John was pleasant and personable when he first came for the inspection. He promised a report in two or three days. However, I had to pester him through calls, texts, and emails over the course of several weeks before I finally received the report that I had paid for. After the repairs were completed by a third party company, both that company and I tried to contact John for a follow-up consultation. He never responded to our numerous calls, texts, or emails. He clearly didn't want my business. Spare yourself the hassle and find someone else to work with.

Fraud Alert!!!!’ Do Not Use This Man! He will take your money and run. It has been over two months and we have nothing to show for it. Communicated well after our initial conversation then quickly faded away. He will always require up front payment and if not paid immediately he will likely communicate to you some form of frantic situation he is in and needs your money to pay for the situation and will promise to have whatever has been contracted to you asap. Then he disappears. Do Not Do Business with this man unless you enjoy helping charity cases!!! We have filed a claim with the NC Board of Examiners for Surveyors and Engineers. DO NOT USE…Google him for many more examples of his nonesense!!

He was very demanding to pay at front, so I needed the job done trusted him, did the payment via paypal and didn't hear from him again, didn't pickup calls, or responded emails or texts, DO NOT USE HIM very unprofessional I open a dispute on paypal I doubt the get my money back, I just want to let others know.

Mr. Plummer responded to our request for a site visit within the same day on two occasions and had his report for us within 24 hours. He was very professional and knowledgeable of our needs.

I contacted Mr. Plummer after hours on 5/21/2020, expecting to hear from him the next day (per his voice recording). He called me back that evening. I explained that we were due to close on 6/3 and needed the inspection done right away and the results sent to me so I could forward them to the bank in order to complete the underwriting process. Mr. Plummer assured me he could go the next day (5/22/20), no later than that afternoon and that he would call me with his findings that day. He further promised that he would definitely have the inspection report to me in plenty of time to get it to the bank by the following Tuesday (as Monday was Memorial Day). His only condition was that I prepay him for his services via Paypal. As he was personally recommended by a friend, we didn't question him and did as he requested. It's now 5/31 and I've yet to hear from Mr. Plummer. I've texted him, called, left several voicemail messages as has my wife and the individual who recommended him. We've also emailed him, the last time to request a refund. He has not responded at all. We checked this site and Yelp later and found that it is not uncommon for Mr. Plummer to conduct business this way. As my old high school principal used to say, "A word to the wise should be sufficient!" Apparently poor reviews haven't been enough to put him out of business. YET.

DO NOT HIRE John Plummer! He always requires payment in advance and then charges again for changes even if they are his own errors that needed to be corrected for permitting. Does not respond to email or calls and will ghost you for days when there is an urgent need. At this time we need him to sign off on our foundation and he is not responding and has turned his phone off so we can not reach him. We have already lost thousands due to his mistakes and will continue to lose money as long as he does not provide us what we need. Multiple other engineers we have called for help have heard of him and how bad he is. At this point we may have to redo all our plans and engineering costing additional thousands of dollars and we already have a foundation in the ground. Anyone else would be better, I wish I had read the reviews before hiring him through a designer.

SENT HIS 22 YR OLD SON. expressed i was not haopy,he did not care. he does not return calls or emails, stay away from this guy! i have now requested a refund which has not yet been received, STAY AWAY PLEASE very unprofessional !! John is great. Showed up when scheduled, worked fast, super responsive via email - even took a cell phone call from the contractor when an issue came up and quickly made an adjustment to keep the work going.

The meeting went well and John was on time; however, from there it has completely gone down hill. On the day he checked our joists (Wed 8/24), he required payment before he left and said that this was a simple write up so he'd have the report done on Friday or Saturday, at the latest. Saturday rolled around, we received no report or phone call telling us it was delayed. I gave him extra time, but still heard nothing by Monday. I called, texted, and emailed on Monday and heard nothing back. On Tuesday (8/30) he called and said he was on vacation and that he hadn't done the report yet. I explained that we were very disappointed that he had been paid and hadn't managed to meet the deadline he committed to. I asked again, when could he have it done. This time I asked him to please give me a realistic date that he can commit to as we have code inspectors coming to look at the basement the latter part of the week and would very much like that report in hand. He once again committed to a date of his choosing (Thursday 9/1). We agreed and I asked that he please get the report to us as he's put us in a position and has taken our money and not delivered on anything that he's committed to. At this point, we've contacted the NC State Board of Examiners for Engineers to decide if we should submit a formal complaint against him, as it appears he's working in a manner which is unethical and deceitful, and I'm inputting this review in Angie's List. As a professional, there is no excuse for this. We still don't have our report and, honestly, the way things have gone have no idea if we're going to get it.

He did a good job, was thorough, fairly priced, and I would use him again.

He was very good, knowledgeable and prompt. He came out the next day after we called. He indicated there wasn't a problem at all. He also provided a very thorough report in his inspection that included pictures and had blueprints of the designs to show that the trusses were per the initial contractor specifications. The home inspector just didn't inspect througly enough.

House appeared to be shifting...I did not buy the house.

We had good results. They were very thorough and very good. They did a very good job. We would use him again.

Scheduled the appointment, but John did not show up for the inspection, nor did he call to say otherwise. This cost us and our realtor's valuable time. This is not appropriate conduct from a professional engineer, as construed by North Carolina General Statute 89C.
