They were very responsive and let me know that I didn’t need any work as the deck was structurally sound.

I had to schedule about four times due to missed appointment on their end (several excuses about personal matters, which I understand but, they should be contacting me, not me contacting them. I am the customer who is paying), When they arrived, I described exactly what I needed done to my composite deck (railings replaced). Due to a problem with the manufacturer's material, the replacement material is being provided FREE of cost. I just need to find someone to do the work. Deck Pro's appear to be more concerned with replacing the entire deck. I told them a couple of things that I might want to have done optional, but, the main thing is the railings. It took weeks for me to receive their estimate and the estimate that I received was for replacement of the deck (NOT what I NEEDED done). When I phoned for an estimate for just the railings, it took another few weeks before I received that estimate. Both to me were unreasonably high. It appears that they do not want to be bothered with my business (at least that is the lasting feeling I have). I am VERY busy and for me to do all the contacting for them to even come out to see what needs to be done and to send me an estimate, was VERY POOR SERVICE at best. I would not recommend this company or even attempt to deal with this company again.

We were incredibly happy with the quality of work this company provided. We got quotes from 3 different companies (all of which were graded as A companies on Angie's list) and chose A Deck Above based on several factors. Obviously their quality of work looked impressive, they had good reviews, but they were the only company who seemed to realize that the code had recently changed for deck railings. They were actually the most expensive of the 3 companies, but we felt confident that we were going to get the best outcome from them. We had an architect design the deck (we felt it was important to keep the designer separate from the builder) and then gave the plans to A Deck Above. The crew showed up on time and were incredibly respectful. Unfortunately, what was originally going to take a week to do ended up taking a month (which was not the A Deck Above's fault). Once the old deck was removed, we found that there was a pretty substantial amount of rotten wood that needed to be replaced. The crew from A Deck Above was willing to do it, but we preferred to have a company who specialized in replacing what was needed to take care of the job. That set everything back over a week. When they were ready to begin again, one of the workers accidently broke his hand while using one of the tools. We had to wait for a new crew to become available. The new crew was just as respectful and experts in their craft. They could read the architects design plans without a problem and in the end we ended up with an incredibly sturdy, beautifully made deck! I have recommended this company to many people and will continue to do so. Everybody who has seen our deck is impressed, and we continue to be!

The two guys were prompt and professional and the deck looks great.

We had been discussing replacing our deck for 2 years. Our son was graduating and this gave us the push to get it done in time for a party. We contacted Kurt at A Deck Above who came out a couple of times to listen to our needs and provide us with ideas. By the time we made our decision, it was 10 days until graduation. Kurt assured us that he could get his team out and have the job complete within 7 days. They came out on a Monday and we were standing on our new a beautiful deck by Wednesday evening! They were professional, organized and cleaned the work-site each day before leaving, which impressed us. We are very pleased with their work and attention to detail. Our neighbors can't stop raving about how much they love what we did - we even had a new neighbor drop by to see it and request Kurt's contact information. We would use them again in the future, they completely exceeded our expectations!

Kurt and his crew are great, excellent work performed. The porch was finished on time, just as promised.I would recommend A Deck Above Inc. to anyone who wants to have a deck or porch build.Great job done by Kurt and his crew.

We have decided not to proceed with our project at this time.

We had a very positive experience. The job was delayed by a few weeks, but it was worth the wait. The men who came to work did a phenomenal job.

These guys were great. Always on time and very professional. They cleaned the job site daily.The deck we received was way beyond our expectations. We would highly recommend them and to use Trek decking.

The crew did an awesome job. Here early and worked clean. Two man crew banged out the job in no time flat. Confident and knowledgeable. Small hiccup with lumbar delivery but, quickly resolved with one of the owners delivering need supplies before any work stoppage.Jeff stopped by to check on work and called regularly to see how things were going. Great timing w the painter and process. Had the deck usable in a week. Jeff followed up and found a couple of things he did not approve of and had them re-done. 06/02/2011- Some sap is leeching from a couple of boards and there is one that has split and splintering. Jeff is coming to take a look and will swap out anything that is unsatisfactory.

Their estimate was for $26000. Our next door neighbors have used them and they were very satisfied with their services. Our family friends knew them and recommended them to us. We have seen them put other decks and screen porches in and around the neighborhood. They were reasonable. They responded promptly. The sales representative that came out was thorough and very approachable. We did not go with them to build it because of the established relationship that we had with another service provider on Angie's List.

Kurt is the owner and great to work with. He answered our questions throughly and professionaly and even allowed us to visit some of his past customers homes to look at their porches. He was very willing to meet us when it worked with our schedule and very open to our ideas. His crew was great, very nice, hard working with excellent craftsmanship. They did a great job of explaining each day what they had done and what they would be doing the next day. The actual contstruction was fast b/c there were three guys on site most days working hard all day. I would highly recommend A Deck Above! We spent more time researching this porch than we did deciding to buy the home! We had 5 quotes and most were within 5% (with a few outliers). We went with Kurt and team b/c I felt he understood the end product I wanted and I trusted his work after meeting with him and visiting his past customers home - the homeowner raved about him! I was impressed that one day we came home and a piece of trimwork was not necessarily what I envisioned, I figured I'd call Kurt in the morning to discuss how we could make the change but before I had the chance he called me that evening and said he had come by and didn't think that was what I had in mind and it would be changed in the morning. I really appreciated how proactive the team was to make us happy and we absolutely love our porch!

