The craftsmanship was great but be forewarned, the owner DOES NOT ANSWER and DOES NOT RETURN calls after the contract is signed. After the signing of the contract you are on your own. Like pulling teeth to get the electrician out to finish the job, along with all the other sub-contractors. A 4 month job took 9 months.
Description of Work: Carolina Exteriors built a large 28' X 28" detached garage along with adding to my existing deck.

He would not return phone calls.
Description of Work: Built an attached garage. What they built was absolutely beautiful. But they do not return calls. We don't know when they will come by. There has been times when I have not seen him for 3 weeks. This is very frustrating.

Description of Work: My wife and I worked with Doug to plan a brick 2 story finished out-building in our back yard. The upstairs was to be made into a large office and downstairs a recreational area with full bathroom. The total square footage was going to be around 1000 sf. It was also going to have a 250 sf covered patio. We were very comfortable with Doug and he had a lot of good ideas for the design. Unfortunately we decided that we were not financially ready to make this (near $90k) commitment right now so we did not have any actual work done. If we do decide to go ahead with this project in the future we will definitely talk to Doug again.

We had an amazing experience with this company. The people we dealt with were great. Everyone was so polite. The crew of guys who did the project was highly skilled. Their craftsmanship is amazing. We are going to need some work done this coming year. We already agreed that this company will be the first and only company that we call.
Description of Work: They built us a new 22 foot wide by 30 foot deep, 1 story detached garage with a work area and a cement floor with drain.

After we had the plan, contract, and permit, I would not get them to commit to a time to begin the project. I would keep calling him and he would have one excuse after another why he could not start. I finally just canceled the rest of the service contract because I was scared he would just run off with more of my money.
Description of Work: Carolina Exteriors helped me to choose a plan for a detached garage with work area. We created a contract and I paid the $2000 deposit.

DOUG MARSH IS ONE OF THE MOST KNOWLEDGEABLE BUILDERS I EVER MET. HIS BID WAS THE HIGHEST, BUT I CHOSE HIM ANYWAY. I ALSO HAD TO WAIT 3 MONTHS FOR HIM TO START BECAUSE OF HIS BACKLOG OF WORK, BUT I'M CONFIDENT IT WAS WORTH THE WAIT. DOUG HAS EXCELLENT PEOPLE SKILLS AND TOOK A LOT OF TIME EXPLAINING OPTIONS TO ME SO I GOT WHAT I WANTED AND NEEDED. HE ALSO WASN'T AFRAID TO TELL ME IF I HAD A BAD IDEA AND WHY. FOR EXAMPLE SINCE I WAS GETTING A LIGHT ATTIC STORAGE FLOOR HE SUGGESTED A HALF MOON WINDOW FOR THE FRONT GABLE TO PROVIDE NATURAL LIGHT. IT MAKES THE GARAGE LOOK A LOT BETTER AND REALLY HELPS WHEN I'M UP THERE. I WISH MY HOUSE WAS THIS WELL CONSTRUCTED.
