the potential of our back yard could be. He wasn't satisfied in just giving us an estimate. He wanted to get a feel for what we as a family would enjoy functionally but also what design elements would look good. Doug Lynch was the epitome of what an owner/ field superintendent should be. Communication was clearly important. The workers were delightful,the job site always clean and the finished product is beautiful. Great project!

THEY MADE A POINT TO MAKE SURE THAT THE JOB WAS RIGHT SO THAT IT WOULD BE A DECK THAT WE WOULD BE HAPPY WITH FOR YEARS. WE HAD A FEW COMMUNICATIONS PROBLEMS THAT NEEDED TO BE RESOLVED BUT OVERALL, THEY DID DO WHAT WAS NEEDED IN THE END TO MAKE THINGS RIGHT FOR US. THE QUALITY OF THE WORK WAS WONDERFUL!!

Overall, our experience with Exterior Additions was great. We'd definitely call them again and have already referred them to some friends. We were impressed with their process, professionalism, and the pride they took in their work. Everyone that worked on the project was friendly and personable. The deck was completed exactly as we had hoped and in a timely manner. We are very excited about our new deck and look forward to entertaining our friends.

I could not be more pleased. It is one thing to have professional work done on your home, but an entirely different story when the service and attitude of the workers and owner match your expectations (and mine are high). Exterior Additions has excellent carpenters so you can rely on the fact that what you have drawn up is what you will get. They price things very affordable and let you know your options (example I upgraded to stainless steel screws). Time is crucial, but not worth sacrificing quality. For example, on my deck, the lumber yard delivered the wrong wood, the deck was partially built when the infraction was noticed and Doug (owner) said ''Don't care if this is going to cost me money, we want to redo the railing because if our name is going on this it has to live up to our standards''. This is pretty amazing because I thought it looked great before he did this, now it looks AWESOME! You are completely out of your mind if you don't call these guys!!!!

We are very pleased with the finished product, and only regret that we did not do this years ago. Doug was very responsive and answered all questions by e-mail, immediately, as the project progressed. There were weather delays, but well worth the end result!!