I kept procrastinating on getting estimates for this screened porch project b/c we all know how big projects always seem to have something go wrong, or not go as planned. I received four estimates total. Kurt Beamesderfer provided the estimate for A Deck Above ... Kurt is so down-to-earth, honest, and dependable. His personality and commitment to building a high-quality porch were the main reasons we chose A Deck Above. The framing crew who built our porch was fantastic!! Dennis (the lead framer), Chris, and Kyle came on time (and sometimes early) and kept working until well after 5:00 on several days. Those guys never seemed to take a break from their work, and were ALWAYS so professional and pleasant to talk with when I occasionally come outside to watch the work in progress. At the end of each work day, Dennis and his crew would straighten or clean up the mess from that day's work. At the end of the entire project, there was no trash, no extra materials, not even a speck of sawdust in our back yard. Also, Kurt came to our house each day to oversee the progress (he definitely wasn't the typical "absentee supervisor"). Tripp Goodliffe with Grove Hill Electrical did all the electrical work (installing ceiling fans, outlets, etc.). We were also impressed with Tripp's extensive knowledge and I'm so happy to (finally) have found an electrician we can trust. A Deck Above builds their decks and porches so the structures look great 5, 10, even 20 years from the day they are completed. Not all deck and porch builders share that same commitment to quality ... other companies' structures look great once the project is completed but they look dismal and shabby 5 years down the road. Do not hesitate to call Kurt at A Deck Above for an estimate on a deck or porch!

We chose A Deck Above because the salesman, Jeff Doerr, conveyed an attitude of customer service. He answered all our questions and agreed to build a deck that met our specifications. The carpenters did an excellent job, building a beautiful deck! They are obviously highly-skilled at what they do. The work area was also thoroughly cleaned up after construction. Overall, a good experience from start to finish. We're very happy.

We met with 5 different deck companies in order to make an informed decision in hiring a company to build our screen porch. We met Jeff, one of A Deck Above's sales staff, at the Southern Home Show and were immediately impressed by the amount of time he spent explaining options to us and answering our questions. He was very down to earth. Upon calling for a quote after the show, Jeff came to our home and met with us about the project, again he listened to what we were looking to do, made suggestions and gave different options that might work within our budget. We received the quote within a week. When it came time to negotiate price we worked with Kurt at a Deck Above. Kurt's time, down to earth attitude, and commitment in this process is a big part of what made us hire A Deck Above. They were neck and neck in terms of price with another company we were considering but it was the attitude of this company that made us hire them. When it came down to the wire of making a decision, Kurt spoke with us on the phone one night from 10-11pm at night and answered final questions- that level of customer service is hard to find. The carpentry crew, Dennis, Kyle, and Chris, that were on our project were top notch. Dennis' attention to detail and pride in his work were comforting and we made us always feel like we were in the best of hands. We learned quickly that Dennis would not let anything go that didn't meet a high standard and this proved to be true throughout the entire project. All three of these folks are polite, highly qualified, and very respectable. Many times when you have workers at your house it can be uncomfortable to have them at your home when you are there and especially when you are not- we always felt extremely comfortable with these guys and were happy to have them there. There is not a deck in our SouthPark neighborhood that is build as well, both from an engineering and aesthetic standpoint. We had saved for a long time for this project and were so excited to finally be able to bring it to life- we are so glad that we went with A Deck Above. They exceeded our expectations and then some.

They responded very promptly with a quote. Nothing about them was out of the ordinary, though.

He was extremely nice. He was on time and helpful. They seemed like they knew what they were doing. They gave good ideas.

I had about 10 estimates but Deck Above agreed to do it for the best price. They started almost 2 weeks late but once they did start it moved fast and efficiently. Denis was the guy who actually did the building, and he was great to work with. He was clean, courteous and a perfectionist. The painters and electrician were also really nice and wanted to make sure I was happy. We had some issues with sap leaking through some of the floor boards after the project was completed. I had to call several times but they did finally come out and replace them, however the painter never did come back to re-paint them, so my husband had to do it. The sales rep Jeff was a little sleazy and annoying to work with but all the physical workers were GREAT! We got we wanted and it looks beautiful!

They were great to deal with. The job went exactly how they said it would and they were very responsive to any of our questions or concerns. We had a few slight alterations during the project and they handled everything beautifully. I highly recommend A Deck Above.

Original estimate was provided efficiently. Pre-contract questions concerning wood flooring preservative were referred to supplier who was very cooperative. Work started promptly and was delayed only slightly by weather. The workmen were a pleasure to have around. Problems arising were slight and were addressed efficiently. Our only disappointment was that the kiln dried treated flooring comes with some discoloration in spots that restricts our choice of finishes.

They were very helpful with the custom design. They were prompt, courteous and had a high level to attention to detail.

The work began the first of April and was completed May 23. For expected delays of weather and multiple sub-contractor coordination (roofing, painting, electrical, gutters), we feel the time frame was completely satisfactory. All phone calls were answered quickly and Johnny Thevaos (Operations Manager) came by a number of times to insure we were informed and pleased with the project. The sub-contractors they used are stable companies and were easy to work with.

The work was done very well and I was satisfied with every aspect of the project. I would definitely recommend this company to anyone because they are reliable and friendly. The work was done with great detail and they made sure to answer all of our questions. The price seemed reasonable as well.
